I know I don't actually post around here, only lurk, but I wanted to talk a little about the newest chapter because. well. yeah. For me personally, it felt like a total destruction of any remnants of old lookism. Not old old lookism with the schools and all that, but old lookism that while it was mostly about fighting, the character's plots weaved together while still respecting their own individual values.

Jake wanted to protect Big Deal and find Sinu. Sinu just wanted a happy life for Big Deal and Jake while enjoying his own romance. Daniel's whole goal was justice. Back then, the plan was beat Charles and then beat Workers. Johan just wanted to help his mom. Eli wanted to protect his home. The list goes on and on, but the point is they all had a reason for being part of the plot of Lookism.

But now what? Sinu is helping save the woman that literally took him captive from a twisted obsession. Johan has dragged himself back into the scene despite finally getting the normal life he wanted. And Daniel? He's helping the organization that he swore to defeat.

Even if they had to help workers, why couldn't they help Mandeok? Sure, still not the greatest option, but far far better than saving freaking Mitsuki. Literally none of this makes any sense at all, both in terms of plot and viewer enjoyment (I'm ignoring all the lookism glazers for this point don't bring them up).

As someone that accepted and was even happy that Johan was no longer part of the plot despite him being my favorite character, every part of this arc feels like spitting on his character. He, according to literally everything we know about him, doesn't care. Unless his mother is at risk, he has no reason to be here.

If this was about old characters, what about Gun and Goo? You know, the people that actually enjoyed the system and could reap some benefits from joining the fray? Out of all the characters PTJ could've chosen to bring back, why Johan and Sinu, the two that quite literally have no reason to?

I know this is a long long rant from someone who's going to continue reading regardless, but it just fundamentally upset me. Despite the quality dropping (in my opinion) after 517, I've still found enjoyment in the series? But this? This just feels pointless and borderline insulting to the rest of the series.

I don't even know anymore, I just know that I'm mad and I had to write out my thoughts somehow.

and then he starts rapping in front of dg 😭😭 and allied stand there like 😦

crystal: neglectful father, living in charles' shadow (daughter of HNH group's ceo), father was a member of gapryong's fist, father died under mysterious circumstances, crystal would know his suicide seems suspicious and likely wants to investigate his death + background - would lead her down the path of pre gen and gapryong's murder, FINE AF.

jake: neglectful father, living in gapryong's shadow (son of gapryong kim), father led gapryong's fist, father died under mysterious circumstances, jake knows charles had james 🔪 gapryong but doesn't know HOW it went down - wants to look into pre gen and gapryong's murder, FINE AF.

johan joins j high's beauty department and the girls there go CRAZY because there's another HOT guy joining. all the girls flock over to them. johan stands there like 🧍🏻‍♂️.

vasco and zack watch with tearful eyes because the people they saved are the ones getting girls instead of them 🤦🏽‍♀️

vin jin says something like aren't you the elementary school graduate with fucked up eyes?! and johan's expression darkens. everyone's like OMG vin jin is in for it now 😧

but johan just smiles and pats his shoulder as he walks away.

johan is great at doing hair. eli is shit at doing hair. johan is smug af about it. but they're becoming friends 😄 let us leave worker's badges and broken wands behind us

The two of you were seated in your room, a familiar space where you’d spent countless hours over the years you've known each other. The sunlight streaming through the window caught the strands of his chestnut-brown hair, which was, as always, an unruly mess.

“Your hair’s a disaster.” you teased, grabbing a comb from your desk.

Johan shot you a flat look, though a faint blush crept to his cheeks. “It’s fine the way it is.”

“Not while I’m here, it’s not.” you countered, taking a seat behind him on the bed. You began working through the strands, carefully parting and combing.

“Stop moving,” you said, exasperated as he shifted slightly for the third time.

“I’m not moving...” he muttered, but the stubborn smirk tugging at his lips told you otherwise.

“Yes, you are. If you don’t hold still, I’m never going to finish.”

“I didn’t ask you to do this.” he quipped.

You rolled your eyes. “Fine. If you’re going to be difficult, I’ll make you stay still.”

Before Johan could protest, you swung a leg over, settling yourself on his lap. His face immediately flushed as you held his head still with your thighs.

“Wha- what are you doing?” he stammered, his usual composure completely shattered.

“This.” you replied nonchalantly, resuming your work. “Now you have no excuse to move.”

He sat frozen beneath you, his hands clenching into fists at his sides. His bangs brushed against your fingers as you worked, and he avoided looking at you, his jaw tight. The silence in the room felt heavier than usual, but you were too focused to notice the way his ears were turning red.

After a while, you finally leaned back to admire your work. “Perfect! See? That wasn’t so hard, was it-"

“Stop." Johan said abruptly, his voice quiet but firm.

You frowned, caught off guard by his tone. “Stop what?”

“This.” he said, gesturing between the two of you, his bangs falling back into his face. “You know what you’re doing. Don’t act like you don’t.”

“What are you talking about?” you asked, genuinely confused.

“You always do this!" he muttered, his voice sharper now. “Getting close, touching me like this… acting like it doesn’t mean anything. You have to know, right? Or are you just messing with me?”

His words hit you like a ton of bricks. You stared at him, frozen, as the realization began to sink in. When you didn’t respond immediately, Johan let out a frustrated sigh, his nonchalant mask slipping back into place.

“Ugh. Forget it.” he mumbled, moving to stand, but you grabbed his wrist.

“Johan...” you said softly, your voice cutting through the tension. “I didn’t know. I swear I didn’t. But… I’m glad you told me.”

He froze, his eyes snapping back to yours. “You… are?”

You nodded, your cheeks warming as your grip on his wrist tightened slightly. “Because I feel the same way.”

His eyes widened, and for a moment, he just stared at you, his usual guarded demeanor completely gone. Then, with a quiet huff, he looked away, the faintest hint of a smile tugging at his lips.

“Good.” he muttered, his voice quieter now. “But next time, maybe don’t use your thighs to trap me.”

You laughed, the tension in the room finally breaking. “You’re impossible, you know that?”

Johan smirked, though his ears were still pink. “And you’re annoying.”

Author’s Note: It was like 5am when I got this ask so you know I had to get on it (4 hours later lol) I had fun writing this. It’s super new in my docs so I thought of the title after writing it lol. NO SMUT

You didn’t really plan on ending up here with him. The sky bleeding out in orange and pink like some cliché webtoon background. Johan is seated next to you on a quiet rooftop, arms over his knees, looking like he’d rather be anywhere else.

Except he wasn’t leaving. And that kind of said everything.

“Sunsets are lame” - he said suddenly. Voice flat.

You didn’t even look at him - “Then why are you still here?”

Silence. Typical.

The wind was light tonight, just enough to make your hair lift and sway. Johan didn’t comment on it but you could feel it: the weight of his gaze shifting between you and the sky, back and forth, like he couldn’t decide which annoyed him more.

You could tell he was thinking too hard. He always did. Johan didn’t know how to just sit and enjoy things. That would mean letting his guard down. That would mean… admitting things out loud.

“Your hair’s messy” - he said next.

You almost laughed - “You’re one to talk.”

Another pause. Longer this time.

When you finally glanced at him, his face was half-shadowed by the orange light. Eyes narrowed. Cheekbones sharp. He really did look like someone who belonged more in a fight than in a sunset moment like this. But he was here anyway. That said something too.

Then, real quiet this time, Johan spoke again:

“Have you always looked like this?”

It threw you off - “Like what?”

He didn’t answer right away. His jaw clenched a little, gaze dropping to your hands folded in your lap, then back up to your face. You waited, curious now. His ears were pink. Barely noticeable, but it was there.

“I don’t know. Just…” - His voice came out lower now, rougher like he was forcing the words through his teeth - “Beautiful. Or whatever.”

That actually made you freeze a little. Johan was many things: violent, closed off, rude as hell, but straightforward romantically wasn’t usually one of them.

You tilted your head. Smiling. Not teasing. Not really - “That hard to say?”

“Shut up” - he muttered, turning his face away like he wasn’t the one who started it.

For a second, it felt weirdly fragile between you both. Like if you said the wrong thing, he’d get up and leave. Like if you said the right thing, he might stay forever.

You leaned your shoulder lightly into his. Not enough to push him off balance. Just enough to touch - “You’ve always looked good too, you know.”

Now he really was blushing. You could feel the heat coming off him. Johan didn’t answer that, of course he didn’t, but his hand shifted on his knee until his pinky brushed against yours. Barely there. Testing.

The sun dipped lower. The sky going softer, purple now.

You both just sat there, quiet again, except this time it wasn’t tense. It wasn’t uncomfortable. It was just… peaceful.

Johan’s voice broke it after a while, quieter than before:

“I didn’t really notice before.”

“What?”

He didn’t look at you when he said it, just kept staring ahead. “You. I guess. I never really looked until now.”

That actually hit a little deeper than you thought it would. Because Johan wasn’t the kind of person who said things he didn’t mean. Ever.

You swallowed once. Smiling a little softer - “And now?”

Now he did look at you. Full-on. Eyes steady like he’d made up his mind about something. His voice wasn’t rough this time. Just honest:

“Now I can’t not.”

That was the most Johan Seong way of confessing something. Awkward. Blunt. Completely ruining the moment and making it better at the same time.

You didn’t say anything after that. Just leaned into him again, this time a little heavier. Letting your head fall against his shoulder while the last bit of sunlight disappeared behind the buildings.

And Johan didn’t push you off. Didn’t complain.

He just let it happen.

Which, for him, meant everything.
