The Fate of Gandalf's Hat

First you must know this piece of trivia. In Carlsbad Caverns, there is a bat encased in a stalagmite, with some tissue preserved besides just the skeleton. Some say this is evidence that mineral deposits can form quickly enough to have covered or encased the bat before it had time to fully decompose.

Therefore, I would like to propose this fan theory.

Gandalf lost his hat in Moria. With the destruction and disrepair that fell upon the place over even just a relatively few years, I don't think it would be unreasonable to assume there could've been mineral deposits from water coming in through damaged spaces. And if stalagmites can form relatively quickly, I'd like to assume Gandalf's hat became encased in one, just like that bat. When the Dwarves later reclaimed Moria, I'd like to think they discovered this, and left it standing as a tribute and memorial to the mighty acts of Gandalf the Grey in the depths of Khazad-dûm.

(Later, Gandalf is said to be wearing a hat again, but it's almost certain it was not the same one.)

Supporter sketch request reward! I was asked to draw the Doors of Durin, the entrance to the fallen Dwarf kingdom of Khazad-dûm, also known as Moria, from "The Lord of the Rings". By complete coincidence, I'm in the middle of a LotR re-read at the moment, so this was an especial lot of fun to be asked for.

Additionally, despite Pharazon being implied to have usurped her, Miriel remains Queen Regent Miriel. Elendil is still also a Captain as of this episode.

Implications: Durin IV and Durin III have fully made up, possibly over the ring of power they receive. Over in Numenor, Pharazon is in power, but Miriel is still regent in some manner. Elendil's not in prison yet.
