ninjago is so perfect for a fantasy au because it’s already super fantasy and just the characters would work so well and creatively in a high fantasy au anyway Kai is a blacksmith and his younger sister is claimed as the next servant of the sea goddess and so he goes on a quest to save her.

Zane: … can’t you just say hypothesis like a normal person?

Jay:

Jay: So my science headcanon is-

Jay: it reverses, its in the name, did you hear me?

I feel there is a significant lack of acknowledgment/appreciation of Jay’s skills as an inventor/engineer.

Like, it’s supposedly a major part of his character but the only two good instances of it I can remember are when he rigs the original Densiny’s bounty to fly (not sure if he was just repairing an existing system or built it from scratch. Bonus points if it was from scratch), and the time he rigs up the lightning bike with his dad when going after the time blade.

I want to see more stuff like him tinkering with the teams equipment and electronics when he’s bored, sometimes making it better but sometimes not.

Him coming up with all sorts of useful tools and toys that he can use in conjunction with his lightning powers

For every useful invention he comes up with, there are dozens more that are completely useless or don’t work at all as advertised

More of him helping Nya with repairs and improvements on the Bounty and whatever other vehicles or mechs they’re using.

I’m sure there are other great ways to express it as well. I want to see it included as an everyday part of his character and I really don’t feel it has been.

Nya: Hang on, I think I have the tools to fix it.

Nya, on the computer: Okay, the tool I was thinking of isn’t actually the best one for the job. But there’s a company on the other side of Ninjago that specifies in that specific issue. My order should be here in a month.

Jay: Cool! I fixed it forty-five minutes ago by beating it with a wrench.

Zane: … what did you do to your go cart?

Cole: Um, I’ll let my mechanic answer that. Jay?

Jay: I reboarded the cylinder head, modified the intake valves on the injection system, added a blower and installed a 5 pound nitrous tank.

Kai: And I put those stickers on! [points at stickers on the cart’s sides]
