Quo: it is called the shadow note (death is way too inappropriate for kids) and instead of Kira light is called "the shadow master". Light himself is a smart highschooler student who hates bullies but can't do anything about it. he banishes a bully who is harassing Misa (a fellow highschooler. She is popular but really nice and light is friends with her and has a lil cute crush on her) and banishes him to the shadow realm.
Misa thanks him for saving her and that is how she is introduced into the story. they are good friends. Light doesn't want to use the book for evil, and he almost regrets getting rid of the bully.
but that is later. For now, light is getting rid of all of them mean people. Soon though after his realization, an aspiring detective everybody calls L (he never introduces himself, everybody just calls him that and nobody asks about his name ever. It's more of a gag here) is out to catch the shadow master. L is always seen with his dad (edit for people who aren’t me or Error I headcanon L’s dad is Watari because why not) and some sort of snack. The L character is supposed to support healthy family relationships.

L enlists the help of Light because he is smart and L likes him. the main plot of the show and it's gag is that L is trying to catch the shadow master who is right there. Light really likes L though and doesn't want him to find out because it might ruin their friendship.

Quo: no he banishes them to the shadow realm when he writes their name down. There is also no demons because those are too scary for 4kids.
Back at home with Light's family, his little sister has a girlfriend (wait what no) has a friend! She is the same age as her and they don't even go to the same school, encouraging people to make more friends outside of their school. She knows her because of dad! The Dad in this 4kids Deathnote is a police officer! in season 2 or 3 we meet his friend Matsuda in a Chrismas special episode. Matsuda wants to gather all of his friends he made throughout his childhood (everybody in the task force, not including L)! They are reappearing characters after that and we get to meet Siyu's friend's dad (Isowa or however it’s spelled) and find out how Siyu knows her.
In season 5 ish during a Chrismas special we meet Mellow and Near. In this anime, though we are deciding to either call them Meheal and Nate, or Near and Far. The first one because unlike in deathnote with fake names having meaning it's just a running gag with L so there is no need for fake names with them. The second one could be a good gag. Everybody calls them the distance twins even though they aren't twins and those aren't their names. I'm thinking we could use both haha.
In that episode, they are visiting L for Christmas (they are lil cute kiddos) and Light is there too. Maybe other people idk. But during all of the happiness, there is a power outage and a ghost haunts them and it's a horror movie. Near and Mellow work together to figure out what to do to get rid of it, which is offering it skittles (it was part of a sponsorship). This is supposed to encourage healthy sibling relationships.
also in the 4kids deathnote there is no orphanage (ever mentioned at least because having them in an orphanage would imply that their parents are gone with isn't kid-friendly) but at the same time no mentions of family for Near and mellow are ever mentioned, making them the only characters to do that (idk what to do with Misa's family, maybe she lives with her cousins to encourage other family relationships). Basically, it's WAK but Quo isnt allowed on an actual episode or near 4kids because furry (even though they dub sonic and pokemon, this is different because i am the only half fox person) and error is invisable (she still has an impact though like in that house episode haha)
im sure though that if i actually wanted her in it the gag with her is that nobody questions why she is a fox person. having her in there would encorage more one parent relationships (we already have that with L) and general happy familyness
