Scum Villain AU where Yue Qingyuan is also Tianlang Jun's nephew.

TLJ's sister liked to get around, okay? She was a free spirit! Experimental! She didn't just go right to fucking a snake, a couple of years prior to that she was carousing her way through the human realms, bringing back the sorts of thing that sparked her younger brother's interest and hooking up with whatever humans took her fancy. Which wasn't very many (boring) but there was this one brothel madam who caught her eye, extremely creative woman, would have been all over figuring out the logistics of snake-fucking if TLJ's sister ever needed the help. They had quite a few good times together, some of which involved third or fourth or even whole crows of others.

So after a few such revelries, TLJ's sister falls pregnant. She could abort it herself with just a nudge of her blood parasites, but the brothel madam is like no way any child of yours would be amazing, if you don't want it then give it to me instead! And TLJ's sister is like, sure that seems like an appropriate "thanks for the memories" type parting gift before I have to head back to the demon realms, and sticks around long enough to bequeath the newborn to her.

Unlike Zhuzhi Lang, she doesn't mention this part to her younger brother. Mostly because she doesn't have any reason to think that Half Human Jr will have any problems in his life. He came out looking normal, he's in the human realms being raised by the best human she knows, he's probably gonna have a great life. Way better than the boring crap purebred Heavenly Demons have to put up with!

Well, the brothel madam actually does adore the little guy, but while Yue Qi is still a baby her fortunes change. Her establishment runs afoul of a powerful public official, some of their competitors get nasty, and within a few years she's been poisoned and Yue Qi has been sold into bondage along with all her other assets to pay off her debts.

Things progress more or less like usual until the sects are setting up their ambush against Tianlang Jun, and Yue Qingyuan goes to fight him and TLJ is just like "wait a minute" and calls a time-out to ask him some pressing questions about his parentage. Which catches Yue Qingyuan just off his guard enough for him to notice that TLJ doesn't actually seem to be a bloodthirsty monster hellbent on destroying humanity, which in turn calls into question some of the Huan Hua Palace Master's claims...

On one hand, I don't think that Shen Yuan's plan to "fake" his own death is actually a bad escape idea generally. He is missing additional insight into the head of a person (Luo Binghe) who now has very good reason to hate him forever and (in another life) famously likes to take gruesome revenge on anyone who has ever wronged him. Only way to get away from that kind of grudge, it seems.

On the other hand, the death that actually gets executed ends up being SO wildly dramatic and mind-bogglingly mysterious and unintentionally gut-wrenching that it's... laughable. A lot of this is not really Shen Yuan's fault, imo, as a lot of wild cards were coming up and his escape window was closely rapidly, so he seized it while he could. But the sheer MESS left behind... Incredible.

So, I'm currently imagining a scenario where Shen Yuan chooses and somehow manages to frame someone specific for his "fake" death. There needs to be some little story, right? Shen Yuan picks some truly loathsome demonic villain to blame like he's planning protagonist enrichment: Binghe can take some nice revenge on these losers for them "stealing" his original revenge from him. Neatly tied loose ends!

Airplane: "Holy shit, I don't know if I hate anyone this much to do this to them, bro. Wow. Okay. This'll be... uh, fun? Haha, what the fuck..."

Even better if Shen Yuan's scheme basically destroys Shen Qingqiu's body so that no one can do any weird necromancy shit. SUCCESS: Shen Yuan wakes up in the plant body a few years later. (Maybe the System is back; maybe it's mysteriously vanished.) He's expecting Luo Binghe to be more or less back on the path to becoming Demon Emperor of the world now that that strange Huan Hua Palace subterfuge isn't necessary... except... uh...

Well, it turns out that Luo Binghe and Cang Qiong Mountain Sect teamed up to curbstomp the poor villains that Shen Yuan threw into traffic here, and known Heavenly Demon Luo Binghe is just... hanging out on Qing Jing Peak again. There's a- ahem... obviously highly fictionalized song claiming that Luo Binghe basically had a breakdown cursing the evils of demons in front of Liu Qingge... and apparently they were both so mad at Shen Yuan's targets that they forgot to be mad at each other? And somewhere in there, the other peak lords got involved, and Wei Qingwei and Mu Qingfang did NOT like that cursed sword, and thankfully Yue Qingyuan was there to help wrestle a distraught Luo Binghe down at the end there, for Shen Qingqiu's sake.

Airplane: "Yeah, bro, I really don't fucking know. My protagonist is maybe getting something like therapy now...? Yue Qingyuan and Liu Qingge still look like they're chugging vinegar sometimes, but they're maybe trying to 'respect your memory' or some shit. Huan Hua Palace is sooo mad. Do you know how much shit we're getting from the other sects constantly for having a demon disciple? You broke them, bro. You broke my fucking story. Luo Binghe is teaching a junior painting class later and then going out on the town for drinks with his old classmates afterwards... If he's going to burn the sect down at some point, then he's being really fucking weird about it."

And Shen Yuan is, of course, horrified that he has apparently caused the protagonist to lose his groove. Were his deathbed words of wisdom too much? Luo Binghe is acting like some... normal guy trying painfully but earnestly to get over something? He has a pet dog. He's bringing snacks to weekly games night with other senior disciples. He's acting like a widower instead of collecting wives. It's incredibly "pathetic" compared to the ruthless go-getter main character of PIDW.

Shen Yuan, watching Luo Binghe try to achieve mental stability and healthy outlets: "Wow, it's worse than I thought. He's not himself at all! Should I do something to fix this?"

Airplane, who's kind of pissed that his story is in ruins but also lives here now and knows the way that PIDW was supposed to end: "Uh, maybe? Wow, I guess you could, if you really want... The broken System might like that, but... Quick question: bro, do you for real hate this kid?"

i wanted to ask a question that's been on my mind since i started getting into chinese history dramas. i know that chinese history is divided into the various dynasties. since the empire form of government has been (rightfully) overthrown by the modern people, is the contemporary pop culture love for these royals settings a topic of debate among chinese people? is it considered problematic or wrongfully nostalgic and romantic by some? i'm also from a country that did away with its royal family recently in modern times and discussing it can lead to hot debates, so i was curios how it's handled by the public opinion in china. I hope this is understandable, thank you again in advance 😊

This is a really interesting observation. There is indeed criticism about Qing Dynasty costume dramas being overly romanticized, and many viewers strongly dislike palace intrigue shows - especially time-travel versions. But the debates usually focus on historical distortions rather than any glorification of imperial rule.

For example, portraying the prosperous Kangxi-Qianlong era like a "CEO romance" fantasy, exaggerating harem schemes and catfights, or even vilifying historically decent figures - like how Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace was skewered for its completely fictionalized, negative portrayal of Empress Xiaoyichun aka lingfei令妃, who was actually well-regarded in historical records.

After the Qing Dynasty ended in 1912, China underwent a thorough republican revolution. Any restoration attempts (like the 1917 coup that briefly reinstated Puyi) failed within days. To make this more concrete: There's this viral video showing a cosplayer dressed as Puyi walking down the street (Aisin-Gioro Puyi (1906–1967) was the last emperor of China, crowned at age two and later deposed. After living as a puppet ruler under Japanese control, he became an ordinary citizen under Communist China). People's reactions to him perfectly capture how modern Chinese view the last emperor: more historical curiosity than reverence. They took a neutral, easygoing stance, free from praise or criticism. so a few days ago i was thinking about this post+comic, and i thought that while svsss luo binghe probably wouldn't try to Actually kill liu qingge, pidw luo binghe absolutely would. ergo, imagine, if you will. an au where peerless cucumber doesn't transmigrate in as shen qingqiu, but airplane still becomes shang qinghua. due to plot differences, airplane-bro doesn't really care about what the hell kind of drama the other peak lords are getting up to, but still somehow happens to knock over a book or something- something that, through bullshit plot contrivance butterfly effect, somehow manages to let shen jiu actually save liu qingge in the lingxi caves.

some years pass, years where liu qingge is going through a fantastical knightly enemies to ??? where he slowly learns he may have initially misjudged this man who may not be the paragon of virtue but is nonetheless a person worthy of respect with a possible sordid past that resulted in a difficult disposition and now has to kneel down and admit then make up to his failures, as shen jiu is like "what kind of fucking scheme is he trying to pull", which results in like a weird strained kind of coworkers who Don't Talk About It type relationship. the immortal alliance conference still happens, everything proceeds as in canon, except- when bingge comes back from his 5-year internship in tartarus and does his pidw-canon-typical "destroy shen jiu's reputation and lock him up in the water prison" shenanigans, it turns out that liu qingge Can and Will try to break shen jiu out -not because he really likes the guy all that much, necessarily, but he has a life debt to pay back and also has already dragged his one (1) braincell through the grinder in order to realise his assumed-evil coworker is probably not actually one-dimensionally evil, so he feels complicated enough about it to try and get some actual answers in here - and if that involves kicking demon ass that's just a fun bonus. normally, all this would not be an issue for demon emperor luo binghe who has recently basically come into nigh full power if you discount xin mo being grumpy, because, as established he would not hesitate to kill his former shishu! in fact, he'd be very glad to do that! however, for item out of designated boundary reasons, liu qingge Will Not Fucking Die.

liu qingge has already sacrificed his last braincell to trying to comprehend his shattered worldview of shen jiu as a person and therefore he does not examine why he is Actually so determined to break him out, and also doesn't have enough brainpower to feel torn by the fact that duelling luo binghe every week is actually kind of fun (and also why he kind of has a boner about it). shen jiu has a moral crisis about the fact that the man who he's first hated then avoided for like over a decade is now the one guy who keeps trying to legitimately come back for him and is willing to risk death over and over in order to do that, and also that somehow this pisses the beast off enough to distract him from the whole revenge/ripping off limbs thing- except now he's for some reason coming down to the water prison to rant about it? luo binghe, for his part, does not know why he's ranting about it to shen jiu of all people (it started as taunting! then it became some kind of weird routine because that one guy just cannot cease being alive and what is UP with that) and while he does have enough braincells to question why fighting liu qingge every week feels more stable than any other relationship he's had in his life since his mother died, he absolutely refuses to examine it. none of them are making it out of this normal. the clown music gets louder every time they're in one location. huan hua keeps having to dish out more and more repair funds for the bai zhan war god's going ham most destructive. the three clowns are locked in a mario/peach/bowser dynamic stalemate none of them actually want to be in, but it's what fate has dealt, and some god is probably laughing at their miseries.

(meanwhile, god is not laughing. god is wondering what the fuck happened here and how it got to this point and also if this means he might put some of his fake-his-own-death plans on hold just to see what kind of bullshit happens next. ...god also really wishes he could invent popcorn.)

I keep thinking about this hc of Mu Qingfang being the only peak lord (or only male cultivator too from what I've seen) to survive Luo Binghe's regim and how that could play out.

A concept I've seen is that he survived by pure chance. They let him there not making sure if he was actually dead and persevered to later cure himself. But then what would he do? He's alone and the other major sects have long fallen under LBH's army. He can only try and continue living like a common mortal.

Another concept that seems popular is that he was keep alive for his talent in the medical field. Being forced to the role as the harem's physician and kept merely for how useful he is. But then, would LBH let him walk freely knowing that he was a gold core and could escape at any moment? They would have to tie him with immortal-binding cables if they don't want to happen. I'm sure that most of LBH's wifes are non-cultivators so transmiting spiritual energy wouldn't be needed as a treatment. And if they did, they could just watch over him to ensure that he won't use his qi for anything else.

I'm pretty sure that there is not need for large amounts of rope to prevent the spiritual energy to flow so they could just tie it around his hands to limit his qi.

If I don't remember wrong, SQQ mentioned that "Luo Binghe repaid kindness threefold, but those who wrong him shall be repaid tenfold."

So Mu Qingfang been let as the last one standing could be a merciful act by LBH to return the possible kindness that MQF handed him in the past. Which brings me to Gratitude by DrunkServal, where this exact thing happens. During the raid of Cang Qiong, MQF is brought into a luxury room inside Huan Hua Palace as to show LBH's gratitude for treating him and being the only one to help him.

The fic ended with an ambiguous ending (in my opinion) as MQF will stay in HHP as there is nothing else for him out there (and also he rejected LBH's "kindness").

And I keep thinking about it because this is LBG we are talkiong about. He would take anything by force if needed but I also think that he would try to charm his way in first as to not scare his pray away. But how could he repay his Shishu while also completing his revenge and destroy the sect that cause him so much pain?? However way he gets his hands on Qingfang, the doctor won't be happy one bit about the situation and that's for sure. But that also depends on how much MQF had helped LBH in the past to deserve that much effort to reach him. In the fic it said that MQF slipped medicine through the woodshed's holes, but I kind of thought it would be more upon NYY insistance (NYY convinced LBH to go to Qian Cao and they just went straight for the peak lord as I don't think MQF would have much time to properly investigate LBH's punishments, specially after YQY not doing anything and/or dismissing the situation, but after finding out the severe wounds he would definitely do something)

Anywat, what I'm saying is that MQF being the sole survivor is a really fun concept that opens to a countless possibilities of why, how, and what will happen to these two.

Some more Plant Baby SY Ramblings

This time delving more into Gongyi Xiao, Luo Binghe and Huan Hua! (I had a lot of ideas floating around in my head, but wasn't sure how to convey them in comic or art format, so you get this infodump instead <3)

((Though some information will be kept secret for the future arcs such as Jinlan City :3c))

During LBH and GYX's time in the Abyss, they're of course able to get to know each other a lot better as they rely on each other to survive. This also leads to many times where they just talk about anything and everything (though lbr between both of their crushes, SY is often a topic of conversation ((even if it took a while for LBH to accept that it's okay for others to have a crush on SY, though GYX actively trying to help LBH get back to SY has helped his case lmao))

It's in one of these conversations where LBH brings up why GYX approached SY at the Immortal Alliance Conference to begin with. Seeing as SQQ had made an effort to keep SY away from other sects, especially Huan Hua's contingent. Leading to GYX essentially going "Oh the Palace Master wanted me to make connections with other sects, probably to help for when I become palace master, though he did insist I go to SY first for some reason, which is kind of weird since he's not the head disciple or a member of Qiong Ding-" LBH is sitting there, knowing some things about SY's origins, spiritual energy and how protective SQQ is over him, and is actively putting together some Very Concerning dots about the possible reasons Why the Palace Master would want to go behind SQQ's back to have some one from his sect befriend SY.

LBH is used to people who are cruel and manipulative, whilst GYX is still a little bit naive to Huan Hua's more corrupt ways, having been raised in the sect. So when LBH starts pointing out the inconsistencies in logic, GYX eventually also starts to have some doubts. But those don't fully solidify until the two of them make it out of the Abyss and to Huan Hua Palace. Because with this new lens and LBH being there to point out some of the manipulation or suspicious activities going on (as well as how creepy OPM is to LBH as well), they both decide to make it there mission that the OPM does not get anywhere near SY even in they're relying on HHP to eventually reunite with him. The exact reasons Why the OPM is interested in SY are unclear to them, but nothing they could come up with is good in any way. (it's also a spoiler so y'all will have to wait and see :3c)

Another aspect to LBH and GYX's return to HHP is that LBH is not trying to become the Palace Master in this AU and is instead helping GYX root out corruption and ensure his survival to become the Palace Master. Which means LBH out here dodging the OPM's attempts to make him both a disciple of Huan Hua and the head disciple at that. The reasoning behind this is one, LBH now has a lot of trust in GYX from their time in the Abyss, and therefore can trust him to run HHP and have connections through it. And two, LBH knows how SY feels about demons, being that they're the same as anyone else. It was SQQ that scorned him at the IAC for his heritage so unlike canon, he isn't going to try and prove that he's a righteous only human cultivator to SY. (In fact, SY already had a slight suspicion that LBH may have some non-human heritage, but how much and what kind was unknown) LBH is now currently focused on ensuring SY's safety and trying to reunite with him so that he can finally court him properly.

Okay so random idea that hasn't left my mind.

SVSSS Rival Idol Groups.

So, two groups. Cang Qiong and Hua Huan.

Cang Qiong- Yue Qingyuan, Shen Jiu, Shang Qinghua, Mu Qingfang, Qi Qingqi, Liu Qingge

Hua Huan- Tianlang-Jun, Luo Binghe (tried to join Cang Qiong at first but was denied), Zhuzhi-Lang

Both- Shen Yuan

Now let me explain, both groups work under the same major company but have rivalries between the two of them for various reason. They share a studio but try and time things so they don't meet up.

Now, Shen Yuan joined the industry a bit late and there was an issue in his contract. Due to this issue he was technically apart of both groups. Could the company have fixed this, sure, but did they, no. So, Shen Yuan switches between the two groups.

Shen Yuan is of course not limited to his wifebeam only by svsss standards of course so he has both these groups wrapped around his finger (even if he doesn't really know).

Problem 1: Sharing a favorite idol between the two groups causes parts of the rivalry problems

Problem 2: The types of work now done.

Hua Huan's group is more known for darker themes within thier music, think like a mix between dark romance and heartbreaker stuff.

Cang Qiong is more pop based.

Pretty big difference between the two, oh does is cause problems tho for the other groups.

Cang Qiong sees Shen Yuan acting fucking seductive as hell in any sorta Hua Huan music/videos etc. Hua Huan sees Shen Yuan acting like a whole entire angel in anything Cang Qiong films. Both groups knows how Shen Yuan actually acts of course but God damn if the switch up doesn't kill some of them. (R.I.P. Liu Qingge after seeing Shen Yuan do anything suggestive in a Hua Huan video)

Okay, so background info down. Now to the idea plaguing my mind for the past week. "SIX the Musical". Cang Qiong had decided to do a fan film stunt for a musical voted on by fans. This is how it goes.

Mu Qingfang plays Catherine of Aragon -> sings "No Way"

Shang Qinghua plays Ann Bolyen -> sings "Don't lose your head"

Yue Qingyuan plays Jane Seymour -> sings "Heart of stone"

Qi Qingqi does the song "Haus of Holbien" as a joke for the most part but still kills it

Liu Qingge plays Anne of Cleves -> sings "Get down"

SHEN YUAN plays Catherine Howard -> sings "all you wanna do" (if that doesn't kill far to many people with the dancing involved to match the song then I don't know what would)

Shen Jiu plays Catherine Parr -> sings "I don't need your love"

It goes great-ish! Only a couple nose bleeds from the fans.

(OH YEAH, forgot to mention but in any song you know damn well that Qi Qingqi is playing an male characters. Fake mustache and everything, "Oh so I have a little flirt with the footman [get down]" and Qi Qingqi is there fake blushing acting like the footman while Liu Qingge is still acting)

Oh and in Haus of Holbien you know damn well the lyrics are taken into account of for the group. "You bring the corsets, we'll bring the cinches, no one wants a waist of nine inches" you know damn well someone is being forced into a corset screaming and kicking (shen jiu). "Try these heels, so high it's naughty. But we cannot guarantee that you'll still walk at 40" Mu Qingfang is struggling for his life trying to get up while wearing like 5-6 inch heels.

(Also added note, I am aware that some of the things with like Qi Qingqi's part sounds off. The idea so that she could still be involved was to put Haus of Holbien as it's own song with it's own singer and different choreography for the songs then the typical from the musical)

Hmmm! Well, there's fragmentation, which is where Shen Yuan spawns in as basically Yue Qingyuan's identical twin. The ship there is SY/MQF.

"Stone Fruits" is kind of BingQiu with NYY as well, though more SY/LBH/NYY since SY transmigrates into an NPC, not SQQ. But I don't think that counts. I've talked about frag before, but...

"Glorious Mishaps" , it's cumplane raising Binghe. There's a few things in this one. For starters, I started writing on it before the extras, so I didn't know SQH's real name, and as such it's ignored.

Second, they are both rogue cultivators. AND. They didn't die, but got a kind of Inuyasha-themed isekai going on, where they can keep going back and forth, though their bodies change and they keep having to track down the next exit out of PIWD, as it doesn't stay in place.

Seems very complicated. It's not. It's mostly an excuse writing Cumplane adopting baby Binghe, SY beefing with teenage SJ and cumplane being lowkey wanted by everyone for stealing artifacts and pulling off bullshit ideas.

It is the coldest winter in a decade.

Or so they’ve been told, anyway. It’s not like they were in this world a decade ago; two months at most, and most of it was cold and dreary. The novelty of snow was gone in about a day, and right now Shen Yuan wonders if his breathing alone will spawn icicles. It is colder than usual, though. So it being the coldest winter ever sounds about right. 

“I think we got turned around,” Airplane says, trying to shield the map from the wind. Once the snow turned knee-high, they decided to just stand on their swords. Because they are cultivators and can do that. 

It makes for shitty map-reading, but at least they look cool. And their feet stay dry. 

“How did we get turned around?” Shen Yuan asks, drifting closer to look over Airplane’s shoulder, squinting against the wind, “what the fuck? We have been going towards Huan Hua’s territory? We were aiming for Zhao Hua Monastery! How the fuck did you read it this wrong!? Give me that!” 

“Hey! They’re neighbors, it’s not that bad!” Airplane protests, pushing hair out of his face, “we just gotta not actually enter their territory and we will be totally cool.” 

“I’m not paying another speeding ticket. If we get caught by them again, I swear, you will pay for it.”

“Aw, c’mon, bro. I paid for lunch last time! You ate so many pork buns.”

“Fuck off,” Shen Yuan straightens out the map, angling himself so that Airplane’s body act as a barrier. It’s still a shitty map, of course, because ancient maps sucked and Proud Immortal Demon Way had not mastered that shit, either. He would’ve made one himself but it’s too much work. “Alright, we’re by the Luo river, not Jing or Yellow. That’s something.”

“I think we would’ve noticed if we had gone that off-course.”

“Shut up,” he huffs, squinting at it. “Either way, we’re not gonna make it to Zhao Hua tonight. We will be lucky if we even make it to an inn. This map doesn’t even show villages! You think there are any around here?”

“If there’s water, there’s people. So if we follow the river downstream-”

“-we can get to a village. Alright.” He rolls up the map, then stuffs it into his sleeve. “Fuck, it’s cold.” Even their rogue cultivator bodies can’t stand this cold, it fucking sucks. 

“I think my dick is gonna fall off,” Airplane agrees, “or like, at least the tip. Bro, my balls shrunk so much I think I grew a pussy. I bet you did too! Huh? You think we gotta share body heat, so our flowers bloom and pollinate with the juices-”

Shen Yuan kicks at his legs. Airplane, the bastard, does a cool flip and lands on his sword in a perfect cultivator move. 

“Ha! Better luck next time-”

A scream rips through the air.

When Shen Yuan looks back, Airplane has fallen to the ground, sinking deep into the snow, only his feet and hands visible. He would laugh, but he can’t. Not when another scream echoes through the quiet winter air. It sounds like it’s tearing at the edges, primal and mindless. It sounds like something- someone- is dying. 

For a moment, he wants to grab Airplane and leave. Go back to whence they came, far away from whoever is making that sound. He almost does, too. 

The next sound is that of a baby crying. 

It’s the coldest winter in a decade, and they are by the Luo river.
