I am reading Harry Potter and the Methods of Reason, so heres my hypothesis (aka science headcannon), so I have proof I figuired it out correctly/incorrectly
I still don't know how to put a read more on mobile, I tried, I failed, I'm sorry
Of the bat, I've been guessing an array of thing faster then Harry for many different reasons, and as someone who reads more fantasy then scifi and has an interest in hard magic systems, lets see how my idea holds up
Long stoey short, I think that a):
My housemate should look into the rules about creating new spells, as that should give him more material to craft a better hypithesis
Aaand, due to the existance of wandless speechless magic, I am inclided to conclude that both the speech and wand part are used to guide control focus and help with spellcasting, so a wizard can tame the untamable, can control magic.
And for language to be used at its fullest, for magic to be guided by spells, they use words that mean the things, you cant say Slickgardium Auqatosa and espect to levitate things, its more likely to turn something into water really.
And so, if you pronounce it a little differently, but ultimetely you know what it does, the spell should work, but maybe not as good, especially if you are a beginner at the whole magic thing
But its ultimetely a guide, so if you have no idea what its supposted to do, no spell should work at all.
And so, pronounciation use the pent up meaning of words, their cognitive power and such, to help a spell be cast, which is why you can cats a wordless spell, but if you pronounce a spell incorecrly it can have unpleasent conseqences.
And also why Hogwarts should probably have a class in Latin.
And the wand also acts as something to chanell your magic, and yes, I did have a lot of conspiracy theories regarding how wands are used as a cap on wizards power and were put from the muggle ministry after we had a big war, and it is true that in a way they can put a cap, but I have come to believe that they are mostly a cruch that many wizards just dont give up. You can do magic with a wand, you can do some without, its just much harder.
So that is my hypothesis, also I think wizards, transifugartion especially, uses magic as a way to turn reality into something else, but in order to use it you must have a very good cognitive picture of what it is you want to do
In general: If you read enought hard fantasy systems you can have a better database of how magic CAN be expected to work, its mostly thru the cognitive of the wizard and it tends to be a power, but that does add questions if you still accept the law of equivalent echange, but if you decide it works like in dynamics, being a wizard has potential energy, and every time you use it you also exaust a little of your potential energy, which is why you get tired, but as the conditions again become the same you potential energy relepishes, but we still do not know much about magic as an emergy, which is my preferable way to think of it, its energy that obeys your thoughts, to put it simply, but uts easier to channel with the help of words and special wood with a core of something that in itself is magical and has a connection to it,
Sooo, I was right about the ComedTea, but thats because I am very used to the closed time circuts, as they are my preferable type, and as the ComedTea was the most easily moveable part, I just assumed it was the one moving. On the other hand it was so adorable seeong Harry thing that Albus was crazy all because of him
I storngly wish I new how to properly put coments on that fic, that I found it on Ao3 or something, but here we are
I also went into snapes class with " How many candles can Fred and George actually fit on a cake?" And I think Harry won't really benefit from Querells(Riddles) teaching of how to loose, as I believe learning how to loose from Hermoine will be a better lesson for him, but not just learning how to loose, but how to loose with poise and dignity. But yeah, when Querell starts the afterclass activities, we might see some war tactics, that is something I am actually very intersted in, but well see.
Now I have to go and see.
