Question, has anyone tried roasting something over Madara when he decides to light himself on fire? If I remember correctly he can't be on fire for very long because it takes up so much chakra but there are people who genuinelu believe the "cookies at 350 F take 15 minutes to bake, so cookies at 1,000 degrees should take 5 minutes to bake" meme is real advice. In other words I can see Hashirama trying to roast a marshmellow with Izuna snickering the background ignoring the fact he also tried doing it when he was younger. Tobirama is either not there or waving a thermometer at Madara to measure how hot he gets. Mito's there with her chakra chains ready to pull Hashirama away when he inevitably gets burned again.

Of course, Madara is the first person to do so actually (well, when his self combustion is not because of emotions, of course) but it’s more of a grill/heater situation. He can raise his body temperature very high, the fact that fire forms is when his chakra leaks out (be it intentionally or because of a lack of control) so keeping the flames on him is like burning away chakra. It’s not something he’d do very often or for very long because it puts stress on his body and pushes it to try to generate more chakra, but outside of that, he actually has enough chakra to remain on fire for a decent amount of time. But he’s not a great oven, his heat isn’t turning (so it would be more like putting your cookie batter in fire) but for marshmallows, or, perhaps more fitting for their time period, skewed meat or mushrooms, it’s perfect.

At least, as long as it’s not too hot. Madara’s chakra temperature can raise very, and I mean very high (the higher the temperature, the more chakra consuming it is), so trying that when he is mad isn’t a great idea. Madara is one of the few cases of fire nature on which Suiton can be almost useless, since he can have a temperature high enough to just have water evaporate. Hashirama’s Mokuton is a perfect counter because it absorbs chakra and can remain longer than the hotter bursts of flames.

To go back to Madara grill, even just raising his body temperature eats up chakra, but in a more organic way. This would allow him to burn chakra more healthily, especially during the yearly winter truce, and acts as a general heater. It heats up the home, he can cook on bare skin without wasting precious resources, he can heat up water for tea, and it’s all very natural. Of course, Izuna probably tried to toast something during one of Madara's outburst, but probably ended up burning himself, and it would have calmed down Madara immediately.

If Hashirama tries the same however… he won’t receive as much mercy.

And he would surely ask at some point, leading Madara to his lab and trying to get him to raise his temperature with different prompt or images.

It would certainly end up inconclusive because the thermometer would break before Madara reaches his limit (like I said, he can get very, very, VERY hot, and the tool of the time aren't great to mesure that, but perhaps with seals... anyway, more work for Tobirama, not that he's complaining)

I think Mito would also be curious, but she would do the reasonable thing and ask Madara and the Uchiha healers, instead of playing with fire. Bold of you to assume she would stop Hashirama from burning himself, tho. It’s way too entertaining, and he can heal himself anyway.

Also, I think we need to keep in mind that certain type of clothing are not made to withstand fire or heat, so Madara has to be mindful of that (most of his clothes are a level of fireproof, but with the fact that he doesn’t cut his hair like his mother did, the fireproof fabric is getting rare and accidents may happen if he borrows non fireproof clothing, like Hashirama’s for example)
