If there was one number Johan found himself waiting to hear from, it was hers.
The same number he had saved back in his White Tiger Job Center days. A number he had once thought about deleting.
A long, long time ago.
Back when Lua had first invited him to Big Deal Street to meet Jake. Back when she insisted on showing him around the neighborhood. Back when revenge against Gun consumed every waking thought in his mind.
Now, revenge was over.
His mother was healthy. His eyesight had returned.
And the only thing waiting for him now was his school admission application... along with an appointment to meet Lua in thirty minutes.
Appointment.
He stubbornly called it that. Not a hangout. Definitely not a date.
Just thinking about that word made his ears burn. What if Lua didn't see it that way? What if calling it a date only made her uncomfortable?
She had already been afraid enough to make him promise never to hit her.
That memory still lingered in his mind.
Why had she asked for that promise? Had someone hurt her before?
Today, he decided he would finally ask...

Lua wasn't doing much better.
"Stop stressing so much," Yeonhui laughed as she held Lua's face in place. "Didn't he call it an appointment?"
She bit back another laugh. Teenagers really did have the strangest ways of describing their feelings these days.
Apparently, dates had become appointments.
Yeonhui dabbed a little tinted blush onto Lua's cheeks. Lua immediately wiped it off, smearing it everywhere.
"This looks weird, unnie. Please don't."
"You didn't even let me blend it properly," Yeonhui sighed as she cleaned up the mess. "Trust me. It's barely makeup."
She reapplied a tiny dot of blush before reaching for the mascara.
"If you hadn't told me this was an important appointment, I wouldn't have gone through all this effort."
As Yeonhui gently blended the blush, one question kept circling inside Lua's head.
"Isn't this a bit much... for a simple hangout?"
Yeonhui clicked her tongue.
"It's your first time seeing him after everything that happened. A little effort won't hurt."
In the end, every bit of Yeonhui's hard work went to waste.
Lua washed her face clean, pulled on her usual oversized hoodie and shorts, let her hair loose, and smiled at herself in the mirror.
It's only an appointment. Nothing more.

The café was quiet. Neither of them ordered much.
Just two glasses of peach tea sat between them as the conversation drifted naturally fom Johan's mother finally recovering, to his eyesight, to his plans of going back to school.
"So... what year are you in?" Johan suddenly asked.
Lua blinked. "I don't go to school."
"Oh."
"I work full-time for Big Deal."
Johan nodded. Of course. Not everyone dreamed of classrooms.
"You're Big Deal's Number Five, right?"
Lua smiled proudly. "Yeah. I want to stay with Big Deal and help Leader Jake."
"That's a good goal."
Johan meant it. It fascinated him how everyone carried different dreams.
Different reasons to keep moving forward. Different people they wanted to protect.
"There was a rumor you've gotten stronger," Lua said before taking a sip of her tea. "Is it true?"
"You mean my Path?"
"So that's what it's called?"
Johan nodded. "That's what my boss told me."
As he spoke, he casually pushed a plate of sweets toward her.
Lua didn't hesitate. She picked one up and happily took a bite.
"You need to be careful now," she mumbled between bites.
"Big shots will probably come after you eventually."
"I think I'm strong enough."
"That doesn't mean you should lower your guard."
"Isn't everything finally okay now?"
Lua's expression changed. "No."
She looked directly at him. "It only feels that way. The world gives you a false sense of safety. The moment you believe everything's finally peaceful...that's when something goes wrong."
She sighed. "You honestly worry me more than everyone back at Big Deal."
Johan stared at her. For a few seconds neither of them spoke.
"Why?" he finally asked.
Lua blinked.
"What?"
"Why do you worry so much about me?"
"Because you're important."
The answer came so naturally that she didn't even realize what she'd admitted.
Only when silence followed did her eyes slowly widen.
Johan's heartbeat sped up.
"Lua..."
"Hm?"
"Can I ask you something?"
She nodded.
"When you made me promise never to hit you...why?"
Lua quietly looked down at her untouched tea.
"Because I was scared of you."
She scratched her cheek awkwardly.
"Honestly, you're very famous for your strength, you know."
"So when I first met you, I didn't know what kind of person you were."
She let out an embarrassed laugh.
"...Now I do."
Something tightened painfully inside Johan's chest. Before he could stop himself, he reached across the table.
His fingers gently covered hers.
"I'll never hurt you."
Lua looked up at him.
"I know."
Then they both realized what they were doing. The warmth of each other's hands suddenly became impossible to ignore.
Almost at the same time, they quickly pulled their hands back.
Another silence settled between them but this one wasn't awkward.
"There's something I've wanted to tell you."
Lua tilted her head.
"What is it?"
"I kept calling today an appointment."
A small, nervous smile appeared on his face.
"Because I was too embarrassed to call it a date."
Lua froze.
"What?"
"I like you." The words came tumbling out before he could stop them.
His heart hammered so loudly he was sure she could hear it.
Lua's expression changed several times within the span of a few seconds, leaving Johan completely unable to tell what she was thinking.
"I... I wanted to make it clear..." Johan stammered.
Before he could say anything else—
"You finally grew the balls to confess, huh?"
Lua stood up from her chair.
Her expression remained completely neutral.
Johan's stomach dropped. Then she walked over to him.
Before he could react—
She leaned down and kissed his cheek.
"The cat-and-mouse chase is finally over."
There was unmistakable triumph in her voice.
She slipped her hand into his.
"Come on."
Without waiting for an answer, she led him out of the café, their fingers intertwined.
Hand in hand.
It took Johan one whole week to fully register that Lua liked him back. Another week to process the fact that she was actually his girlfriend.
And exactly one day after that...
He realized he wanted to kiss her...
Really, really badly. Even though they were already a couple.

Johans phone was completely drenched and broken. Well…to be honest it wasn’t his phone, but more like the work phone white tiger job center gave him. But knowing how stingy Tom Lee is he probably wants compensation…
“Such bad luck….” Johan sighed. But he couldn’t help wondering who that strange girl was. “Love at first sight, huh? Pff as if I’d believe that…”
He didn’t have any spare time for dating, he had to focus on getting money for his mother’s treatment and she wasn’t his type at all! He liked someone gentle and kind like Mira not some random impulsive girl that pushed him into the water. Well…at least she didn’t seem like a bad person considering how she saved Eden the first time they met.
“It’s not like I’ll ever see her again…maybe the love at first sight thing was just a dare her friends made her do…” Johan decided not to give it too much thought.
At least he tried to…because after that day he kept seeing glimpses of her long black hair with blonde highlights everywhere he went. At first he thought it might just be a coincidence but after a few days he was sure of it. She was following him around.
Did she really fall for me at first sight…? No way…
“Hey you….what do you want?” He decided to confront her.
“I know you were lying about the whole love at first sight thing” he quickly added, a little embarrassed.
She smiled as she looked at him with her cute puppy eyes. “Okay I’ll tell you, but promise not to hit me?”
“Wha-…” before he was able to answer she already grabbed his hand and interlinked their pinky fingers into a pinky promise.
“Alright now I’ll tell you! I’m from Big Deal!” she explained her motives and that she wanted him to join Big Deal. Yet instead of listening he was a little too focused on their linked fingers. Maybe it was because he hasn’t held the hand of her girl for such a long time but he felt a warmth creep up his face.
Her hand was so small and soft…
“Hey so were you listening?” She let loose of his hand and pouted slightly.
“Huh? Uh yeah…I’ll give it some thought…”he muttered.
“Sure! Wait I’ll give you my number reach out anytime if you’ve decided to join us!”
“Uh huh…” he just nodded.
She turned around to leave, leaving him standing alone. The hand she just held felt warm and tingly.

At night Johan was wide awake, laying in bed as the image of the girl with blonde highlights flashed up in his mind again.

He got up, splashed his face with cold water and went back to bed unable to close his eyes.
Should he maybe call her…? Well he does feel bad for Big Deal and owes them a small favor. Joining them doesn’t sound all that bad….

“Hello?” Her voice came from the other end.
“Hey. I thought about what you said earlier and-…”
“And you’ll help us?!?” She interrupted him
“Please… pretty please!!! We may not have a lot of money but I promise we’ll try to help you in every possible way if you join us!”
“I….” How could he refuse her now…
“Alright.” He sighed. A small smile forming on his lips.
“Yay! Thanks!! We owe you big time!”
“Mhm…”
“Let’s meet up now then! By the Han river? I’ll be there in 15mins!”
“Oh okay…wait right now-?”
She hung up.

He scanned her, it seemed like she left in a hurry her hair was messy and she looked a bit sleepy. She was wearing an oversized t shirt as she quickly explained the situation.
“…so it’s pretty late right now but would you come with me tomorrow to meet Jake? He’ll fill you in on the details.”
“Sure”
“Huh? I didn’t think you’d agree so easily…” she blinked a few times. Well to be honest he didn’t think he’d agree this easily either. But something about he just made it hard for him to say no.
“Why not. I…still owe you for saving Eden.”
“Oh…well haha it seems like my love for dogs really helped Big Deal this time!” She grinned.
“It’s late you should go back to rest.”
“You too.” He turned around to leave but soon stopped.
“Uhm…should I…” he hesitated “it’s not safe this late at night maybe should I walk you home…?” He turned around.
She was already gone.
Damn…that was embarrassing.
He scratched his neck and quietly walked home.
Why was he even worried about her she’s number five of Big Deal she’s probably used to walking around at night. But she seemed so young like she was around his age… how did she get the position of number five? She didn’t seem as skilled in fighting…
And why did she chose him for help… well he was strong but he had a pretty bad reputation.
And the excuse of falling for him at first sight… how much of it was made up there has to be a little bit of truth behind it…right?
“Ugh…this is annoying” he frowned but he couldn’t suppress the corners of his mouth going up.
He couldn’t afford to fall in love right now…but maybe after all this is over maybe…
The image of the girl holding his hand, smiling appeared before his eyes.

NERDHAN HEADCANONS
Nerdhan, despite his towering stature and immense strength, is incredibly shy when he first walks into class, a student joining classes so late into the academic year. The entire class stares, but he only quietly introduces himself, awkwardly adjusting his glasses.
Nerdhan ends up sitting next to you because the teacher expects you to help him catch up throughout the course. He softly tells you he was never academically active before and that he’ll be indebted to you for helping him. He is cute, not gonna lie… but also painfully shy, something that endears you to him even more.
Nerdhan who gets challenged by the guys in class because, first, he’s the new kid, and second why is he always sticking around you and your friends instead of socializing with everyone else? Johan effortlessly puts those bullies in their place, and you’re left awed because apparently he isn’t just a shy nerd.
Nerdhan stays late with you in the library, asking for your guidance so he can improve and learn faster. And somehow, he learns dangerously fast. Over time, whenever you say something nice or compliment him, the tips of his ears always turn red.
Nerdhan comes back home a little too happy these days. Not that his mother minds it, but this happiness feels different. She knows exactly what it is...the unmistakable happiness of a new crush.
Nerdhan who adapts to new lessons ridiculously quickly, earning praise from teachers for being hardworking and talented but every single time someone praises him, it’s you he turns to first. A silent way of thanking you. His hand reaching slightly toward your side while you remain frozen, wondering if you’re reading too much into it.
Nerdhan slowly makes more friends with your help, and soon all of you start going out together, karaoke, arcades, casual hangouts after school. Everyone notices how he always sticks close to you, earning knowing giggles from the others but somehow, it’s okay. You don’t mind. Because being around Johan feels better.
Nerdhan finally decides to tell Mira about you, and she is absolutely thrilled for him. She immediately says she’ll bring Zack along and that Johan needs to bring you over for a study session. You end up meeting both Zack and Mira and learn far too many embarrassing things about Johan but when you laugh at all the stories, the sound of your laughter alone makes Johan’s heart flutter helplessly.
Nerdhan who slowly decides to take things one step at a time, though truthfully, he has absolutely no idea how to approach any of this properly. He keeps overthinking everything, imagining scenarios in his head. So one evening, after another long study session, he nervously asks if you’d like to come over and see his dogs. His neck stretches awkwardly, eyes darting everywhere except your face and honestly, who could say no to that? And when Eden and Miro meet you, they immediately know you’re the reason Johan has been coming home smiling like an idiot lately, instantly leaping onto you in approval.
Nerdhan sometimes withdraws because he starts wondering whether you even like him that way. He worries he’s crossing boundaries so he grows distant for a few days. And during one of those moments, you corner him and bluntly tell him you don’t like him acting like this and if something is bothering him, he should just tell you.
Nerdhan who is so caught off guard by that confrontation that he blurts everything out.That he gets nervous around you. That sometimes he worries he’s pushing too much.That he thinks about you in ways he probably shouldn’t. He rambles and stumbles over his words, saying everything he’s been desperately holding back…
And somehow it all ends with ...
“Because of all this… I wonder sometimes what it would feel like to kiss you…”
Nerdhan who immediately regrets saying that. Because now, surely you’ll reject him. And worse…Now the friendship is ruined too.
Nerdhan is completely caught off guard when, instead of rejecting him…
You kiss him.
Your hands fully grabbing his face as you crash your lips against his, and for one entire minute Johan’s brain simply stops functioning. And when the kiss finally breaks, you look at him and whisper —
“So now tell me, how did it feel? Kissing me?”
And then the two of you stand there awkwardly for exactly three seconds.
Before Johan, this time with far more confidence, cups your face gently and kisses you again. Nothing needs to be said.
Nerdhan now realizes that kissing you is dangerously addictive. Who learns that holding your hand somehow feels sweeter than anything else.
Nerdhan who is now yours.
