Art drawn: none
Words written: 653 (and counting)
Chapter 1 dream sequence: finished
I may not have any art to feed you but I'm officially out of my writing slump!!
Having to restart The Moth Crown just took an axe to my motivation because every time I opened the document I thought about how much further I was in the original draft (I was on chapter four; now i'm not even done with chapter one) but what's important is that I'm happy with what I've done, and I think I'm much happier with the rewrite, even if I've got a long way to go :)
Therapy In Practice
-
I'd never see Italy in person,
I'd miss the way a pen moves across paper.
I'd never learn how to sign the words
"You are my star, my savior."
I'd never feel a night breeze
After a night spent laughing
With people who will forget me,
I'd never finish learning to play the ukulele,
And I'd never play terribly for the birds and myself
On a Sunday afternoon.
I'd never dance with you in a kitchen
Only lit by the setting sun.
I'd never smell champagne toast or cigarettes,
While struggling to stay awake.
I'd never read another piece
Written by somebody whose hand I'll never hold;
I'll never see a glimpse into that gentleness ever again.
I'd never smell a new book and crack the spine,
I'd never be able to call you mine.

Don't you dare ever say it's too hard. Too difficult to make the call. Too much work to find a therapist. Too much effort to get help. It's no one else's fault when you choose to be comfortable with where you are at.
If you have the insurance or means, it's your responsibility. If you don't, then there are online resources. Free youtube videos abound to help you learn and understand coping skills, resilience, self awareness. You don't need a therapist. If you can get one, do it. You have no excuse. If you can't, it's no excuse not to work on yourself.
I’m doing something wrong clearly. I’m trying these magi eye puzzles and a piece of the art just vegans pulsing like a heartbeat. Tf am I doing?
Honestly it… kind of sounds like you’re on the right path?? They get a 3D look and if you’re still trying to get the right amount of eye blur then those layers can pop in and out thus make it look like it’s a “heart beat”.
What I’d suggest if you want to go further is look up beginner images with an answer key. When I was learning, knowing WHAT I was looking for helped me focus on trying to find it specifically and get my eyes the right amount of unfocused instead of just constantly fiddling with it. This ones a little low quality, which can make it harder to see than if the image is HD, but it’s a good idea of what a magic eye and its answer would look like. The white parts are the ones that will “pop out” to you, while the rest become the background
Hi i'm a baby DM, though i've been handling a few other groups of 4-6 in different other adventures, i'm now DM-ing a group of 9 maybe going 10 players who also adopted a level 8 knowledge cleric (they're level 4) with a nat 20 and convincing word play. I sorta weaved a pretty nice story with all of them having a role/part, How do you handle such big groups? What could you recommend for note taking? Help! it's fun and fulfilling but pretty tiring with tying up all their backstory and stuff
I out source note-taking to my players and try to scribble notes as we go. As for big groups? A lot of communication, a lot of patience and not so much combat.
Maybe try a joint google doc for notes and a timeline for character backgrounds? It might help you all to be on the same page.
You can practice being less afraid
Here’s to being a little less afraid than you were yesterday.
Here’s to coming forth into the sunlight, one breath at a time.
Learning to try new things without knowing what the outcome will be.
Here’s to reminding ourselves it’s all a practice.
We can practice courage.
We can practice being a little less afraid.
In this life, we will take big leaps but there will also be ordinary days where what matters was that we just took the time to breathe. We took time to create something without worrying what the outcome will be.
I hope today is one of those days we can all practice being a little less afraid. I hope we can remember that we do not have to be completely fearless before we do something courageous. Even if it’s small. Even if no one else notices it. It matters. Whether or not we are taking a big leap, may we breathe deep and remember: courage as a practice matters.
Remember this when you’re wondering if you’ve done enough. Remember this when you think about the mountains ahead of you that seem impossible to climb. You might not reach those heights in a day, but you will get there in time. Courage is a practice you will only grow with every age and stage of life.
Before you reach the height of the mountain, you will gather wisdom along the way. You will gather what you need for the climb. Trust that just because you don’t know how you will grow in courage doesn’t mean that you never will. Trust that even when you feel afraid, you will look back and see that all by grace, you managed to keep going. You managed to keep pacing yourself in the direction of the mountains you were meant to climb.
Sometimes “courage” looks like taking big leaps but most of the time, it will look like a practice. A practice you grow in day by day, season by season. Trust the process. Let courage have the time it needs to grow.
Word of the day: Courage (v) “carry out or perform (a particular activity, method, or custom) habitually or regularly.” (Oxford Languages)
Affirmation: “I am accepting that courage is a practice.”
Journal: How are you practicing courage right now?
