imagine huxley coming to pick up damien from a night out with lasko and freelancer. gavin and dear come get them both ofc. huxley's driving and damien's in the backseat complaining about wanting to go home and cuddle while huxley is trying his best not to laugh at his very distraught, very drunk boyfriend.
huxley manages to get him inside and changed into pyjamas (all while damien is basically trying to climb underneath his skin)
they're in bed together, cuddling at damien's demand, after huxley forces him to take painkillers. damien is just being a clingy mess.
"kiss me. again. again. again. again. a-" "damien, go to sleep."
darlin' getting attacked by quinn while they're taking a late night stroll. he escaped his department cell somehow. they take him down but they're fatally wounded. blood everywhere, bones broken and fractured in every place imaginable and more. it's so bad that when the pack gets there and finds them laying in the grass, asher literally throws up. marie is on her way but sam and david are trying to help. it would never have been enough. david, sam, milo, and asher are just sitting over them, begging them to keep their eyes open.
"i took him down, sammy. all by myself..." they whisper, eyes focusing and unfocusing as they try to remain conscious.
"hell yeah you did, darlin'. tore his head clean off," sam responds, equally as quiet, "you did so damn good."
marie shows up then. and sam would never get the sound of his darlin's screams and cries while marie was healing them out of his head. or how they went deathly still when she was done.
they js fell asleep from the magic, it's okay i wouldn't kill them off (or would i?)
(bonus !!)
imagine darlin' waking up days later, still looping on all the healing magic in their system and they're just being sappy and giggly with sam. picture those "partner under anaesthesia" videos.
i wrote this a while back (months ago lol) but i'm just now getting around to editing and posting it since i've been semi-active on tumblr these days
cw - lighthearted argument between damien and lasko, fake hostility, gavin being whipped for freelancer
wc - 1.1k
Lasko huffs, “Stop making fun of me, asshole.”
“It's not my fault. For a teacher, you're stupid." Damien clicks his tongue.
“W-well you’re just being absurd!”
“I’m being absurd? I’m being absurd?!”
“Yes, you are!”
Huxley groans into a throw pillow, collapsing back against the couch, “Where is Rainshower when you need them?”
“Off doing their teacher duties. They're helping Freelancer with water control or.. something back at D.A.M.N.” Gavin hums, not even paying attention to them both as he goes through his phone absentmindedly. He was mostly thinking about when the Freelancer was coming back and waiting until he could feel their familiar aura again.
They had both left before the boys arrived at the apartment. It was supposed to be their lazy Saturday morning before their hangout and Gavin was seconds from falling back asleep on their chest before they’d gotten a phone call from Dear.
The conversation was quiet and mundane enough for Gavin to ignore it and let his breathing even out until his Freelancer sat up at the end of it.
Of course, Gavin protested, as much as he could while being half-asleep at least— but they’d still gotten away from him.
“I gotta get up, Gav.” They’d hummed quietly as they ruffled his hair
“Nuh uhh.. ‘re not goin’ anywhere.” Gavin’s sleep-addled voice called out, clinging tightly onto their shirt with his eyes still closed.
"Yuh huh, Lasko's partner is helping me out with my water magic."
They’d slipped out from under him pretty easily and Gavin rolled over to glare at them. When they kissed him softly with a little smile playing on their lips, he’d kissed them back out of instinct (and when did he not want to kiss his love?) and then they slipped out of bed—away from his arms
Gavin had whined and pouted and used his very effective persuasion skills but apparently, last-minute practice before an exam was more important than his happiness.
"I love you, I'll be back in a little bit."
Gavin huffs and opens his eyes then, his hair pretty much blocking his entire view of them.
Freelancer laughs and kisses his forehead, "Relax, clingy, it's only like two hours. You don't want me to fail do you?"
"Do it tomorrow.." Gavin whines, reaching out to hold onto them so they couldn't leave but they escaped him again, blowing him a kiss and telling him to go back to sleep. Which he did, begrudgingly.
And now he's here trying his best not to sulk, wallowing in the feeling of half-hollowness that always came with being apart from his Deviant. He should be put off by that feeling, the feeling of missing a part of himself when they’re not near should scare or annoy him. But he can’t find it in himself to care much when his person is still gone.
“Lasko, you fatherless freak, would you just listen to me?!”
“Me?! Damien you hypocritical piece of shit-”
Gavin is startled out of his thoughts by the laugh that leaves his body, his hand coming up to cover his mouth. Huxley groans even louder then, his hand covering his face “Why is this happening to me..”
“That was so uncalled for,” Gavin says still laughing but about to try and futilely console Huxley when his phone chimes with a notification.
freelancer ❤️
hey gav
we're like five minutes away, we got snacks
He perks up, not bothering to be embarrassed about the wide smile spreading across his face.
me
hurry back i miss you
freelancer ❤️
just be patient you baby
“Okay!” Damien groans and looks over at Gavin and Huxley on the couch in exasperation, “I think we need a second opinion-“
Lasko huffs, “I think you need a sedative-"
Damien looked as if he was about to slap him, “Shut up! Guys, tell Lasko that-“ Damien cuts himself off when he glances at Gavin smiling like an idiot at his phone, “What on Earth are you smiling about over there?”
At those words, Gavin looked up and his face returned to normal but it was already too late—Huxley and Lasko had also seen the lovesick grin on his face while he was looking at his phone.
He was done for.
Huxley’s signature smile was back on his face when it clicked in his brain, “Aww, were you texting Freelancer? You look so happy!”
Lasko holds his breath to keep from laughing at Gavin’s reddening face but it only made him laugh harder.
“It’s sickening is what it is.” Damien snorts leaning against the couch, crossing his arms, “Did they send you a sappy message about how much they miss you and wanna kiss your stupid face?”
“Did you respond with a ‘I miss you baby’?” Huxley laughs and his voice goes up an octave at the last phrase
“Did you add a bunch of sickly sweet emojis at the end?” Lasko chimes in between his laughter
“Did you add a bunch of sickly sweet nicknames too?”
“Shut up,” Gavin groans lightheartedly, sitting up as he scratches the back of his neck, “You guys are annoying. And hypocrites. Did you forget I'm a demon?” He smiles sweetly.
That gets Damien and Lasko to shut up, suddenly averting the other two's gazes
At that moment, Freelancer is heard opening the front door and calling out.
“We're back!”
“Thank god,” Lasko whispers in a completely different tone than Gavin does.
By the time any of them look back up, Gavin was gone to the doorway as well.
“Whipped,” Huxley snorts.
“Says you,” Lasko chimes in softly, looking back at his phone.
Damien huffs, “Says you. Didn’t you cry for three hours after you and-“
Lasko shoots a gust of wind at a sheet of paper on the coffee table to fly into Damien’s face. He responds by setting the sheet on fire, raising an eyebrow at the air-elemental.
“Shut your mouth, Damien, I’ll suffocate you,” Lasko glares.
Damien rolls his eyes and gets up to sit next to Huxley again, “Yeah, as if, air elemental who's scared of heights.”
“Says the guy who's half French and can’t even speak the language.”
Damien looks as if he would get up again to start another less verbal fight but Dear is now standing in the doorway, clearing their throat.
They raise an eyebrow, "What are you two fighting about this time?"
And the two of them immediately jump back into yelling over each other, ranting about some stupid move Damien loved and Lasko thought was absolute ass.
Huxley shakes his head and wraps an arm around his boyfriend with a smile, keeping Damien trapped at his side while Dear tries to mediate like an exhausted parent.
Outside in the doorway of the apartment, Gavin has his arms wrapped around Freelancer's waist, theirs around his neck. He sighs happily, feeling tension bleed from his body at finally having his lover back in his arms. Safe and happy.

STILL MAD AT ME, SWEETHEART? - MILO GREER/SWEETHEART
i said i'd write a fanfic from @stupd000 's post milo “you still mad at me?” greer sooo here it is. this is more of a drabble though 😭
(this one's for you @annahxredaxted 🫵)
cw - aftermath of an argument, snippet of the argument as well, tooth-rotting fluff, milo being milo
wc - 0.5k
Sweetheart rouses back to the waking world to the feeling of a hand cupping their cheek. Their eyes squeeze together before they flutter open slightly to see Milo standing in front of them.
"Sweetheart... hey," He whispers, an ever-present smile on his face.
They hum, closing their eyes again, "Good morning.."
Milo grins even wider, "Good morning. Sleep well?"
Sweetheart makes a noncommittal noise and they shift away from the edge of the bed, patting the pillow Milo would've been sleeping on had he not been on an overnight security gig.
Milo doesn't hesitate to slide into bed with his mate, having already changed into pyjamas. He doesn't move to hold onto them as he usually would, trying to tread carefully after last night's argument.
Milo sighs into the phone, "Listen to me, Sweetheart, it's literally not that big of a deal."
Sweetheart's voice comes in frustrated, "Yes it is, asshole. You always do this."
Milo scoffs, "No, it's not and I do not."
Sweetheart groans, "Yes it is. And you always say you don't."
"I do not!"
"You do! You don't have to cover for everyone all the time."
"Damn hypocrite. Seriously, do you hear yourself speak sometimes?"
They huff, "This isn't fucking about me, Milo. I'm just asking you to relax. This is the fifth time."
He raises an eyebrow, "And when I tell you to do the same thing, I'm in the wrong?"
"That's different-"
Milo laughs humorlessly, "It's fucking not, Sweetheart, and you know it. Stop acting high and mighty and go to sleep already," He raises his voice slightly against his better judgement, "You're being so difficult."
Sweetheart goes quiet for a moment on the other line.
Asher gives Milo a worried look, going to open his mouth when Milo waves him off.
"You're so damn annoying, Milo, you know that?" Sweetheart grumbles.
Milo sighs again, "Yeah, I know, you too. I'm sorry, I didn't mean that."
They breathe a hollow laugh, "I know. I don't wanna fight on the phone. Come home safely, okay?"
"Okay. I love you."
"I love you too."
However, Sweetheart reaches over to wrap their arms around him, their eyes still closed.
"You're so damn far.." They pout.
Milo hums, a smile still playing on his lips as he wraps his arms around their waist, "My bad, baby. You still mad at me?"
Sweetheart opens their eyes to look at their mate.
He looks beautiful, as he always does. The sun that filters through the curtains settles on his face and reflects off his eyes, making him look angelic. And his hair is messy from how he continuously runs his hands through it when he doesn't sleep enough. Even with the subtle bags under his eyes, he looks gorgeous. As much as Milo loves getting dressed up to the nines, Sweetheart has a special appreciation for a less put-together Milo. A Milo that's a little more comfortable breaking down and being vulnerable. A Milo that only they get to see.
"Furious..." they whisper even as they get lost in his eyes.
Still, Milo laughs, leaning forward to kiss their forehead, "I'll make it up to you, I promise."
"Just keep your ass in bed," Sweetheart says as they snuggle closer to him, pressing their face into his chest.
"Ohhh yeah?" He smirks, "What are we gonna do in bed, huh-?"
"Go to sleep, Greer."

“You’re going to be a star.”
Lovely’s been told that close to a billion times in their life. It used to make them really happy when they were a kid. They’d grin up at their mom when she would tell them about all the awesome movies and TV shows they would act in once they were older. They’d practice in front of a mirror for hours at a time, reciting the few lines they were expected to memorise as a little eight-year-old. Even at that age, they wanted more. More lines, more chances to prove themselves worthy of the big screen, more of the spotlight. They only wanted to shine as bright as possible, to make their family proud.
“You’re a star.”
It feels egotistical to them, to say that they’re a star. But it would be completely ignorant of them to pretend they hadn’t made it far. Getting recognized every time they stepped foot outside, having people stand in line for autographs, people using their name and face for school projects, and not to mention, getting thousands of dollars just to say the name of a brand. As much as it warmed their heart, it got to be quite disorienting at times. To think that they went from being a complete nobody outside of their school plays and small commercials to being so… well known.
It was also really privacy-invading. Paparazzi was going to be the death of them.
But that’s the price I pay, Lovely muses to themselves as they try their best to breeze past the flashing lights and cameras being shoved in their face while they try to walk into the studio.
“..they could be a little less obnoxious about it though. Can’t believe this shit’s legal.”
Lovely looks up and squints to regain steady vision from nearly being blinded. Belatedly, they snort when they see Darlin glaring at the door they had just walked through.
“Yeah,” They say breathlessly, slipping their jacket off.
Darlin pats them on the head, “You need anything before they call you in? They said in about half an hour.”
Lovely leans into their hand, “‘M okay. I’ll just play games on my phone. Did Sam go in already for Daniel?”
The (slightly) taller of the two nods and gently leads Lovely over to a few seats in a slightly secluded area, “He should be done a little while though. I already went so do you want us to wait with you before you go in? We can take you home.”
Lovely was tempted to say no, say that they don’t need to look after them. They wanted to say that they weren’t a baby (even though they were significantly younger than both Darlin and Sam) who needed to be coddled.
But when Darlin guides them to sit down, fixing their hair, they only exhale softly. As long as they don’t need to call an Uber.
“Yes please. If it’s not too much trouble.”
Darlin grins, “Never for you, spark.”
Lovely huffs and pouts up at them, “Don’t call me that, weirdo.”
They only laugh and sit next to Lovely, sliding their phone out of their back pocket.
They rest their head on Darlin’s shoulder, going to scroll on their own phone to kill time.
✩★✩★✩
Lovely inhales sharply when their name is called out along with someone else. They clear their throat, and stand up, “Wish me luck, I guess.”
It shouldn’t still make them so nervous to do auditions after doing so many of them in their life. And it usually doesn’t. However, not only was this film one of the bigger ones they were called in to audition for, their agent said this one was right up their alley. And after they read the summary and script, they agreed. This one was perfect for them. The character Kaia was perfect for them. They wanted this role more than they’ve wanted any role in their life.
The male lead Lucas also happened to be their ideal type but that was neither here nor there.
“Good luck,” Sam flashes them a smile, “This is easy work for you.”
Darlin nods, “Don’t stress, you’ve got this in the bag.”
But what if someone better comes around?
Lovely leaves that unsaid, now was not the time to be insecure. They needed to have confidence.
But really they couldn’t help themselves, they read a couple hate comments too. Of course, they tried to tell themselves that the positive outweighs the negative and that the good comments were always so much more detailed and substantial than just “they’re not pretty”.
They take a deep breath and nod once, hardly noticing the other actor who stood up at the same time, walking back into the audition room. They smile back at Sam and Darlin before turning around.
They’re a star.
✩★✩★✩
Lovely walks slowly into the backroom where the auditions were being held, seeing only one other person standing around the door. They were so stuck in their own head about the person they would be acting with that they failed to notice the person they would be acting with.
They’re going over their lines in their head as they step into the hallway, reminding themselves to breathe when a voice knocks them out of their train of thought.
“So, you’re my Kaia.”
Lovely’s face prematurely scrunches in disgust before they even turn to look at whoever this guy was, not registering his tone and utterly annoyed they had to act with one of those guys. Again. They’ve worked with people like him before, revolting middle-aged men who only looked younger and thought it was okay to touch and sleazily flirt with their young co-star because they played love interests. Every other film they’ve acted in since they were 18. They were sick and tired and really wanted to enjoy this one so they turned to face this supposed middle-aged man so they could tell him off and set some boundaries.
However, they were met with the most handsome face they’ve ever seen in their life. He was smiling, not smirking, at them, his eyes shimmered even in the bright fluorescent lights, and his face looked sculpted by the gods. Lovely couldn’t help but let their eyes trail further down, scanning his body that they could somehow tell was just perfect underneath his hoodie and baggy jeans.
He laughs and—holy shit, Lovely thinks they’ve died and gone to heaven, he was so beautiful. Lovely snaps out of their little trance and meets his eyes properly, his beautiful brown eyes, when it clicks.
Oh my god, this is Vincent Solaire.
They also hadn’t known him personally, they acted in very different genres. They hadn’t even been a fan, per say. But he was just as well-known as they were. William Solaire, his father and agent, was a director they had worked under and that was one of their favourites.
Lovely inhales when Vincent brushes his hair out of his face.
“I would say you match Kaia’s description perfectly but.. I think you’re better.”
“Oh yeah?” Lovely laughs breathily, “Do you flatter all of your co-stars like this, or am I special?”
Vincent looks them up and down slightly and Lovely swears he looks at their lips, “You’re definitely.. special, Lovely was it?”
They nod, “Vincent?”
“In the flesh,” He grins.
Lovely smiles back, not having it in them to feel ashamed at the blush spreading across their face, only because he was blushing too.
“You don’t usually act in rom-coms,” Lovely hums, leaning back against the wall, “Why this one?”
Vincent’s grin widens, “You keep tabs on what I act in?”
Lovely shrugs, “I mean you’re not a nobody, I’ve seen you around. And where you are, Sam is. Gotta support my best friend’s man, you know?”
Vincent breathes a laugh, “Ah, that’s right. You’re Darlin’s twin flame.”
“In the flesh,” They repeat with a matching smile.
Vincent scoffs playfully, “Copy cat.”
Lovely snorts.
“Well,” Vincent continues, “I just wanted to try something new, you know? You can only act in thrillers and shit like that for so long before you need to switch it up to something more lighthearted.” He says, still smiling.
Lovely senses that wasn’t the whole truth but they nod, “I see. I’ve only acted in a handful of horror movies but I get it. They’re a little draining.”
“Oh yeah, you were in Locked Down.” He recalls, “I love that movie, you were phenomenal in it. Your acting was so realistic.”
Lovely smiles slightly, they always got a little sheepish whenever they got praised for their acting or any skill at all. You’d think they’d be used to it by now.
“Yeah well,” They clear their throat, “Screaming so much made my head hurt for days so I would hope it was good.”
Vincent laughs a bit hesitantly, “I’d say it paid off.”
Lovely laughs as well, going to say something else but the door in front of them swings open a little. They glance over only to freeze at the familiar face of Angel Shaw themselves standing in front of them.
Not familiar on a personal level, of course not. Lovely had never met them personally, but they and their husband were some of the most famous actors turned directors in North America. Lovely grew up watching Angel on TV and they were part of the reason Lovely even wanted to act in the first place. But even as they rose in popularity, Lovely always admired Angel and David and any film they directed. It was another recent dream of theirs to act under them, and this was their chance.
Angel looks at the two actors standing around the door and they smile, stepping out to show their full body, “Good morning, you two! Good to see you again, Vincent. We’ll be right with you both in a moment.” They turn to look at Lovely specifically, “Hi, there. I know we talked over the phone once and I’ve spoken with your agent but it’s nice to see you in person.”
You wouldn’t believe how happy I am right now, Lovely cried internally, trying to hide the star struck look on their face.
They clear their throat, “I-It’s nice to see you too. I’m a really big fan of your and David’s work.”
Angel laughs softly, “Why, thank you! That means a lot. We also enjoy watching you act, it’s truly beautiful.”
Lovely nearly died on the spot and they prayed to whatever god was listening that it didn’t show on their face. They barely squeak out a ‘thank you’ before Angel settles back into their professionalism.
They look at their clipboard, “So, you’ve both been called in to play the main characters and love interests Kaia and Lucas obviously. This “audition” is mainly just to see how well you two act together. Your chemistry, if you will. You’ll have like five-ish minutes to talk with each other and introduce yourselves and then we’ll start, okay?”
They both nod and Angel looks back up.
“Okay!” They smile and peer back into the room, “David? Are we good to go?”
“Yeah, send ‘em in.”
Angel nods towards the inside of the room, “Come on in then.”
Lovely dazedly steps into the room.
The room was bigger than it looked from the outside. There was a long table with six seats, four of which were occupied, the one to the right of David Shaw was empty, Lovely assumes that’s Angel's seat.
Angel points to the small table, “You guys can sit over there and get to know each other a little better and we’ll call you over, alright?”
Lovely and Vincent both nod and step in sync over to the corner. They both sit down and smile at each other.
“So Vincent, where are you from?” Lovely asks.
Vincent grins, “Well, I think it’s common knowledge that I was adopted by William when I was 10. But my birth parents were Korean and so were most of my foster parents until William adopted me.”
Lovely’s eyes light up, “Oh same!” They pause with a small laugh, “Not that- not that I was adopted but my parents are both Korean immigrants.”
Vincent laughs as well, “Really? Do you speak Korean then?”
Lovely’s nose scrunches, “I’m like- fairly fluent. I’m not as well-spoken as I am in English. My dad dogs on me for it all the time. You?”
“God, I have the speaking ability of a fourth grader.” Vincent scoffs, “Obviously, since I was adopted at 10 by a non-Korean man, my Korean just stopped ageing with me once I stopped putting in effort.”
They nod with a smile, “I get it. Have you tried learning more now that you’re an adult?”
“Not really? I think I tried a couple times when I turned 21 but I got impatient. But hey, maybe you could teach me,” Vincent tilts his head to the side, smiling at them.
Lovely stops breathing as they glance down at his lips.
“Yeah… I could.”
They blink when Vincent laughs, focusing back on his eyes.
“Mesmerized, Lovely?” He hums, beaming from ear to ear.
Lovely scoffs playfully, “You wish, pretty boy.”
“Think I’m pretty, huh?”
“Yeah well,” They smile a little more shyly, “I’m not blind.”
They delight in seeing the slight pink tint that spreads across Vincent’s cheeks.
He grins slightly, returning the small glance down at Lovely’s lips, “Yeah? I think you’re pretty too. Gorgeous, even.”
Lovely breathes a short flustered laugh, “Jeez, is this a part of the script? This is a lot of flattery for getting to know my co-star for an audition.”
Vincent laughs a little louder, “I’m only getting into character, of course. My Kaia.” He reaches over to gently hold Lovely’s hand laying on the table.
And Lovely feels their entire stomach light up brighter than a Fourth of July night. They swallow, forcing themselves to keep their breathing stable. They sigh shakily, “Yeah…”
Neither of them realize how long they’ve been looking into each other’s eyes until David’s voice calls from the other side of the room.
“We’re ready to get started, you two. Are you ready?”
Neither of them flinch. Not at all.
Vincent looks away first and gently drops Lovely’s hand, nodding at the directors. The two stand and walk over to stand in front of the table.
“Alright,” Angel looks up from the papers in front of them and smiles, “You can start whenever you’re ready.”
Vincent and Lovely both nod at the directors and then at each other, settling themselves into their roles. By the light waltz music starts playing softly in the background, they are both fully immersed into another world.
Vincent smiles completely poised in a way that is unlike earlier, holding his hand out towards Lovely, “Kaia. I’ve heard a lot about you from your father.”
Lovely grins back at him hesitantly, taking his hand, “That so? Lucas, is it?”
He hums as he pulls them into a slow dance of swaying back and forth, holding onto their waist loosely with his free hand, “That’s me. Prince of the House of Solaire.”
Lovely rests their right hand on Vincent’s shoulder, “Not the typical name for a royal, hm? I saw a picture of you and assumed James or Alexander.”
Vincent laughs.
✩★✩★✩
David leans over to whisper in Angel’s ear as the other casting directors spoke to the two, “They’re really good at this. I could hardly tell they were reading off a script.”
Angel snorts, tapping their pen against their paper, “Uh huh.”
He furrows his brows, “What, you don’t think they’re good?”
“No, no, not that. They’re wonderful,” Angel shakes their head with a laugh, “They’re just uhh- it feels like a little more than acting, no?”
David shrugs with a small smile, “I don’t know, Angel, maybe they’re just good at their job.”
“Right.” They roll their eyes, “And they were eye-fucking over there without the script for fun.”
“You shouldn’t speak about your actors like that, Angel.” David breathes a laugh, “And you know how insane actors are these days when it comes to getting into character. Remember Milo and the FBI Agent Incident?”
Angel stifles a louder laugh, “Oh god. They weren’t even using real guns for the shoot, he didn’t need to go to a shooting range everyday for a month.”
David bites his tongue with a grin, turning back to the two once Babe had finished speaking. He writes something down on his sheet of paper, “That was great guys, thank you so much. That’ll be it. We’ll get back to you in the next week.”
Angel bids the two goodbye and rests their head on David’s shoulder once they’re out of the room, looking down at his papers and snorting, “Didn’t need any time to think about it, huh?
David shakes his head, “God, no. They’ve had the job since they walked in here.”
✩★✩★✩
Vincent holds the door open for Lovely as they leave, to which they snort.
“Thanks, prince charming.” They pat his shoulder playfully.
He laughs and closes it behind him. Lovely jerks their head to the side to indicate Vincent follow them back to the main part of the building with a confidence they did not feel.
Vincent sticks his hands in his pockets, “Not to sound too proud, but I think we nailed that.”
“Obviously,” Lovely nods with a smile,”You could have looked at my lips a little less though.”
His eyes scrunch up into those little half-moons again to emphasize his amusement, “Well, who could blame me? They’re very nice to look at.”
Lovely raises an eyebrow, stopping once they reach the end-of-hallway door, “Only to look at?”
Vincent, once again, glances down at their lips as they spin around to face him whilst leaning against the door. He breathes a barely there ghost of a laugh, “Maybe more. Who knows?”
Lovely can’t contain the wide smile that overtakes their features, squeezing a fist behind their back to attempt to contain their excitement. Vincent looks back up at their eyes after a moment, shifting back into focus.
His head tilts slightly and he smiles sincerely, “You have beautiful eyes, Lovely.”
How they didn’t collapse right then and there, they’ll never know. Feeling crimson creeping onto their cheeks, Lovely laughs lightly and scratches their nose.
They had never been able to take praise of any kind without feeling like their entire body was on fire. They always laughed the compliment off or redirected it out of pure embarrassment. Recently, that is. Being in the spotlight so often since the age of 17 had indirectly forced them to be better at accepting the praise. Being ‘The Star of the Big Screen’ meant being continuously lauded all over the internet and often to their face during interviews or fan-meetings. They had spent so many hours in their bedroom, in cars, or in hotel rooms practicing their “poker face” and willing themself to never show a single person outside of their close circle how much a little praise flustered them.
The way Vincent spoke to them undid all of that. The tone of his voice, his gaze, his fucking confidence. If their body was on fire when it came to anyone else, he made them feel like they had just been thrown into a volcano.
And they could only thank whoever was listening that their days of tripping over their feet, choking, or sometimes straight up running away were over. The only thing that would be more humiliating than being complimented by the most beautiful person they’ve ever seen would be fumbling themself in front of him.
Shaking off their inner-monologue, they grin at him again, “Thank you. All the compliments today, are you sure this is still ‘getting into character’?”
“Of course, I have to really step into Lucas’ shoes.”
“Uh huh,” Lovely shakes their head with a laugh, “Sure.”
“Really! In fact, I’ll do the most Lucas thing ever and ask for your number!” He grins again, reaching into his back pocket for his phone.
They stare at him with barely concealed mirth, “The most Lucas thing ever? Really?”
“Nah,” He snorts, unlocking his phone, “It’s a Vincent thing for sure.”
Lovely doesn’t think their heart is supposed to skip that many beats but they chuckle and accept the phone offered to them, typing in their number quickly.
“Thank you kindly,” Vincent says, taking his phone back. Lovely hums and leans off the door, swinging it open and stepping in time with Vincent back to the entrance.
They both wave to Sam and Darlin’ still sitting there in the corner. Sam stops talking when he sees the two of them, waving back and the two stand up.
“Hey.” Darlin says, stretching their arms, “How’d it go?”
Lovely and Vincent exchange a short look.
“Good,” They both say at the same time, sharing a smile.
Sam raises an intrigued eyebrow but he smiles back, “That’s good. Do you know when you’ll get the call back?”
“Ah, David said within the next week,” Vincent says.
The two in front of them nod and Sam glances to the door.
“Is William picking you up, Vincent?”
Vincent nods and takes a look at his phone, “And he’s already here.” He looks up with a little smile that was mostly directed at Lovely, “Bye, guys. See you later.”
Lovely waves back at him, letting their gaze linger a little longer than normal until Darlin’ clears their throat.
And whatever confidence Lovely had vanished the second they were alone with Darlin’ and Sam.

so uh, i meant to post this before 12am where i am buttttttt.... it's surely still january 1st somewhere 😄
teenage david & darlin' siblings au (+alive gabe lololol) | yes, this is a work in progress. i started it over a year ago and have been stopping and restarting for so long 💀 it was meant to be a multi-chapter fic (of around 15 chapters) and i never got past 4 😭😭
cw - darlin' angst, mentions of toxic relationships (quinn & darlin'), sibling arguments, teenagers doing teenager shit (sneaking out & getting drunk), lots of cursing and name-calling, no sam or any of the mates because of the high school setting
wc - 1.8k
David never really considered himself a rebellious child, and compared to his sibling and packmates, he really wasn’t. Then again, it wasn’t as if he'd never done things he wasn’t supposed to. But those things were spread out enough for him to blame it on teenage impulse.
At least he was self-aware.
But sneaking out was one thing he could never justify to himself or wanted to do in the first place.
Yet here he was. Sneaking out.
Asher got invited to this party a friend of a friend was hosting and was told to bring whoever he felt like. David and Milo were obviously the very first and only people he thought to invite. They were the only people he knew would come with him or at the very least not snitch on him.
The situation he was now in came back to his inability to say no to Asher. Surely this counts as peer pressure.
They were at Asher's house that Friday night, under the guise of a routine sleepover. They stayed until his parents fell asleep before sneaking out the front door and into Asher’s father’s car.
The whole car ride was quite uneventful, Asher and Milo having a conversation about something while David sat in the back trying to ignore the anxiety pooling in his stomach.
It had been all of twelve minutes after they’d arrived before Milo slipped one of those cliché red solo cups into his hand. David didn’t hesitate to down the whole thing.
He heard Asher and Milo laugh at him and felt the slap on his back when he was done.
David leaned back onto the couch with a small groan, barely audible amidst the noise of the music playing throughout the house. He could already feel the tension bleeding out of his body as the alcohol heated his body.
When he turned his head, Asher and Milo were already laughing while downing their drinks with their arms intertwined.
It was gonna be a long night.
────────
Of course, nothing in their life goes correctly.
Of course, the night after they broke up with Quinn would be an absolute shit show. They didn’t even care that he was showing up to this party, they just wanted him to stay on the other side of the house for the next five hours while they tried to forget about him.
But when does anything go their way?
They were just sitting on the couch on their phone waiting for a friend to come back when Quinn appeared in front of them, menacing aura and all. They had half a mind to ignore him but then he just had to start running his mouth.
They only really caught the comments on them being a traitor, a worthless dog and a disappointment to everyone who ever cared about them. The alcohol in their system was making their comprehension fuzzy.
They don’t remember what they said in response but by the look in Quinn’s cold undead eyes, it pissed him off. And that made them feel good.
Quinn kept yelling and yelling and Tank found themselves yelling back once again. They didn’t know if anyone else was paying attention to both of them and frankly, they didn’t care, if people wanted to watch how much of a clown Quinn was when he felt threatened, they could.
Tank enjoyed the feeling of being the only one to make Quinn lash out like this.
It was kind of special.
────────
David groans softly as he steps out of the house, the owner of which he didn’t even know, loud music pounding against its walls, not helping his budding headache.
He pulls out his phone and forces himself to call his Dad’s contact before he can talk himself out of it.
He knew this was a bad idea
You would think being the oldest and most level-headed teenager in the pack would make him resistant to Asher’s stupid ideas. But alas, he’s just a teenage boy who was bored on a Friday night with a social butterfly as a best friend.
Gabe picks up the phone, his voice groggy from sleep. “David?”
“Uhm, Dad?” David winces at how nervous he sounds.
“Something wrong, buddy? Are you boys alright?” He asks, worry starting to make itself apparent in his tone and David feels guilt building inside of him.
Yeah, this was a really bad idea.
“I-” He closed his eyes and inhaled a sharp breath as his vision blurred, “I’m really sorry in advance but I need you to pick me, Ash and Milo up.”
There was silence on the other line for a moment before Gabe spoke up again, “Okay.. why?”
David had to take a few deep breaths to calm the panicked feeling in his stomach before he could continue. “One of Ash’s friends was hosting a party at their house and the three of us snuck out of Ash’s house to go. Ash and Milo are both wasted and I’m not sober either so I called you. I’m really really sorry..”
The sigh of disappointment from his father made him wince.
“Send me the address, I’m on my way.”
David swallowed hard and nodded before realizing Gabe couldn’t see him. “Okay. Thank you.” He whispered back.
“Thank you for calling me, David.”
David didn’t say anything before Gabe hung up. He sent the house address quickly before he stepped back inside the house. Asher and Milo were in the same position they were in before he left, draped across each other on the couch giggling about absolutely nothing.
David collapses next to the both of them, “My Dad’s on his way.”
There was no reason for that to be funny, quite the opposite actually, but for some reason, Asher and Milo started laughing hysterically. David rolls his eyes, immediately regretting it because of how much worse it makes his headache, and buries his flushed face in his palms.
“It’s not even funny, I’m so dead,” Asher snickers into Milo’s side.
Milo replies with a cackle and David groans quietly.
This night could not get any worse.
────────
David had all but dragged Asher and Milo outside when his father had gotten there, stumbling a bit himself but he got the three of them to the car where his father was standing.
Asher and Milo’s obnoxious laughter stopped as soon as they saw their Alpha standing tall and pissed outside the house. David could’ve rolled his eyes at the way both of them hung their heads and mumbled a “sorry, Gabe”, climbing into the car with their figurative tails between their legs if he wasn’t scared shitless himself.
He avoids his father’s eye contact as he walks around to the passenger side after closing the door.
David expected his dad to enter the car after them and start the car and the lecture, but he looked up long enough to see him still standing against the car and watching the house. David was about to open his mouth and ask what he was doing when he saw Tank leaving the house as well and walking towards the car.
“Sovereigns above…” Gabe sighs heavily, leaning against the car in exasperation, “Are you kidding me?”
Tank huffs and opens the car door without looking at Gabe, “Yes, yes I know. You’re such a bad kid, you could’ve died and I wouldn’t know blah blah blah. I was gonna call you, promise.”
Gabe seems to roll his eyes as they get into the car, “Anyone else in there I should know about?”
No one in the car says anything so Gabe takes it as his turn to get in the car.
David turns in his seat to look at Tank putting their seatbelt on, “What are you doing here?”
They look over at him, raising an eyebrow, “I could ask you the same thing, Davey.” They spit the nickname out like a curse.
“Don’t call me that.” David’s look turns sour, “But I asked you first.”
“Parties aren’t exactly your scene, I think my question is more important.”
“You don’t have friends, who invited you?”
“Fuck you, I have more friends than you do Mr. Grinch-looking ass.”
“Are their names Jack and Shit?”
“Do you want to get beat the fuck up?”
“You can try.”
“You ugly toad-“
“Wet dog-“
“Both of you.” Gabe cuts in sternly, “Cut it out. You’re both in trouble and you’ll both have to explain what on earth you were doing at that party without telling anyone.”
“I think that means you and me are out of the water-“ Asher whispers to Milo.
“Both of you too. I’ve called both of your parents already.”
“Shit...” Asher laughs anyway. Milo sinks lower into his seat as if he was trying to hide from the world, as if the gravity of the situation had just caught up to him.
David huffs and leans back into the seat, looking out the window with a new resolve.
He’s never hearing Ash out again.
────────
Gabe opens the front door and lets both teenagers into the house before himself, closing it after he enters.
David and Tank were both still bickering with each other in the entryway as they took their shoes off.
Asher was dropped off first, thanking and apologizing to Gabe a final time before he slipped out of the car and strolled up to his door. David saw him say something along the lines of “I’m so sorry Mommy” to the doorbell camera by the door and actually rolled his eyes that time.
Milo’s mom was already at the door by the time Gabe had dropped him off, Tank had snorted at all the colour draining from Milo’s face as he left the car, stuttering through a “thank you, Gabe”.
The remaining three could hear Marie yelling at him through the car even without their heightened senses.
Gabe was silent the whole car ride home and so were his two teenagers. Up until they got home.
“You still haven’t told me what you were doing at the house,” David breaks the silence between him and Tank.
Tank folds their arms and leans against the wall, “And you still haven’t told me what you were doing there.”
He rolls his eyes, “I still asked first.”
“I still think my question is more important.”
“My question is automatically more important than yours.”
Tank narrows their eyes, “And why, exactly?”
“I’m older than you,”
Tank scoffs, “Meaning what?”
“Meaning that you answer my questions first.”
“All because you popped out of the womb a year before I did?"
“Exactly.”
“Well none of that’s gonna matter when I put you six feet under since you wanna be first so bad, dipshit-"
Gabe sighs heavily, “Both of you, stop provoking each other. Phones on the counter now.”
Both of them glare at the other before moving to set their phones on the kitchen counter with little hesitation.
“Thank you.” Gabe nods and moves to sit at the kitchen island in front of both teenagers, “Now…”

THE SIREN AND PROFESSOR - IMPERIUM LASKO/DEAR (+FREELANCER)
this was written from a prompt i got from @piffany666 so thank you and i hope you enjoy <3
cw - lasko being a creep towards freelancer as per usual, lasko being creepy in general, dear being condescending and mildly abusive ngl, lasko is toxic too, moderate hostility, couple's quarrels, not super aggressive though , mild innuendo at the end + lasko still being a creep
wc - 1.3k
Freelancer coughs and shifts uncomfortably in their seat right in front of President Moore's desk as he rambles on and on and on about some human-born superiority bullshit. Again.
They unfortunately found themselves here at least three times a week listening to the same rant. The nodding, the fake smiles and laughter, and enduring his not-at-all-subtle advances on them both verbally and physically.
The only reason they keep coming to these is the slight chance that maybe he'll let them see Vindemeator. But that only worked once in a while.
"...like us. Right, Freelancer?"
Freelancer blinks out of their zoned-out little daze to re-plaster the smile on their face, "Mhm. Of course, Mr. Moore. We human borns are special and I appreciate you telling me that.. again. Uhm, it's getting kind of late-"
Lasko's soft laugh rings unsettling in Freelancer's ears, cutting them off. They barely conceal a shiver.
"Oh please," He grins, "I've told you countless times to call me Lasko when it's just the two of us. We're too close to be on last name basis these days."
They nod slowly, the smile frozen on their face.
Lasko leans back in his desk with a satisfied smirk, "I like seeing you smile, Freelancer. You truly are beautiful."
And Freelancer tries so hard to not let their expression waver, trying not to show the disgust they felt deep in their gut.
"Thank you, Mr M- uhh Lasko.." They force a laugh, "But that's really not necessary."
Lasko scoffs playfully, "Oh, nonsense. I can acknowledge a pretty face when I see one. And you definitely fit that bill."
They stifle what feels like their hundredth sigh when the door to Lasko's office swings open unceremoniously.
Both Freelancer and Lasko look at the new person in the room with very different expressions. Freelancer with one of curiosity and Lasko with one of exasperation.
Dear walks into the room looking down at a bunch of papers they were going though.
"Koko, I need your signature for-" They look up for a moment and double back when they see Freelancer, "-something. Oh, Freelancer. Didn't expect to see you here at this hour."
Freelancer misses the death stare they give Lasko for a split second as he nervously readjusts his tie.
They wave hesitantly with a smile that's a little more genuine, "Hi Professor."
Dear sighs, waving them off, "Don't call me that, kid, it makes me feel old."
Lasko interrupts with a tight voice, "To what do I owe the pleasure, my dear? I was under the impression that you were busy today."
They huff an all too sweet laugh, "Yeah well, clearly I'm not anymore. I wouldn't be wasting my time in here if I had work to do."
Lasko pokes his tongue at his gum in irritation, "Right.."
They only raise an eyebrow at him before looking back at Freelancer.
"So, Freelancer, what are you doing here so late? Surely you would have better things to do than spend time in here with... him." They snort, "Finished all your studying for the week or has Mr. Moore been keeping you too long? How long have you two been chatting away, hm?"
Freelancer stutters at the amount of questions but they glance over at the clock in the corner of the room, "Uhm.. around three or four hours?"
Dear laughs out of surprise, "Four hours? Goodness, Lasko, do you have no sense of time?" They turn to glare "playfully" at Lasko, smile still stretched across their face.
He sits up a little straighter, "I.. didn't realize it was getting so late. I apologize, Freelancer. Dear, do you really have nothing better to do?"
They giggle, "Than be in here riling you up? Nothing brings me more amusement."
"Must be time to find a hobby then," He says quickly, crossing his arms.
Dear looks him up and down, their smile fading. Right then, Freelancer stands up from their seat.
They grab their bag and sling it over their shoulder, smiling at the two, "I- I think I'm gonna head out now. Thank you.., Lasko, for seeing me. See you in class next week, Professor. Have a good night, you two."
They both look away from each other quickly. Lasko coughs and gives Freelancer a look that they almost interpret as pleading.
But surely the Academy's president wouldn't be pleading with them. Right?
Freelancer shrugs it off and turns around.
Dear bids them goodbye and Lasko sighs almost inaudibly.
"I'll see you next time, Freelancer. Focus on your studies now!"
Dear looks back at Lasko to continue their conversation to see him still looking at Freelancer's turned back. They follow his gaze only to find that he's staring directly at Freelancer's ass.
They clench their jaw and drop their stack of papers on the desk so loudly, that Lasko flinches at the noise.
"Eyes up here, Moore," They roll their eyes as they sit on his desk
Lasko lets the faux kind act drop in front of them and leans back lazily in his chair, "Whatever. What're the papers for?"
"Don't worry about that. I remember distinctly telling you two days ago not to ever have them in here alone with you again, you creep."
Lasko rolls his eyes, "This shit again- Yeah, and I remember distinctly telling you then that I am the president of this academy and I'll do whatever I want. You can't boss me around."
"You can hardly call yourself a president when all you do with that title is use to get into innocent human borns' pants-"
"I do not-!"
"I see the way you look at them, Lasko." They deadpan, "You're not slick in the slightest."
"I look at them like one of my students!" Lasko laughs helplessly, "I would never do that to you or them. You're being paranoid."
"You think I don't hear all the comments you make about their pretty face? Their body? Lasko, I'm not stupid."
Lasko just scoffs, "And when you go around batting your eyes at random security to get stuff from them? Or touching the other teachers so they cover for you while you go get high off your ass?"
Dear smirks at him, unfazed, "It's called efficiency. I'm just getting what I want around here. You should try it."
"No thanks, I'd rather not be a whore-"
Lasko hisses when his head is pulled upwards by his chin by none other than his dearest.
They look pissed. He loved it.
"Watch yourself, President. You know you don't actually hold any power over me." They squeeze his face a little.
He huffs, "Would you let go?"
"You're so cute when you're frustrated with me, Koko." They smile falsely.
"I must be pretty damn adorable then- let go-!" He struggles a little as he tries to think about literally anything other than their hand moving to yank at his hair, "Please?"
"Take this as a lesson, hm? Leave the Freelancer alone, Lasko. Or I'll really be upset. You don't want that, do you?" Dear hums.
Lasko looks away from them, blush high on his cheeks, "No, Dear. It won't happen again."
"Look at me when you speak."
He sighs and pouts up at them, "I'm sorry. I'll make it up to you?"
Dear smiles, "Promise?"
"Always." Lasko gives a soft hum, eyeing the papers again, "And those?"
"Ah. Don't worry about what it is, just sign the last three pages and I'll be on my way."
He nods and grabs a pen from his pen holder and quickly signs off on all of them. He knows better than to question Dear when they want something from him. They'd still get it in the end so it's no use to fight in the place.
Lasko smiles when they kiss the section of hair they had pulled on before grabbing the papers.
"Thanks, Koko, I appreciate it. I'll come to yours later tonight." Dear waves, turning their back to him with a little wink.
Lasko waves back, an unsettling smirk on his lips, "Bye, see you."
He's practically drooling, looking down at their ass as they leave too.
