Fandom Friday
This omnibus actually contains three sets of comic issues (they call it classic, but, there were some older Xena comics too, but, I don’t think that they were put out by Dynamite and are very very hard to find these days). It has Contest of Pantheons, Dark Xena, and Strange Visitor.
Contest of Pantheons has Egyptian and Greek gods each picking a champion, and the Greek champion is quite surprising (but, not to worry, Xena is still involved in save the people of the world from all the fighting between the gods). In Dark Xena, we go back in time to before Contest of Pantheons and we see Gabrielle try and bring Xena back to life, and instead, Dark Xena is recreated. Finally, Strange Visitors is what it sounds like, aliens. I never thought that my favorite of the three would be Xena and aliens, but, it was a really fun story for sure. They all were, but, who can pass up Xena and aliens!

[PREVIEW] The Rocketeer: The Island #1 (February 25, 2025)
writer: Dave Stevens [story] and John Layman [script] | artist and cover artist: Jacob Edgar [pencils & inks] and Kike J. Díaz [colors] | publishing company: IDW Publishing
synopsis: The Rocketeer returns to save Amelia Earhart in a brand-new story by creator Dave Stevens!
The year is 1938, and Cliff Secord (A.K.A. the Rocketeer) is recruited to lead a search and rescue mission. The mission? Find Amelia Earhart! Considering a year has passed since the famous pilot went missing, the Rocketeer is hesitant at first — that is, until he learns the expedition is to the same island Betty ran off to with the scummy photographer Marco! The Rocketeer will have to uncover the secret of the century’s greatest mystery while trying to win back his girlfriend. But what else awaits him on the island?
Beloved writer John Layman (Chew, Titans) and artistic powerhouse Jacob Edgar (Plastic Man: No More, The Ones) team up to tell the wildest Rocketeer story ever, based on a never-published outline by Rocketeer creator Dave Stevens!
