All About The Sacral Chakra
The Second Chakra we will look at now is known as the Sacral Chakra. Also known as "Svadhisthana".
We know from the previous article that our Root Chakra’s focus is upon survival and primal physicality’s the slightly higher secondary Chakra is all about pleasure and enjoyment.
When you have a fully balanced Sacral Chakra the ability to fully express yourself comes through in all areas of life, artistically, sexually and socially. A fully balanced and flowing Sacral Chakra helps one to truly enjoy all of the pleasures life has to offer.
The second Chakra is located in the spine just below the naval (belly button). It is known as the centre of realisation of polarity, the balance of opposites and it affects your desire for social interaction.
Because the Sacral Chakra governs our sexuality and sensuality blockages can result in obsessive behaviour going from one extreme to another. From excessive cleanliness to a complete lack of hygiene. It is the centre of our perception of ourselves and how we treat ourselves – remember it is linked with pleasure and therefore is also linked to pain.
Whether we treat ourselves kindly or cruelly has a lot to do with our perceptions and values, a blocked chakra can lead to self-abuse and negligence and an over active chakra can lead to a breakdown at ones own hands.
Our sacral chakra is associated with the element of water so it influences the flow of your bodies life force – be it the blood flowing through your veins and arteries in the circulatory system or the fluid excretory controllers – namely the bladder and the kidneys.
This chakra when balanced helps you to appreciate lifes pleasures and help you embrace change in order to create the life you desire. It enables self expression and creativity bringing out not only the playful and sexual sides of ourselves but also the nurturing side of ourselves also – in my own terms, I would describe it as our caring centre – as much as we will look at our heart chakra later on, it can be of no surprise that the sacral chakra located so near the womb of a woman is where our nurturing nature comes from.
Sexuality, Creativity and our ability to Nurture truly are all interconnected and with a little studying of human nature we can see this to be evident in human psychology.
Now the reader may think that’s all very interesting and makes sense to a degree but emotions being stored in particular energy centres in my body – I don’t buy it….and that’s understandable so lets do a little sciencey logic cleanup here shall we so that we can better understand why this works in the way it does.
I think its pretty safe to assume that you know that heat rises. And its pretty safe to assume that you know that different parts of our bodies are all at different temperatures. Also the faster an object moves the hotter it gets. Temperature and heat are interconnected.
Emotions are all different frequencies and depending on which frequency we are experiencing will determine how we feel. We know the difference between a happy energy and a sad energy. We also know that those states can be changed quite rapidly also – just go have a listen to a few Tony Robbins tapes and you’ll see what I mean, one minute you’ll be crying your eyes out and the next you end up in an uncontrollable fit of laughter.
So heat is energy, heat rises and emotions are frequencies – still with me? If you can understand the law of vibration there will be nothing that you will not be able to understand. Vibration is life.
When you put oil into a glass of water – what happens?
Does it all blend together?
No, of course not, the particles separate into two distinguishable parts the water settles in one place and the oil in another – they meet but they do not blend together – they have their own designated place within that space.
The reason they separate is because of the speed of the vibration each of those components is travelling at. Oil will vibrate at one speed and water at another and these two distinct vibrations will divide them into their own separate parts.
Different vibrations mean different outcomes.
Emotions are just like that – they have their own place of where they are stored. Just like the oil will go to one area so to do our emotions reside in various centres in our body.
And all emotions have their own different frequency, no emotion is the same as another.
Whenever we have an emotional reaction we will also experience a bodily physical reaction and that is not a coincidence – it is the law of life, the law of vibration.
Because we now understand the separation of the elements is due to vibrational frequencies we can now comprehend how emotions can be stored in different centres.
If you have a high vibration that emotion will impact one field of existence, if you have a lower vibration then that emotion will impact a different field of existence. Just in the way that water and oil separates and that heat rises so to do our emotions reside in different energy centres within our beings.
Energy flows within all of our Chakras. If it flows to fast and is too open you get negative excessive energy and when it flows to slowly you get negative deficient energy – we wish to create the optimum energy with a steady balanced energy.
Here are some of the things you will experience if you have a BLOCKED (Deficient Energy) Sacral CHAKRA
Here are some of the things you will experience if you have a TOO OPEN (Excessive Energy) Sacral CHAKRA
Here are some of the things you will experience if you have a BALANCED Sacral CHAKRA
Trusting (But Not Naïvely So)
Sexually Open (At The Appropriate Time)
The key again is to acknowledge these patterns in order to correct them. Acknowledging and taking stock of ourselves is the first step to a happier healthier, more balanced and more productive life. We cannot correct that which we do not acknowledge. When we face it, we can correct it.
How To Work With The Sacral Chakra
In the previous article I gave you an assignment – did you do it?
How did it make you feel?
If you didn’t do it, then go back and do that now before continuing because you may not gain the benefits of this next stage if you do not complete the first.
Have you ever tried to make a cake without a bowl?
Didn’t think so – notice I said bowl there and not flour or eggs, because as much as the ingredients are an important factor in baking a cake - if you don’t have anything to put them into you are screwed, you need the damn bowl!
Have you done the exercise yet?
Ok, at this point I am going to assume you have done the exercise and it is an exercise you will want to do each day at the beginning in order to supercharge you into getting balanced. Sure getting into balance and being harmony might not sound like the coolest thing there is, but reaching that state of bliss, there is nothing quite like it and believe me, you want to get there.
The next thing you may or may not want to include in your balancing regime is yoga. Now depending on your belief systems you may think that yoga is a bad thing so lets defuse that shall we?
Yoga is a method that yes strengthens the body but it also strengthens the immune system and the mind and helps a person develop self-mastery. Some religions teach that because you are clearing your mind you are making room for evil things to come and get you – which is complete nonsense.
Firstly if you don’t know the difference between right and wrong and are influenced to do something bad then you have a much more serious problem and require emotional guidance and secondly yoga enables one to gain a clear mind – its within this clarity that we begin to be able to have clear thought and in any cult-like arrangement thinking is a big no no so they will rip to pieces anything that teaches one to think for itself – because the ability to think for oneself is to remove the power from another.
If your thoughts cannot be controlled by another you have freedom. If your mind is free, your body will catch up – but if your mind is trapped you could live in a palace and always feel trapped.
One of the main benefits of practicing yoga is in its breathing, correct breathing helps to unclog your energy centres and fill you with vitality. The added tight butt that comes along with it is simply a beneficial side effect!
It is great for your balance, your posture and your wellbeing. Taking that little bit of time out for yourself each should not be stressful and should not be seen as a challenge but something that you gain pleasure from.
You do not have to put yourself into a contortionist’s position to do yoga, it does not have to be painful it can be very simple and very basic and have a massive positive impact on your overall wellbeing.
Your body and your emotions will thank you for it.
Do your meditations, try a few simple yoga positions. Do not try to be perfect in this just develop the feel for it at first. Find the pleasure and clarity of mind within the moment and enjoy the balance that will begin filling you.
You are connected, you are precious, you are loved and you most definitely are not alone.
Until tomorrow, breathe deeply and know you are loved and your new life has just begun.
