so tired of ppl from the north (US) thinking that everyone from the south is just bigoted... had a convo w/ someone today where they kept being like 

person: so isn’t everyone from (hometown) really homophobic?

me: uhhhhh no? i live in a pretty big city, its fairly liberal.

person: but you’re like. you’re from the south. you live in (state i live in). like c’mon they must all suck, right? god, i can’t imagine having to live in the south.

me: again, im aware of my state’s reputation, but i think you are forgetting that i live in one of the largest cities of the US. there are a LOT of queer people there. yeah, once you get to more rural areas, you start seeing some more of the bigotry but again (hometown) is quite liberal.

it is interesting how i can still, 4 years after my diagnosis after having suspected my whole life, be thinking “but surely EYE i am not disabled by it, i just struggle to function on a day to day basis” while my new therapist is all but patting me on the head going “that’s literally what being disabled means, bitch”

Lately I’ve been reading up more on painting portraits. And a lot of my sources are [understandably] talking about the ins and outs of capturing skin tones and colours.

But I’m noticing that the vast majority of them are actually talking about capturing Caucasian skin tones and colours -- without specifying this. Like Caucasian is some sort of default.
