Aether: We had no time to say goodbye, so let's not call it that. Dainsleif: The war has already begun. It is just a continuation of past battles. Dainsleif: The gods goad us on with the promise of their seven treasures. Rewards for the worthy. The doorway to divinity. Dainsleif: Yet buried in the depths of this world lies smoldering remains, a warning to those that dare trespass. Dainsleif: "That throne in the sky is not reserved for you." Dainsleif: But mortal arrogation never stops. Dainsleif: None will escape the flames. Dainsleif: See for yourself.

PROLOGUE. Mondstadt «The Outlander Who Caught the Wind» MEA LIBERTAS MEUS CANOR (Latin: MY FREEDOM IS MY SONG)

Dainsleif: The dragon who defended Mondstadt for a millennium finally faces his perturbation. Dainsleif: What does freedom really mean, when demanded of you by a god?

ACT I. Liyue «Farewell, Archaic Lord» RUAT CAELUM FIAT PACTUM (Latin: Let the contract be made, though the heavens fall)

Dainsleif: The God of Contracts, senselessly slaughtered as his people watched on in horror. Dainsleif: In the end, he will sign the contract to end all contracts.

ACT II. Inazuma «Omnipresence Over Mortals» PERPETUA PERENNIS IMPERVIA (Latin: Perpetual, perennial, impervious)

Dainsleif: In the secluded land of the immortal Shogun, the Bakufu rules eternal. Dainsleif: But what do mortals see of the eternity chased after by their god?

ACT III. Sumeru «Truth Amongst the Pages of Purana» SUB FLOREIS LUMEN SAGACITATIS (Latin: Light of wisdom under the flowers)

Dainsleif: The God of Wisdom's enemy is wisdom itself, and the oasis of knowledge is a mirage in the desert of ignorance. Dainsleif: In the city of scholars there is a push for folly, yet the God of Wisdom makes no argument against it.

Dainsleif: The God of Justice lives for the spectacle of the courtroom, seeking to judge all other gods. Dainsleif: But even she knows not to make an enemy of the divine.

Dainsleif: The rules of war are woven in the womb: the victors shall burn bright, while the losers must turn to ash. Dainsleif: When the God of War shares this secret with the Traveler, it is because she has her reasons.

Dainsleif: She is a god with no love left for her people, nor do they have any left for her. Dainsleif: Her followers hope only to be on her side when the day of her rebellion against the divine comes at last.

ACT ???. Khaenriah «The Dream Yet to Be Dreamed»

Dainsleif: In the perpetual meantime of a sheltered eternity, most are content to live, and not to dream. Dainsleif: But in the hidden corners where the gods' gaze does not fall, there are those who dream of dreaming. Dainsleif: Some say a few are chosen and the rest are dregs, but I say we humans have our humanity. Dainsleif: We will defy this world with a power from beyond. Dainsleif: Now, you who has set foot in this world. Dainsleif: Your journey has reached its end, but one final doorway remains. Dainsleif: Step forth, if you have understood the meaning of your journey. Dainsleif: Defeat me, command me to step aside, show me that you are worthier than I to rescue her. Dainsleif: Then, the threads of all fate will be yours to re-weave. Dainsleif: My memory has all but faded completely… but I will always remember how much she too, loved these flowers.

This quest goes all in with the abyss order keeping us distracted while they set up their plan, Direidyth pulling the Traveler into a time loop, the loom of fate twisting the ley lines with Dainsleif's memories and even the Lord of the Night allowing a fragment of Khaenri'ah to overlap with Natlan's Night Kingdom.

While Natlan is distracted with festivals and competitions, the abyss order shows coordinated moves across the region.

The Traveler joins patrols for Natlan's competition and comes across a hidden cave, where a Hilichurl flees as they arrive, leaving behind a shining key. It's the exact same as the one the Traveler already holds, the key to their spaceship's Hibernation Chamber, which can only mean it belongs to their sibling.

Later, when speaking with Mavuika, the Traveler tells her straight out that their sibling is the leader of the Abyss. Mavuika, cautious after hearing this, questions where the Traveler's loyalty really stands… with Natlan or with the Abyss? Once convinced, she sends them to support the Masters of the Night Wind against the invasion.

After fighting alongside Iansan and Citlali, they manage to hold off the abyss order but no real answers come from the battle. So, with nothing solid to work with, the Traveler and Paimon decide to head back to the cave, hoping to find another lead.

Back at the cave, a girl named Direidyth suddenly appears. She warns of monsters that neither the Traveler nor Paimon can see, until the Traveler takes her hand and riftwolves suddenly appear.

Once safe, she explains she's been searching for a prophesied "Savior" meant to prevent a coming disaster. At first, she mistakes the Traveler for this figure, until it becomes clear the prophecy actually points toward the Abyss Sibling.

Later, under the stars, Direidyth wonders aloud if the sky is even real. That single remark makes the Traveler suspect she might know something about Teyvat's false sky.

The Traveler dreams of the Night Kingdom, catching a glimpse of their sibling speaking with the Lord of the Night. Doomsday and the birth of a "Savior" echo in the vision, leaving the Traveler unsettled. When they wake, they realize Direidyth had been holding their hand the whole time.

Natlan's guards confirm something odd. Instead of fighting, the abyss order has been found meditating.

Dainsleif appears and the Traveler joins him to attack abyss order strongholds. There they encounter an Iniquitous Baptist who reveals himself as Haden, Dainsleif's former master, whose real goal was to take Dainsleif's memories to feed the Loom.

(The way Haden said he had no memories left and asked Dainsleif to share some of his, hit hard. Even if it was a trap, I found myself moved by his longing for a lost nation 😢)

(Although now that I think about it... if he really remembered nothing, how did he know Dainsleif used to call him master? I was a bit too naive there 🥲 just like Dain)

The truth about Direidyth comes out. She is from Khaenri'ah 5 centuries ago.

The Abyss Sibling appears and explains what has been driving them all along. The paradox began five centuries ago when Direidyth showed proof that the Traveler was searching. Faced with the choice of staying to fight for Khaenri'ah or going to see their sibling, they chose the latter and that regret has haunted them ever since. For them, reviving Khaenri'ah is both a way to make up for that choice and the only chance to face the Heavenly Principles as an equal.

They also suggest that Istaroth might have made this meeting possible and explain how the loom of fate pulled everything together, with a fragment of Khaenri'ah overlapping Natlan under the Lord of the Night's permission, the abyss order's meditations feeding shared memories and Dainsleif's memories powering the process. Using an Inteyvat as the base, the loom produced the Atlas of the New World, a blueprint for Khaenri'ah reborn.

Direidyth's tragedy comes full circle. After the Cataclysm she was cursed into a Hilichurl, the same one the Traveler first saw asleep in the cave. Before her curse takes hold, Direidyth asks the Traveler for a memento, something she could show the Savior (the Abyss Sibling) if she ever found them. If the Traveler chooses not to give her a memento (the key) to avoid her pain, the Abyss Sibling throws their own spaceship key at her feet. Direidyth keeps it and, once cursed as a Hilichurl, she is the one who eventually leaves that same key in the cave where the Traveler finds it.

Before leaving, the sibling says that the next step will come at the end of the Traveler's journey.
