Relationship Analysis: Why Kanan/Hera Works and Kyle/Jan Doesn't
Look, I don't hate Jan Ors. She's a good character, very well rounded, and quite impressive. However, unlike Hera, her approach to relationships/family is....lacking. And because of that lacking, I feel she's not a good match for Kyle.
Allow me to explain, if you feel inclined to listen. Otherwise, nothing is stopping you from ignoring my post.
This plot has been rattling my brain for years. Here it is:
“You might as well as be a stormtrooper!” In another life, he was.
Basically, in which Cassian and Jyn have a little bit of both Kyle Katarn and Jan Ors.
Kyle Katarn, Coded Transmission. To Jan Ors.
Subject: Prison Breakout Of 1 ABY.
I was requested by members of the Rebel High Command, to infiltrate a prison colony on a jungle planet to recover a Rebel agent named Kaitlyn Eres. This was only two months after I’d received the Star Of Alderaan honorific, and I’d done my fair share of celebrating. So I decided now was time to return to the job.
With my imperial contacts, especially one friend of my father’s, a man named Austin’d crafted up an identity for me. Kyle Zar, someone who’d had a warrant out on his arrest for the brutalizing of a ISB Informant in a random mugging. I turned myself in. They probed for questioning, but nobody thought I was Katarn. I was transported to the prison colony, where I’d met a few figures. First of all, Kaitlyn herself. Second of all, Cade.. I wanna say “Derden”? I wasn’t sure of his last name.
Onto Kaitlyn, she explained on why she was here. I explained to her why I was here.
Her side of the story described a.. living planet, where the sea had the force. She described Rahn’s sparing of an Inquisitor, and she was captured when she attempted to fight off Imperial forces on her own volition.
Onto Cade, Cade was a blond-haired; I think, green-eyed mandalorian, following after the movements that’d arose during the Clone Wars. Passionate, but seemed to not do anything ON those passions. I’d describe him as a coward, although harsh those words are, it’s what I see as my truth. Last I saw Cade? He was a bartender at a cantina in Tatooine, and at a nightclub on Naboo (where I took a good friend of mine. Hope the force’s with that little guy, he went missing some time ago.)
Anyways, back on track. The facility was faulty, thanks to a duo of Rebel Saboteurs, named Corvis and the other only going by “DN.” in my transmissions with him.
I coordinated with a heavily accented fair-skinned man with raven hair alongside Cade, Kaitlyn and others as the faults of the base leaked through. I subdued an Imperial Stormtrooper watching over us. I was assisted by the aforementioned man, and I used a multitool we were given for labor as to save Cade’s life, plunging it into a stormtrooper’s slit of his armor. I’d learned of that slit from my Omega Exercise, where I’d lost a good friend thanks to it. May Tobias rest in peace.
The escape was coordinated alongside heavy weather conditions. This was another advantage, and an issue. The chaos allowed us to escape haste-fully through the vents. We made it out, looking into the chaos that was ongoing.
The accented man, whose name I never learned was shot whereas he and I both knew he wouldn’t make it out. Stayed there, and gave us time, or just died from his injuries, his body being discovered at a later date. Imperials didn’t encounter us until we were way down the trail, so either situation could’ve happened. Now, onto the encounter.
We moved carefully, near a ravine of sorts and within the foliage. I noticed a home quite far away, and that was our objective, getting to some civilization. Austin had a ship placed out for me, proper clearance codes and all, in a garage near “town hall.”
I had this stinging feeling in my neck as I trailed through the foliage. Wasn’t anything physical, knew that for sure. It’s something you get the instinct for. As if you were tracing the exact kriffing steps of what’d been taught to you in “Ambush 101” on the wrong end of it.
Quickly told everyone to duck.
As fast as possible.
**It’s as if i got a instinct for it. Same thing happened at Danuta, on Fest, and on Coruscant.**
I grabbed for a depleted weapon. Knew that, only a few shots in it.
Let the gun guide itself. And it guided itself in the direction that was needed.
It was about 9 Imperial Army soldiers (the basic conscripts, not the , and I’d taken out four of them.
They fired wildly, eager to inflict something onto us.
Kaitlyn used the force, thrashing one to the ground and getting a blaster for the both of us. Cade lied down and stayed there as I requested.
Was kind of harder then firing on a regular stormtrooper.
The coldness, inhuman masks thy wore made you forgot you were firing on another sentient being.
It gave a slight peep into their souls— their mouths. Their screams.
I noticed one had a medic symbol all too late.
And I wonder, Jan.
Am I degrading down onto their level with the numbness of it all? Of it? I haven’t lost my conviction in the mission; not in a slightest.
I recall in the earlier days. When all I wanted to do was inflict that wrath onto others for my Father’s death. And I remember when Nico went missing. How I wanted nothing more but to find those responsible, but that was also a loose end.
And this reminds me why I need a community. People to keep me steady- to hold me to a standard of the person I am. That i’m meant to be.
Anyways, after the skirmish.
I met back with Austin at the ship.
Eres and Derden got off the planet.
I will send more about this, and I may get Rahn to create one about the living planet thing.
Transmission over.
@helsingvania hope I didn’t mischaracterizing cade, kinda a retelling of those rps but I had to make up the rest of it all, this is for the anniversary of well.. ffa
