A Good Turn, Chapter 6
Strategic Paranoia
Summary:
In which there is a big misunderstanding, Dante is once again running around without a shirt, and a wild Morrison appears!
Excerpt:
Courtyard door open, Dante paused, just for a moment, to look over his shoulder. It was so stupid! Unbelievably stupid! ... But he looked anyway. Looked and mourned the most stable home he'd he'd had since the manor burned. His shop was the furthest thing from a manor, but it had been his. He'd hoped to offer it to his wayward twin, who must've been just as tired of running as Dante was.
"Stay with me. We'll make it work. I'll give you space, I won't touch your books, I won't even speak to you if you don't want me to— just please, stay with me."
He'd whispered that promise, that wish, that prayer, every night until the Temen-ni-gru had risen. When Vergil hadn't even given him a chance to make his offer, Dante had almost given in to the despair and loneliness— only to be given a second chance with Nero. It would've been nice to fix the place up, to see a child's drawings pinned alongside band posters and city maps, to get a doorframe marked with growing measurements, and have a little pair of tennis shoes tossed next to his boots, and witness a thousand other changes he couldn't begin to predict.
It would've been nice to have a real home with a real family again.
To his shock, his vision went blurry, though no tears actually fell. It was close though. Stupid. Stupid stupid stupid!
"You're wasting time on sentiment," accused the voice in his head that sounded like Vergil.
"Shut up, I know," he muttered, swiping at his eyes with the heel of one hand, and finished stepping into the skinny driveway...
DEVIL MAY CRY 5 ● J.D. MORRISON

Devil May Cry Headcanon: J.D. Morrison
The existence of devils isn't widely known in the DMC universe. It's why Dante has a code word for people who call his 'shop' with devil-related issues. He can't just advertise as a Devil Hunter.
It's also why the premier paranormal info brokers in the country use a code name for their booking agents. The name is J.D. Morrison. When any of the few devil hunters gets notified about a job from 'Morrison' they know it's a devil gig. Using the same code name also helps the group to benefit from the name's reputation. Everyone knows a job from Morrison is legitimate.
Dante always works with one of two specific Morrisons (the one from the series and the one from DMC5) as they're the two operating in and around Capulet City at present (and for the past couple decades).
Series Morrison was always an information broker. He built a reputation for himself among bounty hunters (which most devil hunters work as between devil jobs) for his thorough notes, solid leads, and ability to keep his cool under circumstances that would make most people piss their pants. It's why he was recruited to become a Morrison. He was the first Morrison to approach Dante, after tracking 'Tony Redgrave' down to Devil May Cry.
DMC5 Morrison was a bounty hunter who eventually learned of devils on a job gone wrong and started hunting devils as well. Humans don't last long fighting devils though. If they aren't killed on the job (as most are), the strain of keeping up with such creatures wears their bodies down too much to go on for long. When he started noticing his knees couldn't keep up, he started passing on most devil hunting jobs. The Morrison he'd worked with had always been impressed by his job reports. The way he could note and retain information about the devils he fought would be useful for an information broker, so he was offered a job and he took it.
Lady is starting to wear down. Her shoulder, in particular, isn't going to hold up to many more blasts from Kalina Ann, no matter how well Nico can adjust the huge weapon for her. The Morrisons are currently debating whether they should offer her a job in the near future or not.
Dante really sounded like he was ready to fight with an 8 year old over a strawberry sundae
Just a simple concept art of my Genderbend version of DMC5 for a future project.
I hope you like it :)
