wearing me out
I wear the best of the simplest plains,
Fabrics fit for weather and eventfulness.
I’ve never cared for the catching of the eyes,
I simply thread through crowds impressionless.
Lies under lies, under layers, underlying anxiety,
Overlies the appearance of togetherness.
I won’t look down nor throw up my flamboyance satiety,
I wear my chin high even with my lowliness.
I stay a confident being, though insecure.
I’m almost certain though never sure,
If I stay myself under pressure, under garments
My truest self might be worn out, but never worn off.
