Surgery a success! Home safe n sound and a bit sore. I super did not live down the 'hard stick' allegations 😭 the nurse was like "damn yeah you're not wrong"

connor offered his sister an empathetic smile. most people hated getting iv's put in, so she was far from alone with her sentiment. "i think you'll survive. they should only need to give you another one if this one blows, so just make sure you keep your arm as straight as possible and you should be fine. how are you feeling? did doctor halstead take good care of you?" because if not, connor wouldn't hesitate to have a word with his fellow doctor.

Life and health updates under the cut!

If anyone has followed me on my old blogs, you’ll know the last 14 months have been absolute hell. After being diagnosed with lupus induced myocarditis, a life threatening condition in which an autoimmune disorder attacks my own heart, there hasn’t been much room for happiness and living. I’ve been in and out of the hospital about 6 times in the last 14 months.

Today I finally started my treatment after fighting with insurance for months trying to get it approved. I have to do intense immunotherapy/chemotherapy treatments every 2 weeks. Even after insurance, I’m paying $900 an infusion. Unsure for how long, unsure for how many I have to do total. My condition is apparently rare and this is somewhat experimental.

And for those who don’t know, I’m an oncology nurse and I give this medication to my patients all the time so I know what to expect. Also a bit upsetting a lot of my patients get it for free and I have to pay, but I guess it’s out of my control. I’m not asking for money, but I am asking for prayers, even if you don’t believe, I really would appreciate if you could.

I had a reaction within 20 minutes of starting the infusion because it’s a very intense medication that’s attacking my own body. Again, I give this drug many times so I sort of knew it would happen. Thankfully after many hours of slow running I was able to finish it.

I have never felt so physically tired in my entire life. I essentially got to lol how zombie like I feel right now, like I’m too tired to even heat up dinner. It’s going to be a long few months of this.

Just wanted to update those who often check in on me. I really appreciate those who check in and send me positive thoughts. Hopefully with starting treatment, we can beat this lupus and I can get my life back.

Please continue to pray if you do. I’m a strong believer in prayer. Pray for healing, strength, and a raise at work lol this is going to get expensive. It’s given me an entirely new look on my career to be in a spot my patients are in all the time. Even if I don’t have cancer, I’m still getting the same treatment they are. If anything, this will make me a better nurse and better person. I really hope there’s a purpose in this.
