I am working on those requests I swear I am. But can you please hear me out on this before I answer any asks. I've been thinking about it for a bit now:

Davey sees Jack in everything. In the stars at night because they're almost as bright and beautiful as Jack's eyes when he laughs, in a steaming cup of tea because Jack's hugs make him feel a similar kind of safe and warm, in the simple laughs and discreet touches.

And David sees Jack in the poems he reads. Especially the Polish ones even though he knows Jack wouldn't understand them. And by that I mean:

Once I lose sight of you, I cannot once In my mind renew the image of you;

However, sometimes because of my desire The image is close in my mind And I repeat the question:

Is this friendship? Or is it love?

When your hand is placed upon my palm

A wave of blissful calm envelops me

It seems as though a light sleep will end my life:

Yet, the lively beating of a heart wakes me, And loudly asks

Is this friendship? So also love?

This are 2nd and 5th stanzas of Adam Mickiewicz's Uncertainty (Niepewność). Now for the record I don't like this translation but it's not THAT bad either. I do encourage everyone to look the whole poem up. It's geniuely very beautiful at least in Polish 😔

I especially mean the is is friendship or is it love part. I just love to think that especially given the canon times of the story it'd be a confusing question.

My Javey Headcanons

Quickly after the strike Jack made the realization that he has feelings for Davey and Katherine made the realization that she is a lesbian (and in love with Sarah) so they broke up and Jack quickly got with Davey, Jack and Katherine are still friends but they’re not lovers anymore

Jack is very possessive over Davey especially whenever Romeo talks to him often putting his arm around him or holding his hand tightly to show that Davey’s his the reason for this is because of Romeo's constant flirtatious comments towards Davey saying things like “hey handsome” or  “did it hurt when you fell from heaven?” ect. Jack hates whenever Romeo does this and has threaten him a number of times

Davey once saw Jack attempt to cook something now he's banned from the kitchen

They frequently slow dance together

Davey can't draw for shit but Jack can

Jack gently runs his fingers through Davey's hair when he thinks he think's asleep

Jack thinks that Davey isn't aware

Jack doesn't know this but he's fully aware of it

Davey will pretend to be asleep sometimes just to get Jack to do it

Jack will lovingly say "Shut up" to Davey whenever he get's too flirty

Just in time for winter!

Spot will come over from brooklyn for snowball fights

Race says “he just likes seeing my face”

Spot retorts ”yeah, seeing it get hit by my snowballs”

“Those aren’t the only balls of yours that will be in my f-”

“SHUT UP RACE”

Everyone is scared of Al because he has an Arm™

If anybody hits Crutchie, Jack goes berserk with his revenge

“Sorry Dave, I love ya, but you’d just drag me down”

“You what him?!”

“Mmph!” as davey shoves snow in jack’s face to keep him from talking.

“He-he said he love to… help me!”

“Suure…”

Les usually wins because nobody can bring themselves to hit him

Well, nobody except Race

But don’t be fooled, the kid is vicious

Specs keeps getting his glasses knocked off by snowballs

Once Race was sneaking around all stealthy when he saw Jack kissing Davey behind a snowdrift

He threw a snowball, and it landed right between their faces

Jack jumped up, wiping snow from his face, and shouted “RACETRACK HIGGINS I KNOW YOU DID THIS I’M GONNA GET YOU BACK FOR THIS”

“I’d like to see you try!”

Race was rolling around in hysterics for so long,

Spot picked him up and marched him inside to the fire

“Racetrack you dumbass you’re going to get yourself killed of pneumonia”

“Awww, would you miss me?”

Spot, blushing: “No, but then there’d be no one to annoy Jack.”

Jack actually did get him back two days later

Jack was waiting on the fire escape, and when Race walked by, he dumped a mountain of snow on his head

Jack came home that day with a black eye cursing spot under his breath

Davey Jacobs who whenever he's taking care of Jack gives him a quick kiss on the forehead before Jack falls asleep. Actually to hell with that if Jack as much as gets a paper cut he gives him a forehead kiss just out of habit because that's what he'd do with Les and he's sleep deprived, tired and he takes care of people

Albert:

Has a locket with his mom's photo in it. It's from when he was around 2 years old and she's holding him in her arms and smiling brightly. One of Albert's biggest fears is forgetting about her.

He and his mom have the same big brown eyes. Evan his dad admitted that though both of his brothers tried to convince him he was actually adopted. (Started doing that when he was 9 and didn't stop)

He and Race love to pull all sorts of jokes on the other Newsies. This includes Spot but the one time they did it Albert was actually convinced he was going to get killed by the Brooklyn leader himself.

Javey:

I've been thinking about this one for a bit now and: Jack has no regard for personal space when someone is sick. What I mean by that is that Davey could have a flu and Jack will still insist on hugging him and cuddling and is willing to share tea and soup. He doesn't usually catch anything but still.

This is a fanfic idea I have but Jack just loves the way Davey sings! And he didn't hear it until he was staying over and Les had a bad dream so to calm his brother down Davey sang him a lullaby. At first Jack didn't say anything because he knew Davey would be embarassed but now he also asks Davey to sing to him.

Jack will under no circumstances wear a proper winter hat, gloves or a scarf. He says he just doesn't get cold but Davey will chase him around with a scarf he knitted and yell for him to get dressed accordingly to the weather.

I'm assuming winter holidays? Well if not clarify but that'll be it for now! This is fusion of musical and movie version by the wayyyy

YASSS!!!

First thing first Davey is always cold. That boy is going to be trembling in the fall can you imagine him in winter? It doesn't help that his coat is an old hand me down thing that barely provides any warmth. Jack on the other hand is never and I mean never cold! It may be snowing outside and maybe then with enough luck Davey will convince him to put on a jacket. But you'll never catch Jack in a scarf, hat or gloves (that is until Davey knitted some for him and even then he only wears those on the especially cold days)

They take walks together, Jack has Davey wear the gloves that Medda got for him a few years back, he'll always find some money to buy his boyfriend a coffee or hot chockolate. Usually he gets it from Medda or Denton. He'll still throw snow balls at poor Davey because is it really winter's break if he doesn't?

When there is enough snow Les drags both of the boys out of the comfortable warmth of the apartment and they build a snowman. He'll also throw snowballs at his brother which usually results in a big snow fight. They'll stay outside till it gets dark and ima calls them for dinner.

Jack stays with the Jacobs more often in winter then he does in the summer. For one because it's better to sleep there (certainly warmer) and two is that Easther would rather die then let the boy walk alone so late after dark. They rearrange everything so that Jack and Davey can sleep in the same bed and Les is often moved to the sofa or if he's feeling especially cuddle he'll just hug his ima (Les insist on sleeping on the sofa and says it's almost like his own bed)

They also stay inside on some days and Davey only drags Jack out grocery shopping. Then they'll make a day of making rosół which is a polish soup perfect for cold days! They'll also play board games and invite some people over. Sarah gets Katherine to come and they have a board games marathon. They play cards and scrabble and every game of monopoly ends with Katherine flipping the board.

Other of their indoors activities include: Jack doing his watercolor art (usually Christmas cards he and Davey send out together) and Davey knitting in the corner of the room in an old armchair. They'll put on some classic music or (in modern au) a Christmas movie. Other then that Davey will do his homework and work on some essays and while he does Jack will get especially cuddly and whine for Davey to hug him. They also cuddle on the sofa as Davey reads Jack a book. In modern au specifically they'd watch movies with Les who'd always want to re-watch Home Alone.

Jack takes Davey ice skating and they always end up with Jack leading his boyfriend along because Davey will not keep his balance on his own. They also go to cozy cafes and share a hot chockolate with whipped cream.

They spend a lot of time with the other newsies (snow fights, singing, watching movies or telling stories) with Katherine and Sarah who are the only couple willing to go on double dates with them but mostly they babysit Les.

Oh and it's not truly winter's break if Davey doesn't drag Jack out to see fiddler on the rooftop, and not truly winter's break if on their way back Davey doesn't annoy him with singing "Sunrise, sunset" over and over again.

They as I already said love to cuddle and put a ton of blankets over themselves while simultaneously staying as close to each other as possible because while the apartment is warmer that being outdoors it's still not perfect.

hello once again asking for help :3

modern headcanons? I was gonna write an au and jack and Katherine date for a little but then break up so I wanna know ideas for how they break might break up and/or how Jack and Davey get together?

Oooh that's an interesting one! I feel like they aren't into each other in terms of physical attraction or any romantic attraction really. Maybe at first because it's new, it's the first serious relationship for both of them, they don't know what to expect, this never happened before (subtle Bonnie and Clyde reference?!)

But they both have different needs and wants.

And so they slowly drift away from each other. They spend time together at school sure but don't really have time to hang out after. They don't kiss or anything and Katherine doesn't really want to do that (neither does Jack). She values him as a friend and tries to tell herself this is just how all relationships are at first.

They flirt with other people and are aware of this. At some point it's only a matter of when they'll talk things out.

When they do it goes quickly and rather smoothly since they both knew it was pretty much over already.

They still want to be friends and while it's awkward at first soon they manage to go back on track.

I also love the idea of Katherine knowing Jack was into Davey even when they were still dating (though he only realised by the end of their relationship)

She'd be annoyed about it when they were a couple. She felt like she had to be even though she loved Sarah as much as he loved Davey.

When they broke up Katherine decided to sort things out. She talked to Sarah- they got together. She also talked to Jack asked him what he'll do about Davey.

Now I feel like I made Kathy's and Jack's relationship too sad so here is the thing: They love to talk to each other, they love their quality time: Kath is reading or writing while Jack paints. They're just platonic in their relationship, they're friends and just that.

Okay so like it really depends on what you're going for. It can be fluff it can be hurt comfort it can be anything! Gosh I was given so much freedom!

Okay well first of all Davey is pinning for Jack from the start because I the mod of this blog live for unrequired love.

But see Davey won't make a move at Jack because: He can't risk loosing his best friend and a heartbreak, Jack's dating Kathy and Davey can't just do that to her (before they break up), He knows how badly this can end, I mean sure Jack's not homophobic but what if Davey will make it wierd like he always does (cue to my headcanons for Davey's backstory that I won't post yet! Unless someone asks I mean)

So he's just there pinning for Jack and being comforted by Race of all people untill Katherine and Jack berak up.

Still he thinks Jack wouldn't date him but it's better now. They get closer and spend more time together.

So now a bit about Jack and I'll get to the point I swear. You could make Davey like his gay awekening (well bi awekening) He could never imagine himself dating a guy before. Jack's straight after all right? But with Davey he started thinking about what it'd be like to take him on long walks and land him his gloves or wrap him tightly in a scarf then maybe pull him closer and, no Jack can't do that Davey is his friend not his lover. But he though about what it'd be like to bring him tea to bed in the morning and hold him.

At first he convinced himself it's normal to feel this way about a friend. Especially one as amazing as Davey. Then he though about it and he never felt like this about anyone else. He though like this about Katherine at first but that feeling died down. Then she (Kathy) talked to him and asked him weather he and Davey were dating. And he realised that well no they weren't but he'd love to date Davey.

Okay and the get together part! Ooooo what can I come up with?! I like to imagine they were at Jacob's house playing some music (a pop-song stuck in their heads so long that they just had to found it. Maybe Ari or Chappell Roan). They were laughing, Davey was singing.

Then Jack leaned in to kiss Davey it was a split second before the two of the pulled away.

You can take it from here but honestly I like to think Davey saw Sarah in the doorframe and panicked. Fully ran away. He was worried she wouldn't understand or that their dad will find out and he has no idea what Mayer would say (Yes I stole it from Little Miss Perfect Demo album. But please listen to You've Got Me that's exackly what I have in mind)

Jack was dumbfounded Sarah followed Davey and told him it's alright and that she's very happy for him (she can also tell him about Katherine oooo drama!)

Then Jack finds the two of them and they finally talk things out damnit why did they take so long /jkjk

A Davey headcanon:

Davey is one of those people who just doesn’t like coffee.

He hates the taste of it.

Jack offered it to him once.

He took a tiny sip... and grimaced with disgust

He finds it too bitter

It’s random. His father likes it. His mom likes it. His sister likes it. Even Les likes it.

He likes tea though.

He loves to curl up with a book and a warm cup of tea.

Jack calls him a fancy dork.

Davey used to respond indignantly but now he just sticks his tongue out at him.
