Soooo like. I have a headcanon that Captain Hozwer along with the Syndulla’s speak French (or at least the Star Wars version of the French language)! And would love to request Reader hearing captain hozwer speak French to a little Hera and just *heart eyes! * maybe with a lil flirtation? 🥰
(The Bad Batch) Captain Howzer x Reader: Language
Author's Note: OMGOSH THIS IS JUST-
This headcanon right here killed me. I've now adopted it as well. I’ve been excited about quite a few requests that have blessed my inbox, and this for sure is one of them!!!!
MY GOODNESS. The cuteness,
Anyway, I hope you enjoy!
“We will need to strengthen our offense if we are to drive the droids out for good,” Syndulla noted. His gaze burned with passion at the thought of ending the long war in a victorious stand. “Howzer.” His tone evened as he addressed the captain. “How are your men faring? Perhaps we should take time to recuperate.”
There was no complaint or veiled insult. As much as liberating his people meant to him, Cham Syndulla wasn’t pushing. He was a fighter on all fronts. He was a revolutionary against the politics of Ryloth’s senator, and even resisted the Republic at first...But he did not hold these feelings toward the men he fought beside anymore.
Appreciation flashed across Howzer’s features, and his tone was optimistic as he replied. “It won’t take long to formulate an effective strategy, Sir. We will make sure your people break through the clankers’ defenses.”
Of course the men needed time to recuperate. But they would organize that much faster for the twi’leks.
Your heart burned with admiration at both parties present at the meeting.
The soldiers and the twi’leks had formed a strong bond fighting alongside each other, and it was not something that either group took lightly. Everyone was giving it their all and sparing no effort.
“Well then,” Eleni spoke up, gently clasping her hands together in a concluding gesture. “Why don’t we take a break? We can meet back here to discuss strategy.”
Cham nodded, giving the attendees permission to leave. The briefing room cleared out, and you exited alongside Captain Howzer. You found yourself drawn to him as the days went by. As a representative, you were originally stationed on Ryloth to try cultivate the twi’lek’s hopes in the Republic and make reports to your superiors. Over time, you began to understand their political position in the war and sympathized... You also got a closer look at what exactly was going on in the galaxy, ending up in a few battles even.
It was quite an adventure- one that you never expected when first setting foot on that world. And you had not anticipated forming such close friendships that went beyond the professional capacity you were used to.
“What do you think?” you asked, stealing a glance at the handsome captain who walked beside you in the hall.
“I think we’re closer than ever to ending this war,” he replied. His tone was calm, even - like his demeanor usually was. Cool under the most stressful situations. But one should never mistake Howzer’s restraint as indifference. The determination was evident in his gaze as he exchanged looks with you. “It’s only a matter of time before the people of Ryloth are free.”
You nodded, joining in his hope. Just then, you saw a familiar form come bounding down the hallway with the clunky, sassy droid close behind. Howzer’s expression shifted into amusement at the young girl. His eyes crinkled at the corners in a
“Woah, there,” he warned with a chuckle. “Ralentis! You’ll get in trouble for running in the halls.”
Your ears perked at the unfamiliar word thrown in there. It didn’t sound like galactic basic, but perhaps you’d misheard?
Hera was clearly out of breath from her sprint down the hall. It took her a moment to utter a greeting. "Salut, Howzer."
Your jaw dropped as Howzer replied in the young twi’lek’s native tongue with a flawless accent. "Salut ma grande. Quoi de neuf ?"
"Rien!" she exclaimed.
He nodded as if considering her response with suspicion. Then, he gently patted the top of her head and nodded in the direction where she had been running, a signal to continue on her way. His smile was so gentle, affectionate, as if he were conversing with a child of his own. “Reste hors d'ennuis, ma grande. Eh?”
Hera tried to shield her giggle from him with her hands, but there was no mistaking the glint in her eye as laughter escaped her lips.
“À plus tard!“ With that, she scurried down the hallway.
Howzer turned his attention back to you. Your gaze was already shamelessly locked on him in utter fascination.
“What?” he asked, though part of you suspected he already knew exactly what.
You lifted a brow. “I’ve been here long enough to pick up a few words and phrases, but that...”
“Well, early on, there was a bit of a language barrier. I decided it would be helpful if I learned the language for practical reasons on the battlefield as well as to relate better to the people.”
“Captain Howzer, you are a man of many talents.” You shook your head, smiling.

“Make me.” The moment you uttered the words, you knew you made a mistake. Howzer’s demeanor darkened, and his laughter turned devious. You’re own challenging grin dropped as heat flushed to your already red cheeks.
“What was that, Princess?” He gave you a chance to rethink, using the nickname you always hated. The nickname you always detested resparked your stubborn streak, momentarily silencing the voices yelling not to push the soldier any further. Part of you wanted to listen, the rest of you was cheering on the devil on your shoulder.
“I said, make me.” You repeated, eyes sparking in challenge, chin held high as you held his gaze. Your new emboldened confidence didn’t last long, and it was clear he put the shovel in your hand to dig your hole deeper. And now you would lie in it.
Howzer laughed humorously, shaking his head as he approached you slowly swiping the door shut and locking it without looking. Long legs should have made it a quick process to cross the room to you, but he took his sweet time. For every painstakingly slow step he took towards you, you swore your heart fluttering at least 100 times more than it should have. He didn’t bother shedding his armor or popping his helmet off, making him look truly dangerous as he stalked towards you. Another step, another chip to your cocky confidence.
“I always tell you that mouth of yours is gonna get you in trouble.” He warned, voice low enough to make your stomach drop. Now close enough to touch you, you unconsciously started walking backwards as if afraid of what your actions had wrought. Stalking you like a predator, he let you stumble backwards until your back hit the wall, eliciting a small gasp out of you when you finally made contact. You heard him breathe another chuckle and tour knees felt week as he closed in.
It wasn’t long before his larger form completely caged you, tutting as he muttered something about letting him corner you. One gloved hand was braced by your face, and you wondered if he could feel the heat radiating off your scarlet cheeks. He brought his other arm to rest against the wall above your head, just a reminder he had endless size and strength on you. One of his armored knees, wedged between your weak legs- the final nail in your prior confidence. Your chin dropped, forcing you to look up at him through your lashes, an attempt at innocent as if you weren’t half way grinding the real painted armor around his thigh.
“Howzer-“ you started, voice high and breathy, a humorous contrast to the earlier cocky tone you’d teased him with in the mess hall. He shook his head, the arm above you lifting so he could trail a gloved finger down your hair and then your cheek, pausing against your lips.
“Little late for the innocent act, Princess.” He assured you, his thumb dragging down on your bottom lips before trailing down your neck. You were embarrassed at the little noise you made as he continued lower. His visor followed his hand as he slowly explored downward, slow enough to make you squirm so his other hand braces your hip against the wall. Momentarily, the visor lifted to your eyes again halting all movement but not letting go. Though you couldn’t see his eyes you could imagine that they had temporarily softened to sincerity as they met yours- half lidded as they were as you gulped for air, already half delirious with lust for the Captain, “Tell me to stop if you need to.”
Always the gentlemen, which you were typically over the moon for but you didn’t dare tell him to stop. He chuckled again, helmet shaking side to side as he easily lifted you, “So needy for me.”
_____
It was later, when you were sweaty, shaky, and having trouble forming complete thoughts much less sentences that he buried his hand in hair at the base of your neck, pulling it just enough to make you gasp. Muscles like jelly, you immediately craned your head back into his grasp. The action forced your face up to him, no doubt a mess but he didn’t seem to mind. Finally, he reached up to pry the helmet off. Your hips rocked against the composite armor on his thigh again when he moved, making you whine but you didn’t dare move.
For the first time that evening, you got to see his face. Lust darkened eyes gave you an appraising look, not letting the grip on your hair slip as his other hand cupped your cheek thumb rubbing your cheek like a taunt. Brown eyes raked over your flushed face, sweat on your forehead, mascara and lipstick smudged, mouth sinful as your half panted, half whined. Somehow seeing his smirk when you rocked your hips against him again made it so much more embarrassing so you ducked your face into his neck- but didn’t stop the action, thighs squeezing around the soldiers own muscled thigh that was encased in plastoid composite.
He let you for a moment, now free hand roaming your thighs and his own slicked armor piece. Physical evidence of your last hour of denied release, but the reprieve didn’t last long. Howzer pulled back slightly just enough to get a hold of your face. One hand did the job, thumb on one jaw while the other fingers lightly pressed into your cheek, once again forcing you to meet his amused gaze.
“H-Howz,” your breath hitched, cutting you off as he adjusted himself and therefore you, “Howzer, please-“
His smirk turned to a dark grin, pulling your face up to his so close his breath fanned over you. His scent was already a cloud around you, almost intoxicated as it mixed with your own. You pants, whines, and moans were almost sinful as he held you there, his other hand rubbing slow, distracting circles on your hip.
Summary: Will you marry Howzer even though he can’t offer you the shiny things you’re used to? (Inspired by the Taylor Swift song of the same title)
Warnings: Like one mention of war and allusion of poverty, otherwise just tooth rotting fluff

-------
What was he thinking? Your parents were a Duchess and Duke on your home planet, they were friends with the Syndullas, you grew up in a mansion and here Howzer was, wanting to marry you. Not only did he not have much property, most people considered him property, He couldn’t offer you what you were used to, what you deserved. But no matter how often he told himself that he shouldn’t ask you to marry him, he just had to. He couldn’t take the thought of dying without ever having told you just how much you mean to him, how much he wants to spend the rest of his life, however long, with you.
But today, he finally decided, was the day. The war was over, for the first time since Howzer could remember there was something resembling peace, and you’d be arriving later that day.
Just a few days ago you had commed him, telling him that you had asked your parents to let you finish your university education on Ryloth and they agreed. So you will spend the next two years right there next to him, And afterwards you could look for a job on Ryloth, or maybe, now that the war was over, Howzer could find a way to escape the army and the two of you could settle on your home planet or any corner of the galaxy you wanted. Provided you said yes.
Howzer was on duty most of the day, which is why he couldn’t greet you the second you set foot on Ryloth. But as soon as his shift ended he hurried to the Syndullas’ house, in the garden of which the two of you had been secretly meeting for the past two years.
Or maybe not so secretly, he thought as he saw Hera waving at him from the window of her bedroom.
“Great”, Howzer muttered. He liked Hera, loved her like a little sister even, but he really didn’t want anyone watching this proposal. No one should know, in case you said no, an answer for which Howzer had to be prepared for. That’s the reason he had decided against asking for Eleni’s help in choosing a ring. Instead he had gone with a small silver band, engraved with the initials for both your and his first names. It was classic and simple.
And cheap, the nagging voice in his head insisted. Of course there had been many more beautiful rings, but the truth was that he couldn’t afford any of them, even the engraving had almost blown his budget.
He finally reached the bush behind which he knew you were hiding. The second he stepped around it and into your eyesight you had your arms wrapped around Howzer.
“I’m so glad to see you. I missed you”, you greeted him.
Howzer hugged you back for a few seconds before letting go to press a gentle kiss to your lips.
“I missed you more”, he whispered, his forehead leaning against yours.
You shook your head, a smile on your lips.
“That’s impossible.”
With a matching smile, though maybe just the slightest bit more nervous, Howzer grabbed your hand and lead you over to a thick log on the ground.
As soon as the two of you sat down you rested your head on his shoulder. It wasn’t the most comfortable, due to his armour, but being uncomfortable with Howzer was million times better than being comfortable alone.
Howzer tried his best not to look you in the eyes, which was a lot easier with your current position, because he knew the second you really looked at him you’d be able to tell that he was nervous about something. And he wanted to stall for just a few more moments, just in case the question he was about to ask would ruin everything.
“So”, he started. “How was your day?”
He didn’t need to ask twice. You began telling him all about the beautiful room the Syndullas had set you up in until you could find an apartment of your own. The university campus you had seen for the first time today and the classes you would take this semester.
“I can’t believe I’m finally going back to university after I had to leave when this stupid war started. Although, without this stupid war we never would have met, so I suppose that’s one positive thing about this whole kriffing mess.”
It’s now or never, Howzer thought.
“Speaking of us...”, he said. He nudged your head with his shoulder to make you lift it before taking both your your hands into his and looking you deep in the eyes. “I really don’t know how to say this. I’ve tried to practice, but everything sounded wrong, so I suppose I’ll just wing it.”
A horrified expression made its way to your face and if Howzer’s hands hadn’t been sweating so much he would have noticed moisture gathering in your own palms.
“Howzer, my darling, are you breaking up with me?”, you asked, voice shaking and tears threatening to spill. You couldn’t believe it. Just a few days ago he had seemed so happy to have you on Ryloth with him, he had told you he loved you, and now this?
Before you could do or say anything else Howzer began shaking his head frantically.
“No! Stars, no! Cyare, just listen to me.”
You nodded, although still a bit shaky.
“I’m so happy to have you here with me for the next two years, but that made me realize, or rather it’s one of the things that made me realize, that I want to have you right next to me for the rest of my life. I don’t know how long my life will be, even now that the war is over, I don’t know what the empire will do with us clones, but if you’ll let me, I will do everything in my power to never leave your side. I know I can’t offer you much, I don’t have a mansion like the one you grew up in, or even a house to call me own, I can’t give you jewelry or fine clothes or the best food, but everything I have, everything I am, I can give to you. I offer you my heart and my soul and I promise to do whatever I can to make you happy for as long as you want me to.”
After his last words he let go of one of your hands and knelt down in front of you on the ground. In the same swift motion he pulled a simple black box out of his holster where his blaster should be.
“(Y/N), cyar’ika, mesh’la, my beloved, my beautiful, my darling, my sun and stars, will you marry me?”
The tears that had been in your eyes earlier were now floating. Never had anyone said something like that to you, offered you so much and asked a question you never knew you wanted to hear.
But Howzer, in his worried state, misinterpreted your tears. He sat the box down on the ground and put a hand on your cheek, wiping away your tears with his thumb.
“I’m sorry, I’m so sorry. I should have known you wouldn’t want to marry a man who cannot offer you the riches you’re used to.”
Tears were now making their way down his cheeks as well. You shook your head, slowly at first, then violently. How could he think that that’s why you’re crying?
“Howzer, I love you. I love you whether you’re the richest man in the galaxy or the poorest, it doesn’t matter. I may like shiny things, but I’d marry you no matter what, even if you proposed with a paper ring.”
Within seconds his expression went from shock to relief to pure happiness and love. He lifted the box from the ground again and opened it, showing you the ring inside.
“It may not be paper, but I doubt this is worth much more.”
Laughter bubbled past your lips. Without thinking you leaned down and pressed a kiss to Howzer’s forehead, another to his cheeks, his eyelids and his nose, before your lips finally connected in a loving kiss.
“I still need an answer, mesh’la”, Howzer mumbled against your lips after you had separated to catch your breath.
You wouldn’t have thought it possible to smile even wider, but somehow you did.
“Yes. My answer is yes, Howzer. I will marry you.”
With a smile matching yours, and after another quick kiss, he gently slipped the ring on your finger.
And even though it was probably the cheapest thing you owned, it was also the most valuable and you loved it almost as much as the man who had given it to you.

I know my usual day to post is Friday, but I was listening to Paper Rings and thinking of the latest Bad Batch episode and this fic just came to me and I couldn’t wait to write and share it.
- Kissing his scar is actually something that always makes him smile. Getting his attention by placing a kiss right there on his cheek is the easiest way to pull him from whatever he’s doing.
- Speaking of that he has a tendency to work too hard on many an occasion. If you’re not there in the evening he may fall asleep on the couch holopad in hand with his work still there.
- He’s a sucker for starry nights and an ideal date is laying with you on a blanket talking about constellations. He’ll tell you battle stories and play with your hair.
- The love language he prefers to give and receive is touch. He is just a hands on person and with your permission always a hand on your arm, shoulder, waist, etc. Keldabe kisses are just his favorite thing in the world it’s more intimate than a kiss.
- He takes date nights very seriously and even if you can’t do anything crazy extravagant he makes sure that time is set aside as yours. There’s no interruptions allowed he wants to give all himself over and let you have all his attention. If he does have to leave he makes it up the next time you can see each other.
- He has the loveliest laugh just one you could listen to all day. I know that’s not dating related but I just had to add it.
- Loves taking date nights or alone time and turning it into self care for you becuase if you’re his s.o. he wants you hydrated, happy, and relaxed. That and it reminds him to take care of himself as well.
summary: and that was the moment hera realized you and the captain are definitely more than co-workers.
pairing: captain howzer / twi'lek!reader
a/n: this is most hera-centric but god i love her. here's some tender howzer content because we all know he loves strong women. referenced this ryl dictionary for some little bits and pieces! also, this beautiful gif is by @e-zra, from this gifset of howzer.
Moments of peace were rare nowadays.
Hera Syndulla seemed to see to it that they were even rarer.
"Hera..."
Your uttered complaint does little to satiate the young girl — that, you suppose, is Chem's side of her soul. Though her mother, Eleni, held a dash of mischief in her own heart, you'd come to realize that most of Hera's quirks were born from her father's influence.
She was headstrong; and when she wanted something, she got it.
Like now, when she's dragging you from the celebratory dinner, excusing you both. It wasn't as if you had any stake in staying. After all, Howzer had excused himself from the meal before it even began. Something about a debrief.
All the time to celebrate when the war is won, General.
Hera's hand is tight around your own as she drags you away from your more... political duties — and you're almost thankful.
Almost.
"Where are we going, lia’ry," the fond Ryl nickname for the girl rolls off your tongue as your lekku swat in irritation, "You're going to rip my arm off—"
"You have to show me," she babbles, out of breath as she drags you down the newly reclaimed corridors of the palace, "You promised—"
"Not during dinner—"
Hera suddenly stops dead in her tracks; a look of pure irritation sweeps across her face as she prods you in the stomach. Her own lekku have gone rigid, lips pulled into a pout.
"You've been gone for weeks, Alema!" she nearly shouts, looking as if she's about to be five again and stomp her feet.
You tsk, bending down. "Hera, you know I had no choice."
You didn't — no, you'd been by Chem's side for the last cycle, pushing back the occupation with success that has granted you this stay in the Southern Province. The palace, once home to the region's ruling family, is settled on lake — here, south of the Capital's border, the dust isn't so prevalent. It's not as dry. It's... well, it's beautiful.
"But, you promised."
"Promised what, exactly?"
You'd know that voice anywhere.
Your eyes lift from Hera's face, falling on the Captain and his gaggle of troopers meandering down the corridor. In the moonlight, Howzer looks... happy. Calm. Not so rigid, not so formal.
A rare sight.
It's like your whole world stops — just long enough that Howzer can offer a smile that makes the corners of his eyes wrinkle, and you're left staring at up him with parted-lips.
Moons protect me.
You try to will your lekku to relax. You can't help that the ends swat in interest. Hera watches, with dawning intrigue, as you try to hide the language behind your posture, and ignore the delicate tinkering sound the jewelry adorning them creates. Your dress pools against the cool clay tiles as you remain at Hera's level.
The young girl squints at you.
"Captain," you nod in soft greeting, "We were just talking about—"
"—About how alema," the word means protector in your tongue. It's a titled earned as Eleni's lady-in-waiting, and by being Chem's second-in-command, "Has refused to show me her marksmanship—"
Your jaw falls open. "I have not refused—"
Your ay’kou, your brothers in arms, behind Howzer are sporting grins. Doom and Fog watch the exchange with genuine curiosity. When you lean around Hera, giving the boys a pleading look, you're met with little snickers.
They're quick to bid their Captain a goodnight and head down the corridor past you and Hera towards their makeshift bunks.
"Hera," comes Howzer's gentle nudge, "Aren't you supposed to be attending your father's dinner?"
"We both are—"
"Senator Taa slurps when he eats," comes the sudden sharp commentary from the girl as she pokes you once more, "You said it yourself—"
Howzer muffles a laugh into a cough as you slap a hand over Hera's mouth. You give her a stern look, whispering I said no such thing in your native tongue. Hera is fast to laugh — no doubt amused at how the Captain seems to hang off your reaction.
It wasn't often he saw you like this... no, they were used to the guerrilla fighter, the tactician, the dead-eye shot. Never had you ever anticipated him seeing you here, playing big sister to the General's daughter. Though you've known this role for a long time, the war has been preoccupying your time.
You're beautiful.
It's not a new revelation; no, Howzer has thought it from the moment he met you. But, now in the calm of peace, you look... good. Not so battered by war. Softer. Like a woman he could marry someday when it's all said and done.
"I think someone is getting a bit bold," you say as you stand, "Dragging me from my meal—"
"You hate bantha!"
"It's an expensive import!" you hiss back, waving your hands to shoo Hera, but it does little to dissuade her as she laughs. You can't help how your face splits in two at the sight of her smile. You reach, thumb smoothing over her headband in a sisterly manner.
You catch Howzer smiling again.
"Bantha steaks, then?" comes his amused rumble, "I'm jealous."
"Yes, well, I was going to come and find you, Captain — offer up some..."
This time Hera sees the interested swat of your lekku in full. She can sense that... oh. You two are speaking like there's a joke there. Like there's something else beneath the surface of this exchange.
Then, she catches the tips of your tattooed lekku curl at the sound of his laugh. It's an enamored expression between Twi's. A language Hera has seen between her parents many times...
Oh.
OH?
Hera blinks.
Father never said anything about alema and Howzer.
...Does Father even know about alema and Howzer?
Does mother?!
The girl blinks rapidly between the two of you, too preoccupied with a soft look to notice.
Imagine Running From Imperial Troopers When You're Rescued By A Familiar Face
Captain Howzer X FemReader
Warnings: None
You gasped for air as you continued to run. How things ended up this way was mind-boggling, but you didn't have time to reflect on the past as the Imperial Stormtroopers chasing you grew ever closer. You were stuck on Ryloth with no escape. The Republic had hired you to gather Intel and work alongside Cham Syndulla himself to liberate Ryloth, but now you were fighting just to survive. The Jedi were gone, the clone troopers you grew fond of no longer themselves. You fought back the burn of tears but you couldn't keep going on. You were exhausted and the troopers were relentless. Just as you stopped ready to accept fate an armored hand grabbed your arm yanking you into a dark crack in the mountainside. You would have screamed but the same man covered your mouth silencing any noise. The troopers ran by but you couldn't relax due to the stranger.
"Sorry to scare you," he spoke and relief flooded your veins.
"Howzer?!"
"Not so loud," he shushed you but embraced you tightly.
"But I thought they imprisoned you?!" You hugged him back finally shedding tears, happy to see the man who had become so close to during the war.
"Heh I got friends. I'm glad to see that you're okay," Howzer gave you a once over, checking to make sure you weren't hurt.
"I wouldn't have been if you hadn't shown up," you sighed. "They're relentless."
"I know. But I'm here and I won't leave you again."
"I'll hold you to that," you laughed.
"Now let's get off this dustball. I got a ship and a few of my men are turncoats like me. We won't survive on this planet for much longer with the Imperial rule. So ready to go fight another battle together?"
You took his offered hand, holding onto him tightly.
"With you I'd spit in Palpatine's eye."
Howzer chuckled, "I had a feeling you would. Let's move out."
You followed Howzer you didn't know what was ahead but you did know that as long as you had him you could accomplish anything.
- He owns quite a few pairs of fuzzy socks for wearing around the house. He prefers it to being barefoot.
- Has a female Rottweiler as his only pet with some cute name like Daisy or Rosie. They are always going on hikes or having morning runs before he goes off to work.

- Psychological thrillers are his favorite types of movies.
- This man would love a big family he just adores kids so much. Even if it couldn’t happen he is big on just having lots of people around so he would be thrilled to be surrounded by friends and loved ones.
