I genuinely have about 100 more headcannons I wanted to talk about, but this is already probably too much for one instalment haha

How the company would protect you during an orc attack - Thorin, Dwalin, Bofur, Kili, Fili

Thorin

* The instant Thorin becomes aware of danger, he shifts his position so that you are fully shielded by him, his body a deliberate barrier between you and the threat.

* His commands are brief and unwavering, delivered in a low voice that cuts through the chaos and keeps everyone focused.

* He fights with purpose and control, steering the conflict away from you rather than allowing it to close in.

* If you falter, his hand finds you instantly, fingers firm at your wrist or shoulder, pulling you close enough that he can feel your breath and know you’re still safe.

* When the threat has passed, his stern composure finally eases as he ensures you are unharmed, his concern lingering long after the danger is gone

Dwalin

* Dwalin is a wall. He plants himself at the most dangerous approach point and refuses to let anything pass him.

* His presence alone is intimidating enough to slow the orcs, buying precious time.

* He barely speaks during the fight, fully focused on keeping the enemy away from you.

* If one gets too close, Dwalin reacts instantly, placing himself directly in front of you without thought for himself.

* Afterward, he gives you a brief nod—his quiet way of saying you are safe now.

Bofur

* Bofur places himself just behind you, acting as a solid, unmovable shield.

* He keeps you grounded, occasionally touching your shoulder to remind you you’re not alone.

* His fighting style is defensive when you’re near—he blocks, redirects, and protects rather than charging ahead.

* He murmurs encouragement under his breath, even in the middle of chaos.

* Once safe, he fusses over you gently, offering water or a cloak with a warm smile.

Fili

* Fili stays constantly within reach, positioning himself so you’re never without cover or support. His awareness never wavers.

* He uses his speed and skill to pull threats away from you, leading them elsewhere so the danger never reaches your space.

* Even in tense moments, he offers you a quick, confident smile—his way of telling you he’s in control and you can trust him.

* He fights with precision rather than recklessness, always mindful of where you are and adjusting his movements accordingly.

* The moment the danger passes, he’s back at your side, attention fully on you, voice soft as he checks that you’re truly unharmed.

Kili

* Kili takes the high ground or the edge of the clearing, using distance to prevent orcs from getting anywhere near you.

* He calls out warnings—short, loud alerts—to give you and the others time to react.

* His shots are deliberate, meant to end threats before they ever reach you.

* Even while focused on the fight, he keeps his voice steady when speaking to you, grounding you with calm words so fear doesn’t take hold.

* Once the threat is gone, his tension eases into light humor, using gentle jokes and easy smiles to help you come back to yourself.

I’ve had this headcannon for so long I’ve forgotten it’s not actually canon but I like to think that hobbits are sort of like billy goats in a way. That they can eat just about everything. Immunity to most poisons, able to eat raw or even rotten meat and vegetables without getting sick (though it’s more out of desperation then actual want) and so on.

To add on to this I like to think that because of this hobbits tend to have extremely high tolerance when it comes to alcohol and other narcotics. They can drink as much as a full grown dwarf and barely be tipsy. Which would lean more into their reputation for very high quality smoke and drink.

I’ve thought about possible reasons for this and most start with some sort of famine hundreds of years prior that made them evolve to be able to survive with little to nothing, forcing them to eat foods that to most aren’t even edible. Poisonous mushrooms, rotten meat, venomous bugs, straight up dirt.

Obviously since hobbits current day tend to be seen as a wealthy but humble sort of race I’d imagine the days of famine are long gone but the traits that let them survive have stayed, evolving more into letting them eat large quantities of food probably with some trade off of needing to sleep less or something. But the average weight for the race has grown as the extra food and less time spent foraging for such food has made them rounder

Anyway this has all combined into this idea in my head that every so often bilbo will eat something near the company, probably during the trip when they were extremely low on food, something that the dwarfs most certainly couldn’t eat without dying but bilbo would neglect to inform them of how strong a hobbits stomach is and the company would collectively freak tf out

Along with that I’d imagine later down the road (we’re heading into shipping territory) that if thorin and bilbo got married that would upset quite a lot of people, a hobbit and a dwarf, could you even imagine??? Royal marriages do tend to always upset at least one person but obviously that would raise the possibility of an assignation attempt. The good ole “poison their food”. I’d imagine Bilbo would make some comment about the food tasting odd but continue eating it no problem just for a guard or someone to burst into the room to inform them about the attempt on bilbos life, however bilbos bowl is currently empty and home boy seems just fine. I’d imagine thorin would be extremely dramatic about the whole thing, refusing to let Bilbo sleep so he can keep an eye on him the rest of the night in case he starts dying, much the bilbos irritation.

I’d also imagine that because of their resistance to famine and odd foods, plus the extra weight that if in a situation where truly no food is present, they could go for much longer time periods without eating and be just fine, though maybe slightly uncomfortable

“Who is that?”

“That is the Queen of Erebor, the most beautiful lass in all the mountain.”

Several of the Iron Hills dwarves strain to see the dwarrowdam around the various guards, “I didn’t know King Thorin had taken a Queen”

Dain hums, “She wears a crown made of the Arkenstone itself, Y/N is known among the dwarves of Erebor as the ‘Heart of the King’.”

“Does she really wear the King’s Jewel?”

“When Thorin realized how much the stone affected him he had it broken into smaller pieces. Some were made into the Queen’s crown, some into Prince Fili’s and Kili’s crowns, some into Princess’s Dis’ crown, and the rest was reshaped into a smaller gem and placed above the throne.”

One of the older dwarves crosses his arms, “I have heard many dwarves speak of the Queen, they call her the ‘True Heart’ and are fiercely protective of her. The King only trusts her safety with his best soldier, Master Dwalin, and the other members of the original Company.”

“My cousin guards his heart well, my friend, perhaps if you are lucky you will get to meet the Queen Under the Mountain”

The company Jealousy headcannons

Thorin : oh my gods if he even sees another guy (or lady depending on what you’re into) looking at as if they like what they see, he will not be happy. He’ll be subtly territorial, he’ll try to initiate a lot of stuff. There will be a lot of, “Honey I want to cuddle,” “will you do me the honor of sitting on my lap and letting me hold you, my treasure?” (Thorin bonus: if they have the balls to still make advances on you even while you’re sitting in his lap or whateve, he’ll pick you up and carry you to the nearest bed for a good long and thorough fucking.)

Dwalin: He’ll stand between you and any potential partner and just stare them down (even if they’re taller than him) until they go away. He’s a giant cock blocking wall with axes.

Dori: he’ll “accidentally” spill something on them, preferably something like scalding hot tea.

Nori: will just come up and start snogging you, whatever gets his message across. That or he’ll flash his extensive knife collection as them in a subtle way.

Ori: will feign illness to get you away from them.

Bofur: starts telling you jokes, and doesn’t stop until you can’t breathe properly while sending them the smug, “look what I can do and you can’t” look.

Fili: will get between you and them and start singing aggressively loud the offending party until they get uncomfortable and leave.

Kili: will give them his best “Durin murder glare” until they leave

Bilbo : distracts you with food.

Balin, Oin, Gloin, Bombur, and Bifur: these babies don’t get jealous.
