So I’m pretty sure I’m fucked for the semester.

To start at the beginning:

I was a little late in getting my financial aid applied for.  And that’s my fault, I know that.  I put a down payment to guarantee my spot until the financial aid would kick in.  $580~590.  Two days into the semester, I go to get my books from our book store, and they tell me that I have no financial aid.

So I’m a little worried, because it should have came in by now.  I sign in to speak to a financial adviser to see what was up.  I was late for work that day because I had gotten mysteriously taken off the waiting list twice and had to wait five hours to learn that I was denied of financial aid because I had not met satisfactory requirements.

The requirements are simple.  2.0 cumulative GPA, cannot take over 90 credit hours, no disciplinary actions against you.  And last semester I had made a 3.66 GPA, so I thought I was doing great!

However...  I had taken college three years ago in a completely different school, completely different major.  Tried nursing, honestly did not do so well.  But the kicker is that the year after I had went to that college, the old one and the one I’m at now merged.  And I guess that means the records merged together too, because I now had a cumulative GPA of 1.95.

I could file an appeal.  The deadline was the very next day though, which left me with less than twenty four hours to get everything I needed.

And I did it.  I damn well did it.  And I got the appeal approved.

But by the time the financial aid actually kicked into my account, the school had stopped giving out book vouchers and also ran out of the books I needed.  They told me to wait for the next shipment.  It was rough, because one of the instructors we have literally got their class two days before the start of the semester.  He teaches straight out of the book and can hardly explain any questions asked.

But I did.  This Tuesday (August 30th), they finally had gotten the books I needed.  So I picked them up and brought them to the counter.  Told them “I’d like to use my financial aid to purchase these.”

...  They told me that they had stopped taking financial aid as payment on Monday.  And any left over financial aid that was not used would be returned in the middle of October.

So I’m out all my books.  I’m out most of my money.  And now the one instructor who knew how to teach and answer questions quit today because the school cut his pay.

Not to mention a third instructor is hardly here because he’s sick almost all the time.

So that’s 3/5 instructors that cannot do their jobs, absolutely no textbooks that I need, I’ve got maybe fifty dollars in my bank account...

Don’t you just love the American educational system?
