This is a life lesson that moves you to tears.

I am extremely critical of these "one day" or "one week" marginalized identity take-over challenges. They almost sensationalize and appropriate said identity, claiming to have gained some sort of a pseudo lived experience, when the truth is that lived experience does not come from being in a position where you have the privilege to retreat from the margins and to the center - it comes from knowing that you're stuck with this particular identity that you cannot really get away from. That is absolutely key to positionality. This is the same as those hijab wearing, wheel chair using "challenges." Does not make me too happy.

............did I just see the "Mixed Chicks" page on Facebook seriously post a submission from a white girl in which she claims she counts as mixed due to having an Italian mom and a Swedish/Norwegian dad? *yes, I am aware it works differently in Europe, but the girl is definitely American
