Recieved my Rune Factory Guardians Of Azuma on Friday and I'm having tons of fun, but as usual, I have ✨opinions✨
PROS ; The general aesthetic is so pleasing, the characters are absolutely brilliant and stunning (even the ones I thought would be boring), I'm obsessed with town building so it feels like the game was made for me specifically, the voice actors are hilarious (j michael tatum, my love), I'm very appreciative of the simplified farming and crafting.
CONS ; my GOD the controls are slippery! I'm so tired of games where the character climbs up onto tables and chairs without my intending to! The FMCs clothing designs aren't bad but I'm wearing her default swimsuit because her normal outfit is so overwhelming and has too many pieces in the way.
I'm not sure how controversial this one is going to be, spoilers under the cut;
I absolutely DESPISE how we're railroaded into having a prior relationship with the opposite gender character. The fact that he still exists at all when I picked the female player character for a reason is already a resounding "eh, whatever," from me, but I just got to the third Astral Shrine, and I'm so baffled by this storyline choice? I get that they intend for you to play as Kaguya as her own character, but I still feel so uncomfortable, especially since I just confessed feelings for Kurama.
Anyway, that's really my only major gripe with GoA, otherwise I'm actually so excited be playing something so relevant to my interests!
I'm on my 3rd day of Fantasy Life i, and as usual, I have ✨opinions ✨
PROS ; Goddamn near everything!! It's like they took all the cumulative years of game development and picked all the really cool shit to put in one game. I know some people will probably gripe about the similarities to ACNH, but this is Level 5's thing from back in the early 2000s, and they are back to prove they are the kings of worldbuilding games!
CONS ; No big bounty boxes that follow behind you is kind of sad, not a fan of my character not being gendered, the shut down of Level 5's American offices means even the North American release has to use the PAL version of character names and terminology (Flutter instead of Butterfly, Cherry Instead of Poppy, etc.)
Overall I'm having a very grand time and I intend to enjoy this for as long as possible. I have over 300 hours in the original and I'm so excited to see how much I can get out of the second one!
My mom and I finished the Series Of Unfortunate Events on Netflix last night.
I read all 13 books a long time ago, but besides the movie (she doesn't remember), this experience was entirely new for her.
Okay, not entirely; we watched all the way to the end of The Grim Grotto a few years back, but something stopped us from finishing the series.
So a few weeks ago, we started from the beginning again, and watched all the way through to the end this time.
Stream of consciousness 🎇opinions🎇, incoming, in no particular order.
I am just as devastated as when I read them all those years ago, my mom and I both started crying at the end of Penultimate Peril and didn't stop even after The End.
I can definitely feel where the series influenced my personality as a child, especially since I discovered them when a teacher played us the Reptile Room audio book.
I think the last three major deaths were the first major heartbreaking moments of my childhood, every time I think about literary deaths I think about Dewey, Kit, and Olaf first, above any other heartbreaking literary deaths I've been through.
My mom's favorite characters are the Henchperson Of Indeterminate Gender and Carmelita Spats, the full spectrum of comedy styles.
I have no excuses for the fact that Count Olaf was my favorite character, even as a kid, and the casting of NPH didn't help as an adult. In fact, I blame this series for my taste in (fictional) skinny, mean men.
The whole cast did an incredible job, I have too many favorites to list here, but especially Usman Ally for making me fall for Fernald, and Kitana Turnbull for being wildly out of her mind in a delightful way (especially on the submarine!)
I'll interview my mom for her opinion later, but every few minutes she asks me another good question, I wish there was more for us to enjoy, but she wants to watch the movie again, too, so there's always that.
I'm currently reading some webcomics recommendations and I'm trying to catch up quickly so I can post my possibly very terrible opinions, here's where I'm at so far;
Caught Up With ; Feast For A King, Sleepless Domain
Currently Reading ; Unsounded
Read But Not Caught Up ; Kill Six Billion Demons, Namesake, Paranatural, Stand Still Stay Silent, Tiger Tiger, and Soul To Call.
Complete Work I've Finished ; Digger
I'm willing to add more, but be warned, I will reject works for arbitrary reasons such as not liking the art.
EDIT ; New additions to the list ; Nevermore, Phantomarine, Clown Corps, Bybloemen, Vainglorious, For The Sake Of Sita, White Noise
Yes, I am about to obliterate you with art and gifs.
In my defense, Netflix shouldn't have cast a man with big ol' blue puppy-dog eyes and let him say a lot of cuss words, two of my three weaknesses the third being long hair please please please make it to Impel Down I'm begging
On a whim I decided to start reading Undead Unluck and I'm falling apart I'm already so in love I'd fucking die for Fuuko and Andy but also why does everyone single manga have to have one character I viscerally hate? To pieces?!
Anyway I'm only on chapter 30 I can't wait to see how this escalates.
Besides Allen, Lenalee Lavi, and Kanda, I'm very attached to Miranda and Krory and consider them to be main characters as well.
Yeah, it's been years, but I genuinely, seriously thought they were considered the main 6, especially after everything they went through during the Ark arc, and it was really very weird to discover that not everyone includes Miranda and Krory.
I mean, they even consistently place in the top 10 characters every time a poll is held! Miranda even placed 5th in the last one! Even above Road and Tyki! The top six were Kanda, Allen, Lavi, Lenalee, Miranda, and Krory in that order!
I don't care how long it's been since we've seen some of them, D.gray-man has 6 main characters!
I know it's not as good as most art for this fandom (or any fandom), but I really wanted to make something for myself to represent One Piece in my life!
It's the flags of my four favorite crews in Acrylic paint! The Strawhats, the Kidd Pirates, the Heart Pirates, and the Barto Club! I know they're pretty sloppy but they mean a lot to me. I did the from easiest to most difficult (Heart,Barto, Strawhats, Kidd) but Strawhats ended up the hardest after all, as you can tell by the gross black cover up.
If I can scrounge up more supplies I might do four more, but I'm not sure what other crews I like enough unless I use the individual flags of other strawhat members.
Any it took about 7 hours because it was my first experience with Acrylic!
