The way my Heart explodes with Joy anytime there are well-written alt/Punk people in a piece of media
reading about the participation of children in rituals as a form of play in ancient greece and came across an incredibly charming story from julius pollux's onomasticon where a flood prevented the adults from reaching a sanctuary to sacrifice a ram to heracles, and the children solved the problem by....sticking a bunch of sticks in an apple to give it "legs" and "horns" and offering it as a sacrifice instead. it's such a charming thought and i can perfectly picture kids these days also pretending at sacrificing an apple "goat" at recess

#‘’we are obliged to keep this data for 4 weeks after which it will be destroyed’’#versus#‘’we are obliged to keep this data for 4 weeks after which YOU will be destroyed’’
you’re right. after which you will be absolutely fucking obliterated
Ich will das Twink vernichtet
once I snorted a fat line of nuance and everything started depending. watch out
actually annoyed by long distance friends again. i want to go for a walk i want to get drinks i want to sit in the grass and write i want to go to the fucking store together
What Greek mythology propaganda will you NEVER fall for?
Man where do I start? Uhhh Imma just list a few things, there might be more in the future, or less
The Trojans are innocent babies that never did anything wrong
OdyPen/Menelen had absolutely no issues when they got back together
Trojans/Thracians were just greek, their distinct cultures are irrelevant because they worshipped hellenic gods/laws
The gods taking away everyone's autonomy to the point mortals are just marionettes
""X,Y,Z" was an innocent baby!!" when describing a war criminal
Giving -character- nuance is bad because -random action they performed at war or smth-. As if that's not basically every character in some way
You can't treat mythology as fiction(even though it is)
Treating children like grown adults because it was normal BACK THEN/Incest is fine because it's BACK THEN(Talking about people nowadays not saying the ancient greeks were devils for this obviously)
X,Y,Z adaptation is bad because it's inaccurate(Wow inaccuracy almost like that's the point of an ADAPTATION)
*holds your shoulders derangedly* is it too much to ask to characterize Menelaus right
goddess of wisdom, lady athena!
Always a "maybe", never enough
So this is gonna be a hella hot take nowadays but whatever. The whole "You can't write "_blank_" if you haven't experienced it yourself!" is so fucking stupid. Like-that's what writing is fucking about, what can I not write about murder cuz I haven't been murdered yet???? It's so braindead. People need to understand that you have to depict things badly before you can depict them well.
Neoptolemus was absolutely wrong for what he did of course, but at the same time it feels like all the other adults around him stuck a child into a war under the weight of his father's shadow and acted surprised when that child ended up psychotic.
Yes, the play Philoctetes portrays this the best. There’s no denying he’s a child being ruined by war.
