🐎The Secret of Rohan🐎
Boromir/OC • Secret Identity • Slow Burn
📖 Read on AO3
This is where it begins — the first part of a story about a hidden truth and a name that isn’t mine. About a rider in disguise and a path that leads straight into the heart of the Fellowship.
A chance meeting. A clash of wills. And one man who will change my life forever.
What if I’m not who they think I am? What if I never was?
A tale of tension, trust, and the weight of secrets — set against the rising storm of Middle-earth.
Whump Prompt #720
Submitted by @red-river-potato01 - thanks!
Character A has a lot of bad things in their past that they haven't told their team about, and secretly is eaten up by shame over what they've done and fear of their teammates hating them if they ever find out. This can go two or three ways. Either they don't tell their team and continue to be eaten up by shame, they DO tell their teammates and are terrified the entire time of what their team will think, or their team finds out somehow and is left in shock. (Their reaction is up to you.)
" but with all the tools to fit them together like puzzle pieces and even throw in a lot of previously hidden information that will make a lot of sense in hindsight. "
Could you elaborate on the previously hidden information ?
1) The actual nature of their relationship, which has been carefully hidden from view. This could be anywhere from actually indifferent (unlikely, but you know), to cordial but distant (actually shown in the text), to conflicted, to proto-romantic. We do not know yet for fact, though we can make educated guesses based on the text.
2) There's a not-zero chance GRRM will take it into some variant of pre-canon jonsa. (Barely conscious feelings, not acted upon, ultimately innocent.) There's some textual hints and there are literary references in play that suggest it. (See also @cappymightwrite and her "Manfred Meta".)
It would be one explanation for the otherwise suspicious silence about their past. I know many people don't like the idea but that doesn't mean that GRRM wouldn't do it.
GRRM likes revealing secrets we didn't even know existed. Lysa and Tansy, the truth about Tysha, RLJ, Aemon and Rhaegar communicating about Azor Ahai, Cersei and the prophecy, Aegon in Essos... there's plenty of precedent.
The Reunion (Negan x Reader)
Part 1 I Part 2 l Part 3
Plot: Reader is part of Rick's group (during Alexandria) and discovers that she has a past with the man that has been terrorizing her group.
Warnings: angst, major character deaths (not reader), violence
ps. I do not own any of The Walking Dead characters nor do I claim to own you!
Scared. That’s all I felt when the group of Saviors had us, Rick’s group, in a half-circle, on our knees. Rocks, dirt, pieces of wood digging into my knees as I look around, scared, assessing our situation. To my right Abraham, to my left Michonne. Trapped… with no way out, waiting for this mysterious leader to roll up and determine the fate of us, of Alexandria.
I must have spaced out because next thing I know an RV pulls up and a man with a weird beard/mustache starts talking “ Alright, looks like we have a full boat! Let’s meet the man.” He knocks on the RV and a man comes out. I don’t dare to look at his face, just focusing on the ground. That is...until I heard his voice “Pissing our pants yet?” My head shoots up, meeting the eyes of the leader of the Saviors.
Memories flash before my eyes. Memories of laughter, cuddles, kisses, tears, walkers, getting separated...“Negan?” I whisper, hope blossoms in my chest and my heart flutters as I stare at the man in front of our group.
He recognizes me, it's evident in his eyes. He starts walking in front of us, ignoring me “Boy, do I have a feeling we’re getting close.”
Only then do I notice the bat wrapped in barbed wire, tears form as I notice that this is not the man that I knew before. Distracted by my own thoughts, I don’t pay attention to the man I once loved and his cruel monologue. “I got an idea,” he smirks, “Eeny, meeny, miny, moe,” he starts. I squeeze my eyes shut, hoping this is just a sick game. That he won’t kill my friends, no, my family, or more importantly...me.
As he gets to the end of the nursery song, I feel he's getting closer to me. I open my eyes. “And you” points at Michonne, “are,” points to Abraham. Negan starts to point at me but turns around, my heart pounds in my chest. “It” he finishes as he looks at me with sadness? I close my eyes again, waiting for the bat to end my fate. I feel the air whoosh past me, hitting something next to me, then gasps.
I open my eyes yet again, not expecting to see ‘Lucille’ covered in blood that's not mine. I looked over to my right, to Abraham. His forehead covered in blood.
But Negan doesn’t stop there, he bashes Abraham’s head in as I cry, silently but hard. I don’t even notice that Daryl tried to fight, being placed in a car and that Negan hit Glenn until I heard him choke out “M-Maggie, I’ll find you.”
I curl up into myself not wanting to watch the man I once loved commit such a violent act. Part of me still wishing this was fake, a dream, a misunderstanding.
I feel like hours pass, Rick being taken, brought back, Carl almost getting his hand chopped off. I hear “grab the girl, we’re taking her with us, she’s riding with me.” Arms grab at me and some of my group starts crying again. I don’t fight, I’m too numb inside. I just look at my group, disheveled from the events that transgressed, tears running down their faces. “I love you,” I say to all of them, thinking that this is the last time I see them.
I’m placed into a car, Negan sitting next to me.
“What a weird reunion, right doll?”
I look at him with hatred and disillusion, “I’m not your doll, not anymore...”
“Oh honey, you’ll always be mine.”

! SPOILER ALERT FOR THE ARCANA !
I don't know if this was intentional or an easter egg or even intended in any way by Nix Hydra, I might just be rambling outta my ass here, BUT I has theory.
So TA has all sorts of music right? And for the most part, the music repeats throughout different routes and scenes, it's all pretty par for the course, with an exception for a few characters (Tasya namely).
BUT—
The track Hidden Past plays for the first time when you meet Morga in any route, and for a while, it literally only plays around her. I'd assumed that was intended as Morga's theme, BUT, thing is, when you play Muriel's route, the track plays AGAIN while Khamgalai is telling Muriel about the Kokhuri and what they were like and what his heritage is.
And that's it. For the rest of the game it plays around Morga only.
Now, that's SUPER interesting, that you first hear Hidden Past around Morga, and Morga plays a huge role in Muriel's past, but she never told him that herself in your travels, so she was HIDING it + Muriel never knew his past so you could say it was HIDDEN from him for a long time.
Until finally, he meets Khamgalai and finds out the truth, and whaddaya know it, Hidden Past plays while Muriel's past is being revealed.
It even makes sense with the name of the song.
I think it's super cool how you first hear the music with Morga, and it's called Hidden Past, and it's kind of like foreshadowing to the reveal of Muriel's past where you hear the music again, because all this time it was intended for them both, foreshadowing the deeper connection between them.
And, those two are the only instances when you hear the track, which is even more interesting, because it emphasizes the point of them being connected, especially because they are both the last of their respective tribes, Morga is the last of the Scourge and Muriel is the last of the Kokhuri after Lucio kills Khamgalai.
It's just an insane attention to details in the game, being deliberate even down to the music about these character's stories and how they're presented and it's just one of the endless reasons I absolutely ADORE TA with all my heart and soul.

Writing Prompt #27
“Kid, I,” They begin, reaching out to place a hand on their apprentice’s shoulder. Their speech staggers when the other shies away from the, usually accepted, contact. “I told, I told you not to.” The greenhorn whispers, “I told you, you weren’t going to like what you find.” Tears well up in their eyes. They look prepared to bolt at any second.
