found out today that my dad is evil how are we doing today guys

I already knew my dad was a huge creep.

Every day when he would take me home from school he had this enamel pin on his car's AC, it was just a pair of tits with those tassles on them (when the AC was on they would fly around). I follow him on tiktok, he talks about he was the victim of abuse in his reposts (he wasnt, he cheated on his wife), and he likes to be very open sexually

But today I heard so much worse. My sibling described an instance at their 19th birthday, where our dad (first said something transphobic to my sibling :/) openly admitted to having sex with girls who were DRUGGED and taken to the forest.

He also was incredibly abusive to my sibling. Back when they had to go to therapy, they would get beaten after every therapy session where they said our dad was a bad person.

Not to mention..

I have my suspicions about him. He insists on walking behind me constantly, he pointed out a hole in my pants that you would only notice if you looked for it. I am the only kid he didn't abuse, and I'm AFAB.

I am terrified of him, I have huge gaps in my childhood memories, I'm the type to forget traumatic events.

One of my biggest fears in life is hurting other beings, whether it be physically or emotionally.

Yet I still watch videos about terrible people (e.g. true crime, internet controversy, people being terrible in general, etc).

It puts me into distress sometimes, because these people do such terrible things to others, but today it hit a new point.

I watched two videos. Both of the people the videos were about? They were my age.

I struggle with intrusive thoughts that instill fear into me. I've been actively working to cope with them. After seeing these videos, my mind spiraled out of control.

"What if I did something like this?"

"What if I'm just as terrible as these people?"

And then I thought:

I don't get it.

How are people my age doing these kinds of things?

How have we as a society failed these people, these children, so severely?

This is not me saying that their actions are excusable just because they're minors

This is me questioning how kids are getting the idea to join neo-n4zi groups and support eugenics, the idea to drug their friends to try to assault them, the idea to make threats, the idea to spread hateful rhetoric.

How have we let the internet and the media children consume to become so flawed?

How have we let child abuse go unstopped?

How have we let people go uneducated?

How have we allowed hatred to infiltrate everything?

How have we managed to foster so many hateful, deeply flawed young people?

It scares me.
