Hey fam! I'm doing some preliminary research for a collection of essays on mental health depictions in film & tv with a focus on personality, identity, dissociative, psychotic, and schizophrenia-spectrum disorders.
I know pickings are slim in this regard, especially with good or positive representation, so I'd like to hear from the community all of your personal headcanons for characters who could be affected by any of these disorders Because You Said So.
All genres, ratings, regions, and languages welcome! As long as I can find it somewhere with English subtitles I'm open to anything from anywhere. As an example, here's a few of the characters I've selected to get me started:
Catra - Netflix's She-Ra
Jinx - Arcane: League of Legends
Amanda Young - Saw franchise
Thomas Shelby - Peaky Blinders
Jennifer Check - Jennifer's Body
If you have your own headcanons for these characters or other characters in their stories feel free to drop them too. And if you have any suggestions for characters that are canonically diagnosed with any of the above, I'm also very interested in checking those out whether it's good or bad rep.
Reblogs are appreciated to help this reach as many people as possible!
But if you loved me, why'd you leave me?
Well... get the hell out...
Depersonalization Disorders
Hi everyone, sorry it's been a while since I've made a text post!
I've wanted to write about this subject for some time but I've never really known how to go about it, but I'm going to give it my best shot!
So, to start: What is depersonalization?
Depersonalization is the feeling of being 'detached' from the world around you and your own mind. When you feel depersonalized you feel as if you live your life through a dream or almost a 'haze'.
There are many dissociative disorders, I have suffered with both depersonalization and dissociative amnesia (having gaps in your life which you struggle to remember). I had my first episode of depersonalization when I was just 14 years of age, I was at school in a computer lesson and I felt as if the whole room around me was hazy, like I was dreaming. As I clicked on the computer and typed away it felt like it wasn't me doing it, like I wasn't the one clicking and typing. This may seem very difficult to comprehend if you have never experience it, however, most people will encounter depersonalization during a short period of their life. For some people this is a disorder which lasts longer than a short episode and may need treatment/help to overcome it.
I still tackle these disorders today, sometimes I'll go out shopping and as I walk past multiple faces I feel as though I am a ghost and that people are just looking straight through me.
After facing this for sometimes now, I have started to realise what helps to bring me back to reality so here is my advice!
Talk to people as much as you can during a depersonalized episode - Talking to a friend, loved one or even just strangers in public will help to bring you back to reality and make you realise that you are in control and can feel and communicate.
Listen to or make music - I mention music all the time on this blog because it just helps so much with any situation! Getting lost in music will create feelings and emotions within you, making you feel real again.
Paint, draw, do something creative!
Get a decent amount of sleep - Going to bed early is difficult but sleep deprivation can actually cause depersonalization, so please get some rest!!
Look at the world around you - Check the time/temperature, feel the sun or rain on your skin, do your makeup, mess around with your hair, do anything you can to feel a sense of reality and self.
There is treatment available, get help if you need it - counselling/therapy sessions or medical treatment is available to support you, there is no shame in reaching out.
I hope you're all well guys! If you have any questions or suggestions on a blog post you'd like me to make please hit up my asks!

Decir adiós, a veces, es la mejor opción, aunque duela. Es la manera más eficaz de salvar a alguien.
Reading through things about OSDD-1, trying to figure out if my identity issues are because of it or BPD but the difference between them seems so blurry to me. Like I can logically read about the differences and understand them intellectually but when thinking about my particular issues, they both still kinda fit and so I dunno if it's cause of my BPD or if it's something else like OSDD-1. :/
