I’ve been forcibly put on the Cliff Marleau/Marlow train (I sought it out) so here are my hyper specific head-canons for him
- He’s from Montreal (don’t tell Boston) but he’s fully anglophone and his French is awful
- His the oldest of four siblings, 2 brothers and a sister
-His sister is only like a year younger than him and he yo-yos between “you’re a baby” and “ you’re the only responsible adult I know”
-His family isn’t necessarily a hockey family but they are a contact sports family, his dad played rugby
- He’s Irish, his dad immigrated during the troubles, his mother is from Gatineau
-It’s the specific brand of Irish that exist in Montreal and Boston where there are so many of them that it becomes almost it’s own identity
- He went to selwyn house for high school, that’s so specific but know that as a montealer, I’m right
-He’s not dumb, if you take the time to explain something judgment-free he’ll remember it forever
-If he asks a question and he feels that you’re judging him he’ll shut down
-He swears like a sailor and has been through so much media training in order to turn it off, it hasn’t worked yet
-He knew Ilya wasnt straight since the olympics, just vibes, never figures out how to bring it up
-He figures that if it were him, he’d want people to be the same, so literally nothing changes
-He’s met Svetlana and is legitimately scared of her, something about how she knows more about his playstyle than he does makes him think she’d have no trouble killing him
-His full name is Cliffton Brian Thomas Marlow/Marleau
-His whole family gets together at his aunts house in the Easter townships (he bought it for her) every 5 years
-His relationship with his dad is complicated at best, non-existent at worst
-His brothers have kids that he loves
-His sister has a cat that he loves equally named metro that hates him
-His sister finds this endlessly funny
-Sometimes his sister will tell him a story from a date gone wrong that she thinks is hilarious and he looks like a soldier seeing war
