Apologies in advance for the person I will become once this drops in June.
Ever since I thought about the similarities of Kaz, Cassel and Jazz I couldn’t get it out of my head.
I just read the new short about jazz in “Life is Short and then you die: first encounters with murder” and it was amazing. I missed Jazz so much !!!! He also needs a big hug omg this boi has my whole heart
I just really, really, miss Jasper Dent </3
In general I’m not sure how I feel about the I Hunt Killers trilogy by Barry Lyga, but one thing that I do appreciate about it is Jazz’s unique brand of unreliable narrator. Like, he’s generally extremely reliable about the things that actually happen in the narrative, but once he needs to relate how he feels about something, what he wants or why he wants it he takes a sharp left turn into completely unreliable. Not only is he prone to over analyzing everything he feels and ruminating about whether or not he truly does things for the reasons he thinks he does, he also has scenes where he’s quite obviously panicking but never acknowledges it. Not to mention he has on page intrusive thoughts regularily and is generally obsessed with the idea that he might secretly be a serial killer. Reading from his point of view in book one is a roller coaster and probably the best written thing about the trilogy, which is why the direction Barry Lyga takes his character in the later two books is one of the biggest problems I have with the trilogy as a whole.
My IHK posts are getting a lot of attention so!!!
Jazzcon is great but also
imagine Howie and Jazz and Connie all being poly and happy and healthy.
Thank you, that is all.
It’s been a year since I flew through the I Hunt Killers series, and I’m still amazed it exists
