hey uh guys...i really do not like when the main character of a franchise gets completely erased, ignored or overshadowed. and in my case the main character happens to be my favorite so...

idk i might get jumped for saying this but, is this my indirect way of confessing that as much as i love the marauders, i'm developing a kind of exhaustion towards them ? more like...towards their fandom ? kind of like a marauders fatigue. because damn man, they either don't give a flying fuck about harry or downright hate on him ? for no good reason ?

I don't understand how that works to be honest. The immense love for the dad, the mum, the godfather...but not for the little boy they died for ? They would've hated the way some of their "fans" treat Harry.

Idk, its not exactly resentment since i myself love the marauders, but this fandom is starting to get on my nerves. The takes can be extreme, very far fetched, and often misogynistic. Someone said Regulus's "abuse" which was not mentioned at all and something we know absolutely nothing about, was worse than Harry's :D

Yeah if this continues, I'm afraid I might flip at a 360° angle. The disrespect/disregard for Harry and his abuse is astounding.

i was reading an old blog post about theories for the last book and someone said "RAB is Regulus Alphard/Arcturus Black" and I cannot stop thinking about this

Regulus who was named Regulus Alphard Black, named after the brightest star in Leo and the brightest star in Hydra. Regulus, the heart of the lion, and Alphard, the backbone of the snake. Regulus, the little king, and Alphard, the solitary one.

The little king, only an heir as the second in line, as the spare. Prideful, knowing which duties he has as a son of the Noble and Most Ancient House of Black, even if he is only the younger brother. But still the heart of the lion, not just because he is loved by his Gryffindor brother, but because he gets to show his bravery in his own time. Brave at heart, even if it takes years to show.

The backbone of the snake, now the heir to one of the oldest pureblood families, Seeker of the Slytherin team, great enough to get taken up in Voldemort's rank at only sixteen years old, important enough to get close enough to the Dark Lord to find out his secrets. But still, the solitary one, because he figures those secrets out on his own, keeping them to himself. He'd been left behind before, left behind in a house now too empty and cold without his brother, so now he has to leave behind everyone else. Going on a mission with only the house-elf he calls his friend, intending to be the sole one to not make it out again.

Only Regulus doesn't get to stay Regulus Alphard. because before all of this transpires Alphard betrays the family and gets burned off the family tree. And Regulus' middle name gets changed to Arcturus, so there cannot be any doubt where his loyalties have to lie. Any associations between Regulus and that traitor of the Black family are irrevocably removed.

And isn't this a tragedy? Alphard on the night sky, halfway between Regulus and Sirius, a star right in the middle. And Regulus, no longer getting to associate with this star, is forced to distance himself further from his brother. He is no longer allowed to acknowledge what his second name used to be, and so loses this connection he used to have, is no longer able to call this star so much closer to his brother his own.

I think people often see a competent character and assume that must cancel out any lingering effects of neglect, for instance. Like, just because someone is high-functioning- capable, disciplined, good at their job and the things they do, etc. - that doesn’t mean they haven’t internalized deep patterns of selfneglect or detachment from their own physicality. You can keep a classroom spotless and still not look in the mirror. You can be controlled and meticulous in your work, you can scrub your speech, master your walk, and still carry the weight of never being cared for- and the belief that your appearance isn’t worth the effort, because that’s what you learned growing up. Being “high-functioning” doesn’t mean you’re healed. It often just means someone learned how to get by, by excelling outwardly, while quietly abandoning parts of themselves they were never taught to value.

Snape’s hair isn’t nessesarily a sign of “poor hygiene,” in my opinion, but a reflection of how someone raised without care might treat their own appearance. He doesn’t nurture himself in the ways others expect. That doesn’t make him incompetent, but it speaks to what’s been internalized, to how care wasn’t modeled or prioritized in the world he came from.

I mean, yeah, he’s refined and changed certain things, but emotionally, he’s still stuck. Still spending summers in the same house he grew up in. Still lashing out from the same place of resentment. And his appearance, especially his hair, has not changed. It’s the one external detail that’s stayed the same from childhood to adulthood. That’s not something I think is accidental. It reflects something frozen, something unprocessed. That continuity is the point. It’s thematically consistent. And frankly, it makes more sense to me than chalking it up to potions fumes or practicality.

I find the Chamber of Secrets to be such a weird idea...

We know from jkrs super thought out "wizards used to shit wherever and hex it away" post that Hogwarts did not get built with plumbing.

And yet - the Basilisk travels through PIPES. What fucking pipes? And the entrance is in a BATHROOM. A facility which - according to the wizarding worlds assigned insane defactation habits - DID NOT EXIST IN THE CASTLE.

This arises the following questions: How did Salazar Slytherin think this would work? Did he just build random pipes into the walls and the others failed to notice this? Did the chamber simply not have and entrance and MC Snake thought that someone in the future surely would figure that one out for him? (Also, what did the Basilisk eat for the hundreds of years it was locked in there? Animal cruelty!!!) And what did the person who eventually installed the plumbing and bathrooms think they were doing there? They must have seen the entrance when placing a fucking sink over a giant hole, right? Did they not question why there were pipes already? Was the plumber also beseeched by Salazars influence even after his death?

None of this makes any sense! It is almost as if someone hadn't put that much though into this

I love how every character from the marauders era has fans and antis but not Peter Pettigrew. I absolutely love how no matter whose side they're on every one unites and goes fuck tht guy, I hate him. If there r people who are sympathetic to him they're a very, very small minority. Lyk I'm not blaming this 20 yr old for not standing up against the darkest wizard of all time and not wanting to fight in a war, but he could hv just lived a normal life. Especially given his animagus form, he could have just gone and settled elsewhere if he was that terrified. He didn't hv to fucking betray ppl who trusted him, get his friends and (potentially) their infant son killed and frame his other friend so he's imprisoned for the rest of his life with creatures that make u relive ur worst memories and feed on ur soul.

And another day of DNFing and interesting Hp fic for ridiculous Ron bashing....

Do I really have to read only Ron centric fics???

Because I sometimes want to read something else?

But almost every time I read a different one it ends up painting Ron in the bad light for like literally no reason????

Like??? THIS IS A FIC ABOUT SOMETING ELSE!! RON IS NOT ONE OF THE MAIN CHARACTERS! HE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS!

You can easliy just be neutral about him, or make him not be involved in the story and barely mention him

If he is not involved in the storyline, why do you specifically have to include little bits of him just to paint him in a bad light??

If you actually hate him, just tag it " anti ron" or "Ron bashing"

And if you don't have that strong feeling, if you don't want to write a lot of bashing, then just LEAVE HIM ALONE! IGNORE HIM! its not that hard

harry and ron being the most underrated relationship in the entire franchise drives me up the fucking wall considering they are two main characters and their relationship is literally like half of the story? they love each other so much ron is literally the thing harry would miss most in the entire world we had a whole scene of dobby running around like CAN’T LET HARRY POTTER LOSE HIS WHEEZY!!! HIS WHEEZY !!!!!! they are literally best friends to lovers with that stage of growing up together where you don’t even realise you love love each other because this love has been the most natural and familiar thing forever? and they had their fair share of drama and squabbles too and ugh ron’s terrible fear of not being enough and being the least loved and harry not understanding that at all because to him ron has always been his number one? drives me up the fucking wall literally what the hell could you want more give them MOREEEEE
