don't even go here and i believe conformitygate because of the sheer amount of things pointing in the direction of a false reality. on twitter alone:

1) someone with a film background pointed out the visibility of exit signs in 3 scenes involving pairings specifically, whereas tv production has an entire job that HIDES exit signs during filming - meaning their visibility is purposeful

2) multiple discussions of how season 5 + the ending parallels past dnd campaigns in the show. some may have mentioned how at the end of a campaign where the party lost and mike asked for 20 more minutes to settle the campaign, but something someone else pointed out is

vecna losing a left arm and left eye in a dnd campaign, and then vecna the antagonist losing both in the 'finale'

a campaign where dustin (iirc) rolled an 11 yet lost against vecna in a dnd campaign - and that joyce apparently hit vecna 11 times,,,,, and with every other parallel with past dnd campaigns,,,,, that would indicate they actually lost against vecna

3) some official 'post-finale' promotional videos have potential morse code glitches which people have been translating into 'run', 'they're watching', etc. one of them apparently flat-out says 'vecna never dies' in FRENCH specifically, if there's a reason behind the french i do not know, i haven't kept up with stranger things in the past couple of seasons

4) speaking of 'they're watching', i'm seeing people point out a concerning amount of out-of-place 'eyes' that can be found in said finale

5) multiple things indicating the truman show being an inspiration for season 5 (it being name-dropped on a whiteboard discussing ideas + being the clear design element for a promotial TIME magazine cover featuring st

and a lot of other things that make me pretty sure it's all on purpose. even the cast + production are being fishy about this

we'll see what happens on 7 january though, i suppose. while i'm leaning more towards the reveal of a true finale, i can honestly also see the writers using those hints to either indicate or offer plausible deniability that this wasn't the ending they wanted but there was corporate interference or something, ergo vecna wins via metanarrative forced conformity or something

i love how this theory is so big it even reached outside the fandom and also hello ??? it’s insane to see the evidence gathered together and YOU ARE SO RIGHT !!!

Sadie Sink was in SNL like a day ago and Jimmy Fallon barely asked her about the show and didn’t even mention arguably the BIGGEST stranger thing theory right now… also if you rewatch the interview you see her expression changing momentarily when Jimmy Fallon asked her about a theory (the question ended up being about El being dead or not) and maybe it was a slight slip or is there something the cast actually can’t talk about ?? Maybe I’m imagining things but still…

The only thing that’s giving me doubt is the showrunners themselves… one minute they’re telling us to look into all the details, next minute they’re telling us that it’s “up to interpretation” or “it isn’t significant” which is sooo contradictory but if you look at the episodes… it’s all there. the purposefully left in inconsistencies in the set design (and they HAVE to be purposeful because they have edited out accidental mistakes before), the chimes, the numbers, they’re too big of a coincidence to not be important.

and honestly if it ends up being nothing it’s not embarrassing for us it’s embarrassing for the showrunners because how is your finale that bad that the fandom created a full theory about why it’s bad ??

edit: as for what tone i’m using in this post -> one of abject horror ! i do not want to see this shit get animated ! it is a horrible writing of my favorite characters and it is so annoying that i’m going to fear the impending horrible takes that will be made as more people watch this horseshit ❤️ i hate 100yq so much in both manga and anime, like yeah i should be “happy” that my special interest media is getting “more content” but if your special interest is horses but all you get new content wise is grave depictions of horses that ruin their own reputation then you wouldn’t be happy either 🙃
