Palpatine: âWhat do you mean âwhy do we need the control chipsâ? The whole point of the control chips was to prevent a clone from killing a Jedi, except when ordered, which theyâd follow of course because of the implication.â
Fives: âUm, yea, okay. So you had me for the most part but you kinda lost me at the end there.â
Palpatine: âLook if a clone trooper was ordered to kill a Jedi, they donât have to follow that order. But the thing is they are going to follow that order, they would never not follow that order because of the implication.â
Fives: âNow you keep using that world, âimplicationâ⊠what does that mean? What implication?â
Palpatine: âThe implication that good soldiers follow order.â
Fives: âBut it sounds like someone could use that to kill all the Jedi?â
Palpatine: âWhat do you mean they could kill all the Jedi? Why would anyone ever be able to use that on the Jedi?
Fives: âWell no itâs just that-â
Palpatine: âWhy would you think I would do that? I feel like youâre not getting this at all!â
Fives: âYeah, no, I guess Iâm not getting this.â
*Both turn to see Anakin Skywalker*
Palpatine: âWell donât look at me like that, youâre not one of the ones who would be killed.â
Fives: âSo they are going to be killed!!!â
