If Doomsday doesn't show that in his imaginary life behind the picket fence, Steve didn't at least save that Bucky...
They're still alive.
All of them. Steve was important to them, they cared for him, but they also cared for Bucky, whom they'd known longer than they'd known Steve. They risked their lives for him and cared for him, they'd united for him in the POW camp...
They lost Bucky and then they lost Steve.
Maybe Steve, in his imaginary world, had never met them.
Or maybe he came back. Maybe he came back and even though he was a stranger, different, older, they could still celebrate, because their brother had somehow survived. Just one.
And then maybe they'd know that their real brother was still abandoned in the ice and no one would look for him anymore, because an stranger had taken his place.
And then maybe they'd know that Bucky had been alive all this time. He lived and suffered something far worse than death, and the one person who could have saved him, who could have allowed them to save him, consciously chose, CHOSE not to...
God, I hate this trashy ending...
