How can these people be so stupid? How could anyone just witness all of this danger and just look the other way, just go on with their days like nothing happened?
Maritza questioned that every day. Every day since she and her friends saved Nicky from the basement.
Speaking of Nicky, where is he anyway?
Finch tapped on Maritza's shoulder and pointed to a line to ride a rollercoaster.
"Just in case you were wondering.", she said.
Maritza nodded, then she sighed. "We're not here to play games, we're here to find Peterson and put him back in the slammer."
"I know, but can we please just give Nicky a break? I bet this is the most fun he's had in ages."
Before Mari could say anything, her phone rang. She answered it.
"Hello?"
"Maritza, listen to me! I need you to round up all of the people in the park and get them out of here! Now!", said Trinity. "We found Peterson, and he's angrier than ever. Just look at the sky."
Maritza was confused. What does the sky have to do with this?
But either way, Maritza looked up at the sky, and she saw clouds beginning to cover the perfect blue sky and yellow sun.
"Trin, what's going on?", she asked.
"I've got bad news and worse news.", said Trinity. "We found Peterson and Crowface, so they're both after us now. And Peterson must've touched a freaking golden stone, because he can control the weather now!"
Maritza almost dropped her phone.
She turned around to look at Finch, who was also starting to get worried at the sight of the thunderstorm rolling in.
"We have to get everyone out of here now.", she said.
Immediately, Maritza grabbed Finch's hand and they sprang into action. She grabbed a megaphone from a "Dunk the Guy" stand and ran to the top of a concession stand.
"EVERYONE LISTEN THE FUCK UP!", she yelled into the megaphone. "THIS BITCH IS ABOUT TO GET BAD, EVERYONE GO HOME!"
No one did or said anything, they all just looked at her.
Finch rolled her eyes. "Look at the sky, people!", she yelled at everyone.
When the people in the park looked up at the sky, they all started to run to the gates of the park. Parents picked up their children and ran, and the ride operators disappointedly told everyone to get off the rollercoasters.
But before anyone could even set foot out of the gate, the gate slammed shut.
"No one leaves."
Maritza was sure that she wasn't the only one who heard that, just turning her head to look at Finch for a complete answer didn't feel like enough. Even though she heard the voice too.
"The fun has just begun."
Crowface.
Thunder rumbled from the sky.
Maritza once again grabbed Finch by the hand and ran away from the lightning that threatened to strike them if they weren't careful.
They jumped behind one of the prize stands next to a hammer game.
"What the hell is going on with the weather?", Finch asked. "And why did Trinity -"
"Peterson has weather powers now! We're all fucked!", said Maritza. "We have to find the others before -"
But then Maritza realized something.
"Nicky..."
"Nicky?", it took a moment for Finch to realize. When she did, she also panicked. "We left Nicky back at the rollercoaster!"
"I'll go get him, and you stay here! No matter what happens, do not leave this spot!", said Maritza.
Finch nodded, and Maritza ran to go get her friend.
...But her speed was somehow no match for the fast bolt of lightning that struck her right in the neck, making her scream and choke.
When Finch saw her after ducking for cover, she immediately ran to go check on her, despite being told not to leave the spot.
"Maritza!"
But before she could even lay a hand on her unconscious body, she was grabbed by her pigtails, thrown to the ground, punched in the face...
And struck by lightning before she even got a chance to open her eyes.
