Omar Ortiz The Dark Room III (2022) Pintura al óleo - Arte hiperrealista
Omar Ortiz is a Mexican artist specialized in hyper-realistic art. He describes hyperrealism as "a minimalist art where the human figure predominates, backgrounds full of texture and a magical play of fabrics characterize his work." His art, for the most part, is worked in oil. He describes that ever since he started painting he has always tried to represent things as real as possible. He also says "I really enjoy the challenge of reproducing skin tones in natural light and the nuances it gives us, particularly in very bright environments. I like to keep the pieces simple, since I believe that excesses make us poorer than richer."
¿Qué despierta en mi esta obra? / What does this work awaken in me?
The work in the photograph is one of three parts of Ortiz's series of The Dark Room. This includes a nude woman posing with her hands up. For me, hyperrealism has always been something that I have admired, since it seems fantastic to me how it is that a person/artist manages to capture with paint something that, as the word describes it, looks so real, that it seems like a photograph. I have followed Ortiz's work for a couple of years now and every time I see one of his works I am impressed. In this work The Dark Room III, I find the woman's hair super impressive, as it seemed, as I already mentioned, as if it were a photograph. As he mentions on his website, the color and skin tones in this work are quite accurate, as well as the human features such as her face, bust, and hands.
