“You remembered,” Aziraphale breathes as wonder courses through him. He mentioned something once during an awkward moment, half a century ago, and now here kneels a demon atop a picnic blanket.

“Hmm?” Crowley barely shoots him a sidelong glance as he concentrates on opening the basket.

Aziraphale’s eyes do not move from him. “You remembered,” he repeats, no less stunned. “Crowley, you really didn’t have to.”

Crowley’s hands still. Eventually, his eyes still on the basket, he murmurs, “Well, we did The Ritz, didn’t we?”

7. What do you think are the characteristics of your personal writing style? Would others agree?

i’m blunt. not sure people would agree (idk what anyone thinks of my writing) but with a few exceptions, i’m not so much for flowery language or things that sound nice. x went here and said y. on the flip side i think i balance plot and characterization alright, without getting weighed down too much on either side. and i try to make up for the lack of poetry by sewing in motifs that hit you in the gut when they come back around a few chapters later, unexpectedly but in a way that ties it all together

10. How would you describe your writing process?

my what now? after i notice i’ve been slacking off for too long, i just sit down with a mindless tv show on in the background and force out 1k. sometimes i hit a stride and can do a couple thousand words in a sitting, but usually it’s an effort to get to the scenes that click. with fic it was different cuz i could set arbitrary deadlines (say, one chapter every other sunday) and that usually got me down to churn out a thousand words every day, but original work is hard

19. Is there something you always find yourself repeating in your writing? (favourite verb, something you describe ‘too often’, trope you can’t get enough of?)

someone in a creative writing course once told me that i repeatedly make a motif about fire/burning, and now i can’t unsee it. he didn’t necessarily say it was a bad thing, just that the imagery crops up a lot & now i always notice that

6. what books have you read in the last month?

I juuuust came out of a reading slump, so my number (2) is lower than I'd like, but! Oh well!

Harvest by Tess Gerritsen: older mystery/thriller about a surgeon-in-training who cottons on to an organ harvesting ring sourcing from Russian orphans. Very fun and quick-paced!

Six Harvests in Lea, Texas by Sam Starbuck: dust bowl era, follows a man and his family through the years living in Lea, where a strange church appeared one day (although also, somehow, the church was always there.) Not sure how to describe this one! Magical scifi quiet farm life, people who try their best to be kind and generous in hard circumstances, & a truly lovely family. This one is self-published and I've been recommending it to everyone I know, I loved it so much. Super lovely!

9. when do you tend to read most?

I ride the bus to work for about 40 minutes each way and read a lot then! Other than that, right before bed (good for sleep) on my phone's ereader app (bright, bad for sleep lol.)
