I blame you.

My dad broke my heart way before any boy could. Up until womanhood I never understood that your empty promises are just firewood for me to burn all your lies and “I’m sorry darling next time”.  Thanks to you, every other man gets compared you and Richelieu. Alcohol was always more important, you don’t care for my well-being, you don’t provide, protect or lead instead your greed pushed me to succeed in everything you ever failed. Integrity, loyalty, grace, discipline, love, righteousness, and even though you didn’t bail, doesn’t mean I don’t see you as an absent father. We always fight because my sunlight brightest brighter than your flashlight. You never saw the need to be interested in my life but when I climb up to the top of success you started taking credit as if you had a part in my medal, pathetic. I have to fight my way through everything without your help, with only my mom beside me cheering me on. Stop singing songs of praise when you can only promise delays. I am not fazed by your drunken tears, Dad, I learned over the years that those are just false fears. Trying to make me feel guilty for being everything you’ll never be. Stop making me the enemy when in reality it’s just you wanting to be free of your fatherly duty. I didn’t ask to be born but I have to ask to be looked after? You were supposed to be the person who would see my talents and make sure that every challenge is overcome. You had to fight my first battles yet it was too much of a hassle. It was your job as a father to be my hero, yet you were nothing but a zero, standing back, saying nothing when the kids at school laughed and called me a weirdo. So I just want to say, Thank you, dad, for teaching me that no man could ever be trusted, you are the reason the sidewalk to my heart is frosted, and every man trying to knock on the door slips, and I blame you.

This song is so ironic to me now. It's about someone I had to cut off last year. I wrote it a month and a half before "Tha Agony Of Stagnancy" dropped. Then 2 weeks beforehand, that person reached out to me and apologized. So I let them back in my life... Now earlier this week, I had to cut them off again. But this time, I can't blame them entirely. I mainly blame myself because I knew I shouldn't have let them back in my life. LESSON LEARNED.
