And this has always been my thought: I never understood the usefulness of Diana Allers in the third chapter. 🤷🏻‍♀️ At least they could have developed her better! 🤔

7. What’s Shepard’s favorite way to let loose?

Cards, (only a few) drinks, and good friends, and he's content! He's not one for big, showy get-togethers, but the only time he's ever really relaxed is if someone's managed to wrangle him to a table or a couch with a game and a night of nothing to do but bullshit.

12. Who is Shepard’s favorite non-companion character? (Shiala, Chakwas etc)

Samantha! They were instant friends, and June's incredibly grateful that he has her to talk to, and that he can do the same for her - over a game of chess, or just hanging out in his cabin.

21. What companion quest did shepard enjoy the most? What was the most difficult one for them to do?

Enjoyed isn't the right word, but Jack's always felt the most...successful? He'd do any of them again in a heartbeat, but hers made an old wound a little cleaner, and he's proud to have been there with her. Most difficult was Samara's. Loves the woman to death - but where Jack's was about dealing with a long-scarred wound, Samara's seemed to him like making it worse before it could heal. And as necessary as it was, he still would rather not be in that position again.

25. How does Shepard react to meeting Javik, a real life prothean?

Honestly? He's interested, but...more in Javik as a crewmate than as a prothean. Growing up where he did, frankly, all aliens were frikken weird at some point, and he's still not sure he can tell when Javik and Garrus are making fun of him, but the prothean part kind of. Slips past him half the time. Until something smacks him upside the head with it.

“I grew up thinking, ‘I want to be like her!’ I wanted to be a soldier. A hero. I never knew this was what it meant. That I would lose the people I love. They told so many stories about how she was brave… but they forgot about all the times she was afraid. She was afraid, wasn’t she?”

SAM took to an unusual pause. The silence was almost unbearable.

“According to the Nexus’ archived lexicon, ‘bravery’ is a condition of fearlessness.”

Sara bowed her head, sinking lower in defeat.

“However, I disagree,” SAM cut in. “In my time with you, I have seen you commit acts of ‘bravery,’ Sara. You did them when you feared for your friends and the ones you loved. You triumphed in Meridian precisely when you feared for your brother’s life. You acted when supposedly ‘all hope was lost.”

She lifted her head from her hands, turning as if to a friend.

“I cannot comment on Commander Shepard as I did not know her,” he continued. “But bravery seems to only have meaning when one is afraid. If Commander Shepard was as loved as you are, then she had many reasons to be afraid.”

Alrighty. Evangeline:

Her best friend? She’s so close with everyone, but I’d have to say Garrus. She said to him once that she would lay down her life for her people and their cause and he never exactly doubted it, but things don’t always turn out that way. When she literally DID THAT, and then turned around and came back from the dead, he responded with unquestioning loyalty. He had her back when so many turned her away or gave her the ‘too busy with xyz’ speech and even Tali was weighing up whether she could be trusted. He never ever questioned her once because he just KNEW it was her, and that she’d do it again 1000 times to see her friends safe and the reapers destroyed. And this is why their romance is so strong - they are literally best friends, they have this bond between them that words can’t even begin to describe or define, they can look at each other and read 100 thoughts and feelings from their eyes and I just love that. ;-; Immediately after the reapers are destroyed, Garrus decides the alliance is taking too damn long to search for her, so he steals one of their shuttles and goes on his own to find her. And she’s ALIVE :D I haven’t decided the whole entire ending for them, but she’ll definitely be promoted and passed around a lot as a training assessor, both for the N7 program, and the spectres, as Nihlus was supposed to be. She’s DEFINITELY going to turn down the chance to replace Udina because ugh. No.

Mercedes:

Her best friend is definitely Jack. Mercedes is an ass-kicking machine and she’s not afraid to push the limits. She knows she’s valuable to the alliance and uses that to do some questionable things and break a few rules. Jack thinks its badass that her response to the alliance’s rejection and coverups is to pose for the front page of Fornax. They spend a lot of quality time together during ME3 - Mercy uses her tech skills to disarm the smoke detector in the engineering sub level and they happily sit down there modding weapons, talking shit, smoking cigars, drinking and even having some x rated fun. Interestingly enough, Mercy is also VERY close with Miranda. o.o She had flings with WAAAAY too many people to count, but she finally ended up settling with James. They are so amazing together - he kind of mellows her crazy fiery spirit and she pushes back with burning passion. And sometimes Jack joins in the fun because they’re all very close friends here. :D Post destroy, she’s in a coma for about 2 months and has a long road of recovery ahead, but of course her friends visit and they get up to the usual shenanigans. She’s also promoted, but she ends up focussing more on her position with the spectres in the end. :]June:Kasumi is her best friend - they just have SO much in common like the love of the smell of old books. June has a taste for the ‘finer things in life’ and they often spend time together chatting and having freshly brewed (decent) coffee or baking or something like that. She also spends a lot of time with Chakwas, since she is a trained medic and is often in and out of the med bay. June romanced Liara right from the start <3 Unfortunately for June she chose synthesis, but her legacy lives on in their little blue daughter, Amelia. Unbeknownst to Liara, June had Javik swear that he would keep Liara safe and he ends up taking on a weird adopted father role for Amelia (and having a weird love/hate friendship with Aethyta) and EVENTUALLY ending up with Liara because I can’t let my blue child be alone.

Sage:

Sage is very close friends with Traynor and EDI - they play chess a ton. She’s constantly working on upgrading her rifle, so she also spends a lot of time over the years with Garrus, Thane, Legion and Ashley. She romanced Kaidan in ME1 but after his response to seeing her on Horizon, she fell into depression - Thane helped her out of that, healed her, and brought new love into her life. She had a lot of soul searching coming to terms with the fact she loved both men - Thane was accepting, understanding and agreeable to it but Kaidan stayed away. It wasn’t until after Thane’s death that Kaidan decided he’d been a colossal dick and decided their relationship was worth working on. Sadly, Sage did just barely survive the destruction of the reapers, and made it back to Earth under her own sheer force of will…but died within moments of being reunited with Kaidan. :[

there’s not a lot I have nailed down for June yet (because I’ve been focusing on Casey whoops)

But I can tell you. Somewhere between the citadel dlc and the end fight (or well after?? Still working on their timeline), he asks vega for some recommendations, and goes and gets a tattoo, blue and purple, swirly and sharp. And it’s a thing. And June being June tells no one because he’s just. Like That.
