Being the closest to the kitchens, most Hufflepuffs befriend the house elves and are constantly popping in and out of the kitchens. For birthdays, Puffs request cakes and sweets for their friends, or better yet make it themselves!

Harry Potter Question!

Can someone please tell me when, how, and why Slytherins and Hufflepuffs are the best Best Friends of Hogwarts In the HP fandom? I get the whole opposites attract thing and all but like why Slytherin and Hufflepuff? Why not Hufflepuff and Gryffindor? Don’t get me wrong, this is one of my favorite things and I am a Hufflepuff and my friend group consists mainly of Slytherins, probably one Gryffindor and a Ravenclaw. I’m just curious about how it came to be.

Ok, but can you imagine...

All the little witches and wizards, who came out to their parents as transgender and their family is either still getting used to calling them by their preferred pronouns, or they didn’t accept it at all, and on top of that all the muggle borns just think they are WEIRD AF and they just feel completely alone. And then. They get their Hogwarts letter. And it has their preferred pronouns because it’s a magic school that knows who you really are. And they suddenly feel so much better because it turns out they’re not alone, and there’s a place that just accepts them. All the kids from wizarding families who have been expecting their letter, and they have no idea if the piece of paper their parents will probably frame and hand on the wall is going to call them what they really are or not and just feeling that sense of relief.

AND THEN THEY GET TO SCHOOL. And they’re on the train and they all make so many friends with other people who for the first time maybe just really like them for them!! The acceptance!! The love!!

And every June all the flags in the castle , all the banners, everything gets replaced! They do pride parades and parties on the quidditch pitch and along the Great Lake!! The Giant Squid is discovered to be able to change its colours and does so according to the day!!

The Houses in Autumn

It may be early, but it’s already beginning to feel autumnal where I live, so I’m feeling excited!!! :D

Gryffindor:

Wants to jump into the BIGGEST leaf pile and carve the SCARIEST pumpkin / Starts to subtlety smell of bonfires and spice / Buys their sparklers and fireworks in bulk / Jams out to ‘ Monster Mash’ and ‘Time Warp’ in the lead-up to Halloween

Ravenclaw:

Want to sit in a café and read whilst sipping a seasonal drink / Gets in the mood for Halloween by reading conspiracies and Creepypasta, and watching Buzzfeed Unsolved / Loves wearing extra scarves / Their chilled evenings-in feel so much more satisfying when it’s cold outside

Hufflepuff:

Overdoses on Halloween sweets / Wants to watch as many horror films as possible (will probably end up watching Disney after they’ve finished traumatising themselves) / Looks cute in oversized jumpers / Cold weather is the best excuse for them to drink hot chocolate every day

Slytherin:

Feels more powerful when Halloween is in the air / Has ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ on loop, and likes to yell out ‘THIS IS HALLOWEEN’ at any given moment / They start to play with even darker make-up and clothing / Feels safe when they’re wrapped up inside and it’s miserable outside
