El pasado fin de semana Antonio Hernando presentó en Londres y Madrid su reciente LP "Ernie Graham", relectura del único álbum en solitario que publicó Ernie Graham (The People, Eire Apparent, Help Yourself, Clancy) excelente disco del que ya hablamos por aquí hace tiempo. En Londres tocó en la sala Green Note en Camden Town, acompañado, ojo, de Colin Hare de Honeybus y Malcolm Morley de Help Yourself, con Dave Robinson (fundador de Stiff Records) presente en el concierto. Al día siguiente lo presentó en la sala Jazzville del foro. El disco de versiones de Hernando está muy bien, es ante todo una trabajo de amor.

Recientemente Hernando le dedicó a Graham un programa de "La Hora de la Aguja" y publicó en la revista Ruta 66 un artículo sobre Graham, que próximamente va a convertirse en libro.

“Después de haber publicado el LP homenaje a Ernie Graham en una fecha tan icónica como el del día de su fallecimiento, me parecía un buen broche final el que sus canciones sonaran el día de su nacimiento, el 14 de junio (día en que Ernie hubiera cumplido 80 años), de ahí cerrar esa fecha en el precioso Jazzville, en la zona del Retiro de Madrid, tan frondosa como la portada de su disco. Fantaseando con la idea de hacer lo mismo en Londres, hablé con varias salas sobre mi particular odisea con Ernie Graham, y contacté con los músicos y amigos del irlandés que habían colaborado en mi futuro libro".

Honeybus - For You (1973)

This is such a gorgeous baroque pop tune that it’s easy to forgive the fact that the intro to this tune is awfully similar to their one hit I Can’t Let Maggie Go. This was their last single, from their unreleased LP Recital.
