Icewing does not become leader at the end of ASC in my rewrite, but she does become one of Froststar's deputies. Froststar introduces democracy by electing three deputies, and when she dies, the Clan cats will vote on which deputy should become leader next.
Icewing found out her son Beetlewhisker was training in the Dark Forest and started training there to defend and keep an eye on him. She fails at that, however, and he dies. Trauma for Icewing! All of her first litter is dead, but Nightsky and Breezeheart are still alive (also Breezeheart was not exiled)
