Since we’re focused on post NHL Jack, here’s my headcanon I’ve spent 80-120 fantasy hours on:
After retiring Jack starts a YouTube channel where he produces super high quality videos all revolving around the same theme: “Ex-NHL Player Attempts [insert sport here]” and eventually everyone just calls the channel Jack Attempts
Just, 40yo Jack Zimmermann playing baseball. Basketball. Cricket. Skateboarding. American vs. Canadian football. Synchronized swimming. Beach volleyball. Dressage.
Interviewing professional athletes and asking for their tips. Really trying to show the physical mechanics of a sport while giving athletes space to talk about the mental and emotional tools they use.
He plays with the First Nations Lacrosse Association, attempts to hit pitches from Olympic softball players, goes to Scotland to play on the oldest golf courses, learns an ice skating routine with Bitty (who insists he can’t wear hockey skates so sweet sweet Jack has to learn how to skate again but he DOES IT), bobsleds and surfs and pole vaults and tries anything and everything he can from actual professional athletes
And then, y’know, one day Holster (who’s found his way into the performing/musical world) mentions that Broadway performers are athletes who sing and Jack’s like challenge accepted
