i like the concept of iruka being unlikeable to most chuunins and jounins. the concept of him being the kid who got his entire class in trouble trying and failing to be funny, who later became the pencil pusher chuunin who gets everyone in trouble for not turning in their reports on time or for not doing them correctly.
like. he's a regular chuunin and yet, somehow, he's the hokage's favorite. he got to choose to teach in the academy and was fast tracked and basically given a position there by simply asking. he fucked up an entire mission with the copy-nin and now the copy-nin looks after him. he's rigid and not parituclarly strong and annoying and he's boring and he sits in the village twiddling his thumbs and teaching kids how to do whatever the hell he teaches them and he babies the kyuubi vessel and yet. parents love him. kids look up to him. old ladies give him fruit by the armful.
like. i don't think mizuki was an outlier in hating iruka for getting the attention and praise he got. most likely he was representative of a larger problem (ie, a lack of understanding of iruka's strengths). especially since iruka isn't shown to have close friends in the way that others do.
i think that, since the naruto and iruka parallel exists, and the village hated naruto for being the vessel of the kyuubi/not being normal/like them, then maybe other people/shinobi hated iruka for the same reason.
Headcanoning Iruka letting his hair down in front of someone being on the same level of vulnerability and closeness as Kakashi letting someone see him maskless it's very important to me..

𓆃 A great friend to have made early on. No matter if you were both left orphaned after the attack on the Nine-Tailed Fox or if your family took him in like a son, Iruka is sure to be a life-long friend.

Due to his perceptive nature he recognizes when you’re trying to flirt with him, hence he decided to play with you a little and actually pretends that he didn’t notice your intentions only to surprise you with his comeback.

I headcanon him as a hopeless romantic who surprisingly has common sense; and due to him being a shinobi, he must be perceptive as well.
He’s not as smooth as Genma when you try to flirt with him and would probably not do the same unless he’s extremely confident that he’s doing it right.
He might say some things that can interpreted as flirty but these things are so invisible, you can only guess what he meant.
When you flirt with him, outside he might seem nonchalant but oooh inside he’s screaming, jumping, throwing up with nosebleeds.
He’s not into suggestive themes, he really prefers romantic gestures, but won’t decline an offer, he’s a gentleman after all!

Characters: Yamato/Tenzo, Iruka, and Orochimaru
Yamato/Tenzo
He is in pure shock at the anger in your eyes; he gets chills just looking at you. How can something so pretty look so evil?
Oh… He thinks as he looks at where you are staring - Your son… Makes sense.
He’s quick to grab you, though, knowing that you would wage war against anyone who hurt your kid if allowed. He would, too, don't get him wrong, but kids were kids. They were mean!!
You didn't care. All you saw was red. “Hey, we can't go hurting kids now, can we? What message would that send to our child?”
His words would have been calming at another time, but all they did was fire you up more. “That no one is allowed to mess with him!!!”
He has to pull you away and profusely apologize to the mother who is now pulling her kid away from you.
“You should keep her on a leash if she’s going to be so rabid-”
Tenzo’s jaw dropped at that statement, and he cringed at the shocked gasp that came from you. He told you you couldn't pick a fight with a kid, but their parent?
The adults were different. You could beat them up as much as you wanted. Tenzo let you go, hands shooting up as he watched you storm towards the mom in pure rage.
Sure, you could beat up the parents, and he would cheer you on as you did.
Iruka
Not happy at all.
This ball of sunshine would be QUICK to scold you, warning you that teaching your little girl that "violence was the answer" was not a good idea…
Even though she's literally in a school to become a ninja? Violence isn't good?? Ya. Okay, whatever you say, Ruka.
He would take a more sensible route with it and would be able to calm you down with logical thinking - Violence is a nono but detention? Detention he can do.
Iruka being the school's headmaster is a perk, and part of him is thankful for being in charge. Otherwise, he wasn't sure how many kids would end up missing.
He would also scold you if you looked at the other child wrong; he will have none of that happening in his school.
But don't worry; he will make sure the kid doesn't mess with your kid again.
She's his kid, too, you know! And no one fucks with his daughter.
Orochimaru
Mitsuki looked different than everyone else; that was painfully obvious.
He was aware of this and never took offense to jabs and laughs, but you?
Lord, help everyone around you.
Orochimaru would snicker at your anger, finding it adorable as you threatened child after child for making fun of your baby.
He would stop you if you moved towards the children though. While the old him would have allowed the violence to happen, the new him wanted peace. And you fighting a kid would not fare well for the three of you.
Still, he’d let you rant and rave about how cruel the kids are in Konoha. The thing is, though, Mitsuki is just like him in that sense. Orochimaru, too, experienced the same level of bullying, so he understood firsthand how cruel kids could be, but he always ignored them.
It doesn't matter. Their words don't matter.
And while you know that the words don't hurt your baby, you still can't help but feel overprotective every time you catch wind of a jab being thrown his way.
So while Orochimaru isn't worried about Mitsuki’s well-being and knows you won't seriously harm a child, he still makes sure that you know violence is not the answer here.
His new mindset was seriously frustrating, and you couldn't help but agree with him.
But if they called Mistuki a white-haired freak one more time….

Okay one word I'd like to describe this relationship is as.. wholesome. You guys would be the cute couple in the room and the not the cringe type but the kind that could restore one's believe in relationships again.
He is all about making you comfortable and making sure that you are having a good time whenever you both are out somewhere or with him in general.
When it comes to taking care of you he'll make it his priority and lets just say you skipped meal his "sensei" self will come out and he might even scold you. Not in an aggressive way of course but more of a gentle lovely one.
When it comes to being jealous, does feel self conscious at times considering that you're a very well established Shinobi yourself and you hang out with people like Kakashi and Gai. Which can get to him at times but just a tiny bit of re-assurance and he understands it.
Mornings with this guy are peaceful. If he wakes up earlier than you then he'll get everything done before waking you up, which he learned from you, by the way. He picks on things like that.
Since, just like Naruto he lived alone too, he still is learning how to live with a partner and the fact that he knows that you understand his situation puts him at a lot of peace.
Sometimes he wonders if it was better to be living alone like before but when he comes home to your smiling face he just can't help but melt too and all his confusions go away.

☸ He is infatuated with you, and he neglects his own responsibilities just to be by your side
☸ Gaara becomes more protective, as if he is about to lose his lover, and he would even contact a medic from the hidden leaf village to double check and make sure you are okay
"Gaara, it's only a little cold. I swear I'll be fine." With a smile, you reassure him.
He exits the room after checking your vitals. "Send a message to the leaf village; I need a healer." He addressed the nearest guard on duty.
☸ Even if your heart rate changes slightly, he will notice it and become irritated with himself for not detecting it sooner
"What if something happens to you? I can't take that chance, y/n, and I wish you could see where I'm coming from."
☸ And even after you've recovered, he'll continue to discreetly monitor you, even your movements, because he wants to make sure his beautiful husband/wife is doing well
☸ She despises the fact that she doesn't see you as often when she's out and about; if she has a chance, you're her top priority!
“You shouldn’t worry so much about me, your mission is important and you need a clear mind for it.”
“I know, but you barley get sick, it could be serious.” Her eyebrows frown at the thought of it being something serious.”
You reach out for her hands, rubbing back and forth on the palm of her hand.

"Look what happened the last time I left your side," she says. She was offended that you wouldn't be honest with her, but you knew it would hurt her.
☸ Hinata uses her own family remedy, aiding you in eating your soup and making sure you're comfortable; occasionally, you'll wake up to find her passed out on the side of your bed, having stayed up all night watching over you
You know you shouldn't be out of bed, but she was so cute when she slept that you grabbed another blanket and draped it over her before returning to your bed.
☸ She'll be the first person to show up once you've fully recovered. Glad you're no longer in the hospital.
"Please don't argue with me about taking a little extra time off; I just want to spend the rest of the day with you." You could not be happier. Hinata stayed by your side, occasionally preventing you from lifting heavy objects.
☸ He tries to stay strong for you, but his facial expressions reveal that a part of him has died

“You can eat as much as you want! Don’t worry about paying, it’s all on me.” He smiles as you dig into your third bowl of ramen. Hungry for the sweet taste of it.
☸ Once you have completely recover he takes you out to eat ramen, fitting the bill

☸ Sasori isn't easily agitated, so the fact that you're sick pushes him over the edge. He won't let anyone see you, and he'll be arguing with the nurse because he believes she isn't providing you with the best care possible.
"You can't go around causing a ruckus; I understand it's difficult for you, but it's even more difficult for me; I'm trapped inside and don't know how long I'll be here."
Your words pierced his heart, and you sulk in bed. It may have appeared that he was overprotective, but he was only trying to avoid losing you; the thought of being alone again terrifies him.
To clear his mind, he walked out of the room and stood next to the door. He won't abandon you, even if it appears difficult, because he doesn't want you to experience what he went through as a child.
☸ He would bring his puppets and put on a puppet show for you on days when you are bored; he normally wouldn't do it, but he noticed how your mood has been changing and wants to lighten it up
"Oh my god, Sasori...you're going to make me pee my pants!" You laugh as you fall back into bed, holding your stomach.
Sasori observed you, trying to figure out what was so amusing. When you realize he's not laughing, you nervously rub the back of your head.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" I swear I won't do it again... "Could you please continue?"
He gets rid of the puppets. He walked out of the room once more, but returned seconds later, unfazed. He'll still look after you, but he'll do so in silence.
☸ Your heart rate became out of control during the night, and you became unstable, requiring surgery. As they wheeled you away, Sasori froze in place, terrified of being alone again.
He stood by the door for hours, waiting for your surgery to be completed; once you were clear, you were wheeled back into your room, knocked out by the medicine.
"You gave me a scare; I thought you were getting better the whole time, and all I did was joke around."
He stood over your bed, tears streaming down his cheek and onto your hand, his head tilted.
"I can't bear the thought of turning you into a puppet, so please y/n recover for my sake..."
“I'm never going to be alone again...I'm not going to be." Sasori keeps a close eye on everything you do after you've fully recovered in order to prevent it from happening again. Aw, you want to go train? Sad to say, you must return home and rest before Sasori discovers and becomes upset.
☸ When you get sick, he doesn't show it; instead, he works behind the scenes to figure out a way to help you get over your cold
"I'll see you later tonight, sleep and don't stay up late," he says. Your body is in desperate need of rest." As he walks out of the room, he doesn't allow you to speak.
☸ He'll leave a sticky note on top of a soup container he brought in if he isn't there when you're awake. He only wants you to eat his food, not the hospital's
"I'm sorry I couldn't be there when you woke up; make sure you drink everything. I'd like it to be completely empty."
You sulk over his sticky note remark. "Who died and put him in charge.”
You only drink half of the soup to spite him, and when he comes back later that night and sees you awake, he notices.
"If you don't finish your food, I'm not coming back until they let you out."
"It doesn't matter because I don't see you anyway."
"What's the matter?"
"When I got sick, you became so distant from me that I don't feel important to you." It isn't contagious in any way. I just have the feeling that I'm dealing with this on my own."
You fight back the tears that have been bottled up inside of you. "I've been acting this way just to get your attention."
He hovered over you, wrapping his arms around you, as you look down at your hands.
Itachi was holding back tears as well; seeing you in this position stressed him out, and he needed a clear mind, so he did his best to make it appear as if everything was fine, even though he was hurting as well.
"I only wanted to protect you, and I apologize for being so blind to your needs."
You spent so much time crying that you fell asleep in his arms. Itachi was passed out on the side of the bed when you awoke; keeping a grip on your hand while he slept.
