I mean, Klaus was THE villain, and he was an ideal candidate for dark Bonnie. Like everything else the Bennetts seemed to have been involved in some way, and The Michaelsons kind of had first hand experience with witches. If they all had stayed human, than at least half of them of them would have been witches. So there was that connection to not only magic, but witches, and even Bennetts.
As we saw many times, Bonnie may come from a powerful line of witches but no villain seems to want to utilize that power or even prey on the dark feelings Bonnie may keep hidden, b/c she essentially does always get hurt in the end, so it would be ignorant to assume she doesn’t have residual anger, resentment, hate, etc. building up. But even without the dark Bonnie bit, the idea for a villain to use Bonnie long term never seemed to cross the writers mind, it was always the villain threatening Bonnie, she holds out, but eventually folds and then were back to focusing on Elena. There was no grand scheme or long term usage with it. I mean guess Shane counts b/c he was manipulating Bonnie, but he was ultimately being manipulated by Silas, who I guess was manipulating Bonnie all along, but I don’t even count that b/c Silas wasn’t there and Bonnie thought the blame lay soley on Shane until it was too late.
Klaus not using Bonnie was just wasted potential, especially in terms of a dark!Bonnie act.
As for the character of Klaus, I like that he regarded Stefan as a friend and brother. I think him having a soft spot for Stefan didn’t take away from him being a true villain. And then when we delved into the Mikaelson drama, that still didn’t take away from him being a villain even if in basic form Klaus is a villain as a result of daddy issues.
What started to turn me away from Klaus was the continuing family drama, it was like he wasn’t doing what he set out do, but I completely stopped caring for him when Klaroline started, and I saw no need to go back to caring for that character when you had a true villain like Kol around, who if they had developed he could drove dark!Bonnie plot.
So Klonnie is not an anti ship for me, I just don’t ship it anymore, what with the writers massacring Klaus character especially in regards to Klaroline which I spoke about in another ask.
send me a ship and I’ll talk about why I hate it
