Imagine Loki being completely impervious to cold weather and teasing you relentlessly as you suffer through a frigid winter.

I loved you—I love you—neither anger nor pride dictates these lines; but a feeling beyond, deeper, and more unalterable than either. My affections are wounded; it is impossible to heal them:—cease then the vain endeavour, if indeed that way your endeavours tend.
Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley, The Last Man
as though our Roses
There goes a man without a plan
He used to be the oil can
He laughs as loudly as he can
To mask the hollow he calls grand
While tears and sorrow are sown to land
And wheat folds into a hard chaff sand
Or so he’s wished our thoughts to stand
against the nose’s powerful gland
as though our Roses bore no Plan

Sometimes open drains do not discharge to a drainage system. They may be terminated in a landscape area. The photo above shows a footpath spoon drain that drains to a newly created landscaped area.
There is nothing necessarily wrong except that it puddles for a while after it rains. This is the entry to a kids playground and creates a nuisance to the users to the park.
In my experience many parks are developed without necessarily thinking about stormwater drainage. This is unfortunate as i believe drainage is a necessary consideration to landscaped architecture.
It is important to reduce the amount of impervious area that discharges to natural water bodies. It is good that in the above example that stormwater is disconnected from draining into the underground system. But it can be done better so that it does not create a nuisance.
How are we impervious!? I feel very pervious!
