TWW Rewatch: Jefferson Lives (5.03)
• I remember liking this ep solely because there were scenes with Abbey and Zoey lol. and I analyzed the hell out of this ep the first time I watched (I’ll reblog the post) but I’m definitely not doing that again.
• also I remember the timeline being very off....like very off. Zoey was kidnapped on May 7th, the night of her graduation and then found like 50 hours later which would put the date at May 9th, probably. But then I remember Abbey mentions so mething to Leo about “72 hours...the bruises are still on her face” but it’s literally 4th of July
so like...what kinda continuity lmao
• oh yeah the horse flashbacks
• aw the way Zoey’s face lights up and says “Dad” when she sees Bartlet. (Shit now that I got to the end of the ep, I now realize this was part of her front to pretend she was ok 😫)
• ...did Josh just tell Leo he blew up toilets at a ballpark to impress girls?
• aw Bartlet and Zoey making coffee
• “could that thing be any louder?”
Abbey is channeling Chandler Bing I see

• makes me laugh tho cause supposedly that was the first time Charlie came up to the farm which would’ve probably been back in s1 when they were dating but the pic was clearly taken recently because of Stockard Channing’s new haircut
• aww, the subtitles didn’t say anything but when Abbey leaned into kiss Zoey I think she said, “You’re very strong and I’m very proud of you.” 😌♥️
• and ofc the reporters are asking questions anyway 🙄
• I’m sorry, but with the cameras going a million miles an hour, they had to have captured her looking scared.

• nah in all seriousness I feel bad for Zoey for having to pretend she’s ok, for both the public and her father.
• the same actor played another political role in some movie but all I think of when I see him is Rex from Desperate Housewives

• (I know Clinton was acquitted ok it’s a joke but when I hear the words “president” and “sex scandal” what else am I supposed to think? None of you say Tr*mp I swear to god)

“Well you shouldn’t. I’m not very religious so there’s the risk that my praying could be taken as insincere or even an affront, which, if it’s a vengeful god, could have made matters worse.”

I get why Abbey is mad and I understand her anger towards Bartlet. She’s a mother, her child was taken from her, she had no idea why and then she hears on the news about the Shareef assassination and the speculations that it’s related to Zoey’s kidnapping, so she places the blame on Bartlet and takes out her anger on him, (even though it may be misdirected because I’m still not 100% sure who kidnapped Zoey??) Anyway I get that, I really do. But then to take it out on Leo??? Come on now. I get that he advises Bartlet on what he thinks is best to do in certain situations, but he’s not the only one who does that, and at the end of the day, it’s Bartlet who makes the final decision. So seeing her be so cold to Leo is just...kinda justified cause she is still angry and processing but at the same time...no.
• and then there’s the whole 72 hours comment, implying Zoey’s been home for 3 days...when it’s the 4th of July!!

• “Debbie, you were supposed to interrupt me after five minutes.”
“It’s only been three, sir.”
“Donna went to the bathroom.”
“She’s not allowed to do that.”
I know he’s kidding, but like what did he do when Donna had to pee before they had an intern? Did he just scream her name not realizing she went to the bathroom? Would be then have to wait for her to come back from the bathroom to do whatever he needed? Did Donna just never go to the bathroom all day? These are the real questions
• honestly how can Bartlet not see that Zoey’s putting up a front? Even if she’s been doing it her whole life around him, coming back from a kidnapping is pretty fucking traumatic so of course she should be having problems. Good on Charlie for telling him and being comfortable enough to tell him.
• what is with all these weird camera angles John Wells?? The overhead shots, the shaky movements, close ups of feet?! I cannot.
• are they...kissing all of their stress away? Were they turned on from all the stress they’re feeling?
• what if Donna walked in?

• shit I forgot about the immigrant plotline. now that’s something we’ll never see in the US.

• CJ watching fireworks alone from her office. ☹️ you can tell she’s taking the Shareef assassination harder than she let on.
