Hey I love your work, whenever I feel down I just re-read them and and give me the biggest Dopey smile, even just reading your answers on others ask are enough to put a smile on my face. 💕💕 I don't know if you've answered it before but I'm curious, Elastigirl and stratogale are out-of-the-closet, but are Helen and Gail, do their families know or their friends?
Thank you, and I’m so, so happy to hear it. <3 I started this blog when I was going through a really rough time, and even now it’s something I always look forward to working on and I love the little community that’s sprung up around it, because I feel like everyone could use a dose of feel-good these days.
Early on, Gail and Helen are out to a few close friends (those from the GSA) but don’t reveal their relationship to the whole school because Gail is really shy about PDA and worries about backlash, particularly towards Helen, who is pretty popular. Helen initially finds the secrecy and kissing in bathrooms fun, but the appeal wears off pretty quickly and she finds herself missing being open about the relationship (which she always was when dating boys.) I have a comic planned and partly sketched about how they’re eventually outed at school! (I think it’ll surprise you.)
Gail’s parents pick up pretty immediately on Gail’s crush on Helen because she’s not subtle at all. They assume the two are dating way before Gail eventually tells them so. She’s a little put-out that her big announcement gets so little fanfare, lol.
Helen’s family is less aware about their relationship and assume the two are best friends, until one of Helen’s siblings (Cass) accidentally discovers otherwise. Helen was trying to keep it secret because it made her parents less suspicious about their many study sessions and sleepovers. 😅
