"I need you to pretend to be my girlfriend because my asshole ex-boyfriend is right over there and he keeps bugging me, wanting to get back together." Laurel + whatever lady you're feeling (I imagine you know which guy I'm imagining as the ex)

okay so I went way overboard but ummmmmm yeah?? I’m really proud of this and also working on chapter 2 at the moment so….

Laurel’s eyes surveyed the room, trying to find an easy place to hide. She located that the restrooms were in the left hallway, but to get there she would have to cross the path of the very person she was trying to avoid.

‘How did I get myself into this one?’ Laurel thought to herself, remembering the events of earlier that day.

Laurel was sitting at her favorite coffee shop, staring expectantly at her best friend. “What’s this about?”

“I need you to go in my place for this gala tonight.” Felicty said, pulling out a invite from her purse. “It would be extremely rude if I ignored their invite, political crap and that, but something came up that I have to attend to. But if I sent my lovely best friend in my place, they might not be as pissed.”

Laurel glanced at the invitation before narrowing her eyes at her sister. “You want me to go to your company’s gala… in your place?”

Felicity waved her hand nonchalantly. “It’s not my gala, it’s just a gala that I’ve donated a lot of money into. But I have a unexpected business meeting in Beijing that I cannot miss.” Felicity gave Laurel her best puppy dog face. “Pretty please? I would owe you big time- and any expenses I will cover.”

Laurel sighed, if there’s one thing she couldn’t do, it was say ‘no’ to Felicity’s puppy face. “Fine. But you owe me big time. I’ll have you know that I’ll be missing out on Grey’s Anatomy for this.”

Laurel ran a hand through her hair, thankful that she decided to leave it down instead of let Felicity pay for her to get a hairstylist that would have made it look like she was a model or something of that sort.

“Felicity owes me big time.” Laurel muttered to herself, eyeing her ex who was getting increasingly closer to her. “If I don’t murder her first.”

Laurel glanced over at the food bar, hoping to stuff as much gourmet cheese into her mouth before she would undoubtedly be noticed by her ex and dragged into an excruciatingly annoying conversation.

She mentally noted at least seven different types of cheeses before she saw her saving grace - someone she actual knew.

“Iris?” Laurel said, approaching the woman. “Iris West?”

Iris turned around, staring at Laurel for a second before a grin broke out on her face. “Well, damn, if it isn’t Dinah Laurel Lance.” She held her arms out for a hug that Laurel gratefully accepted.

“I gotta say, I’m a little shocked to see you here.” Laurel said after they parted from their hug. “Are you here with one of the companies?”

“Oh god no,” Iris laughed, shaking her head. “I’m a reporter with the Central City Picture News, they wanted someone to come get the scoop on this gala and I got the short straw. What about you? I thought you wanted to be a lawyer?”

Laurel found herself blushing because Iris West remembered that she wanted to be a lawyer - which was a ridiculous thing to blush over because of course she remembered, they were roommates and good friends in collage.

“I’m actually an ADA. I’m here in place of my friend who couldn’t make it, she, uh, put a lot of money into this gala but then had a last minute meeting in Beijing that she couldn’t miss and I have yet to meet someone who can say ‘no’ to Felicity’s puppy dog eyes.” Laurel said, chuckling softly.

Iris raised an eyebrow. “Felicity? As in Felicity Smoak of Smoak Enterprises?”

“That would be her.” Laurel confirmed.

“Do you think she might be willing to do an interview with me?”

Laurel laughed. “She does owe me a rather large favor. I’m sure we could arrange something.”

Iris grinned. “Well it would seem that I too owe you now too.”

“What? No, of course not, this is just helping an old friend out.” Laurel said. “You don’t owe me anything for this.”

“Dinah Laurel Lance, you are too good for your own good.” Iris crossed her arms. “Surely there must be something I can do - and really, I do insist.”

Laurel bit her lip. “Well… I mean there’s one thing - but I really couldn’t ask it of you-”

Iris cut her off with a look. “Lance, I really insist that you do.”

Laurel took a breath. “I need you to pretend to be my girlfriend because my asshole ex-boyfriend is right over there and he keeps bugging me, wanting to get back together.”

“Say no more,” Iris said, holding out her arm for Laurel to hook her own with. “Which rich straight white douchebag is he?”

Laurel laughed, though it was mostly out of relief but god had she missed Iris.

Flarrowverse Crossovers and the Leading Ladies that Suffer.

Let me start off by saying I enjoy the crossovers of these shows. However I don't like the fact the show runners don't include Iris or Laurel. Well barely. First off Iris is a reporter and should have some agency. Write about the heros doing good and saving the world. Yet the writers fail to utilize this. I mean we know Iris has a job but let's see what's it is like and see her writing these stories. Laurel should have been more involved with the crossovers. If the writers had written her respectfully and correctly she would have been a way better fighter than what was shown in the show. Her Canary could have been real. However one can only write these things in fanfiction. Also the Lance sisters and Iris becoming friends hell yeah!

Iris West Week Day Three

Iris + The Rest - AU Iris West x Laurel Lance/Black Canary

I know that there are many amazing relationships that Iris has had with characters other than her family and her love interests that could be talked about during this section of IrisWestWeek but I decided to go with an AU version with Iris and Laurel because I am disappointed that we didn’t get a scene where Iris and Laurel meet and I am also super bitter that now we’ll never see a scene like this so I am righting this terrible wrong with my AU. I kept my AU story under a Read More so I don’t flood everyone’s dashboards with it in case they don’t want to read it but if you would like to read it, just click to read!

Anyways, while Laurel was in law school, I’d like to think she made regular trips to Central City to see her mother, who, according to Arrow, teaches at Central City University, and after such a long train ride/car ride, Laurel is going to need some caffeine. She always goes to CC Jitters and always gets the same barista, Iris West. She and Iris bond over the fact that they both have overprotective fathers who are cops and that they both did criminology as their undergraduate majors and soon Iris has Laurel’s drink order memorized and Laurel always slips an extra $20 into the tip jar for Iris.

One day, when Laurel comes in for her java fix, she sees Iris, behind the counter, trying to surreptitiously wipe her eyes with her CC Jitters barista apron and immediately asks her what’s wrong. Iris explains that her father found her application to the CCPD, stopped talking to her and all but told her that if she joined the CCPD, she would have to move out of the house. She breaks down in tears because for so long, she has wanted to be a cop like her grandfather and like her father and Laurel explains that the same thing happened to her with her father when she tried to join the SCPD. Laurel told her that at first it was hard to give up her dream but she was able to a different way to help people, by going to law school and being a lawyer. During Iris’s break, she and Laurel sit in the staff room of CC Jitters and plan out what Iris wants to do now that being a cop is not an option anymore. They finally settle on journalism because if Iris can’t be on the front line as a cop, she wants to do the next best thing and be able to report from behind the front line. After her shift, when Laurel goes to Central City University to see her mother, Iris tags along with her and puts in her application for the MA in Journalism program offered by Central City University (yes I know in the show the journalism course is just for a sociology credit but I changed it in my AU) and the rest is history.

Laurel and Iris are there to help each other with everything, be it ADA/lawyer stuff for Laurel, journalism/reporter stuff for Iris or vigilante/superhero stuff for both of them and are there for each other in the good times (when Iris gets her first byline, when Laurel’s family is finally whole again, when Laurel gets her first win as ADA, when Laurel takes down her first criminal as Black Canary etc.) and in the bad times (when Iris finds out Joe, Barry and Eddie have all been lying to her, when Eddie dies, when Sara dies, when Iris learns her mother is still alive, etc.)

In my AU, it’s also Iris who is the one to send the video of Laurel punching the federal marshall to Felicity because she’s so proud and knows that Laurel’s training is paying off.

When Iris publishes her blog about the streak, Laurel always takes time out of her busy schedule to read and comment on every single post. Every time Laurel has a new case, Iris keeps as up to date as possible and calls to congratulate her when she wins and calls to console her when she loses. When Iris gets her job at Central City Picture News, Laurel takes out a subscription and cuts all of Iris’s articles out and puts them into a little scrapbook because she’s just so dang proud. And you can bet that Iris has that first exclusive interview with the newest vigilante in Starling City, the Black Canary.

After the particle accelerator exploded, Iris’ best friend (and sort of more than friends) Barry Allen became the fastest man alive- And it was up to Iris, Caitlin, and Cisco to help Barry save the day as Team Flash. But two months into The Flash’s tenure, a new metahuman hero starts busting bad guys in Central City. Dubbed The Black Canary by the team, Iris takes it upon herself to find out everything she can about the mystery woman- And finds that she’s falling for Black Canary. Hard. It certainly doesn’t help that the more she chases, the more Black Canary seems to return her affections- And late nights start to end with a kiss from the canary- and then much, much more. Now if only Iris could just figure out who Black Canary is under that mask...

Laurel & Iris

These characters so beautiful so a like. They would be great friends yet how these little lovely ladies never had scenes to together? Here are a list of things they would talk about. Their cop dads, their struggles with having one addict for a parent, the struggles of being an older sibling, daughter, and girlfriend. Their careers even though they are different but think about it, Iris is a reporter Laurel is lawyer, Barry is a forensics scientist and Quinton and Joe are both cops, now that would make for a great team up. Laurel would have Iris be a part of Birds of Prey. Iris would be doing investigative reporting and publishing stories on bad guys saving many people’s lives. The team would have Laurel as a meta human, and still being a lawyer by day, it would have Barbara Gordon and Huntress and Sara if she were willing to help. WestAllen and Lauriver and would go on double dates. Then they would all have alerts and those three would save the world. Iris would be okay she has been training in self defense classes, and Laurel suggest she train along side with Ted, Nyssa and Oliver because as investigative reporter she puts herself in danger a lot and being the daughter of a cop having a few extra self defense classes are okay. She and Laurel also know how to shoot guns if they have to and Iris also carries a taser with her just in case. Her fighting skills are fairly decent.

37. “…then I picked up your coffee by mistake.” - “All I want is an apology.”

Iris' attention had been on her phone, her coffee almostforgotten in her hand as she typed away with her thumb. She was practiced atthis, eyebrows furrowed as she deleted the word she had used to replace withone giving the sentence more emphasis. Absently, she took a sip of her coffeeand stepped towards the door, tapping out the beginnings of the next sentence.She missed the swing of the door and the womanwho stepped through.

She did not miss walking straight into the otherwoman, her coffee spilling down her front and onto the floor.Wide-eyed, she finally looked up from her phoneto gape at the woman she had collided with. Thankfully, the other was not coveredin coffee. No, that was just Iris, and she found herself tongue-tied, flushingdark in embarrassment. It did not help that the woman in front of her wasstunning. They were about the same height, Iris thought, maybe the other was abit taller, and with those heels, that turned into another couple of inches.She was leggy, and elegantly dressed, her dark blonde hair in simple waves downher back."Oh god," she whispered, closing hereyes briefly, and then trying for a smile when she opened them. "I'm so sorry."The other woman smiled and raised her hands, asif to show there was no harm done. "It's fine.""No, it's not, I could have gotten this allon you." She gestured vaguely with her cup, what was left of the coffeesloshing inside. "I mean, it's not even my usual drink, but I was a littleout of it when I ordered." And this time, she gestured sheepishly with herphone.The blonde seemed to be fighting back a laugh.She shook her head, smiling at Iris in a way that made the reporter blush for acompletely different reason. "Really, it's fine. I'm just here to pick upmy coffee and leave, but how about I buy you a new one?"Iris tilted her head and furrowed her eyebrowsin confusion. "I bumped into you, and you're going to buy me coffee?"The smile turned into a little smirk, and theblonde shrugged in what Iris hoped was a coy manner. "I'm taking advantageof the situation."It startled a laugh out of Iris, and yeah, shewas definitely blushing, but she could not help it. "Alright."They made their way to the counter, Irisfrowning when she saw a drink already on it with her name on the side."Wait," she murmured, looking down at the cup in her hands. "Ohno.""Is everything okay?" The other womanlooked concerned, reaching out to place one hand on Iris' arm.Iris pressed her lips together in a tight,mortified smile. "You wouldn't happen to be Laurel, would you?" Sheturned the cup she was holding to show the name on the side to the woman."You stole my drink." It was saidflatly, but Iris was pretty sure she could see a hint of amusement mixed withthe resignation."It was a complete accident, I swear!"Iris finally, finally stuffed her phone into the pocket of her jeans and usedher now free hand to rub wearily at her face. "I have this huge deadlinetonight, and this article is just not coming out right, but I thought I finallyhad a break today, and I've been working on it since morning, so I didn'trealise that this was not my usual drink at first, or that it was ready toofast, and I probably should have realised that part since I used to work here?But I didn't, and I didn't even hear any names, and I picked up your coffee bymistake."There was a beat of silence as the other simplystared at Iris, and flustered, Iris continued, "I will buy you a new one.And tomorrow as well. I don't - I'm not usually this much of a mess, Iswear."This got her a chuckle. When the blonde -Laurel, Iris reminded herself - tilted her head to survey Iris, her hair drapedover her shoulder, and internally, Iris swooned. "All I wanted was anapology," the other teased. "But if you're offering to take me forcoffee again tomorrow, I would be a fool to say no." She leaned forward,and Iris got a whiff of a subtle floral scent that was her new favourite."And Laurel Lance is no fool to say no to a pretty girl."This time, when Iris blushed, it was with apleased smile playing on her lips. "I'm Iris, by the way. Iris West."She held out a hand for the other woman to shake.She swore there were literal sparks when theirpalms touched. Accidentally stealing Laurel's drink might have just been thebest thing she had done today.
