I know that Rena is such a monster in some aspects, but she's also a broken girl inside who needs to just let the love in 😢 I love this AU not just for Kingston and Poppy, but also the conflict of how Poppy and Kingston are happy together... But he's still a married man and Rena lost him. Maybe not entirely, they are still soulmates even if they may not have been ready for each other in this lifetime. But Rena doesn't have King waiting for her at home anymore.
On the one hand- they had been toxic for a while before Kingston accepted that Rena was going to do what she was going to do, so Poppy is in a way a good thing happening? But that doesn't mean it's all sunshine and rainbows. Someone is getting hurt. And this song really captures that.

I need Rena and Poppy to just. Talk. Poppy is so in love with King and feels like she's on cloud 9, but she still knows that she's dating a married man. Even if they are a more open marriage and/or separated outside of paper, Poppy wants to make sure Rena is ok. I'm imagining Poppy comes over to their house in the morning, probably when Kingston has gone to work (when does he go to work for gang business? In the morning or at night? 😅) and Rena is at home, probably recovering from a hangover or thinking about things before she hears a careful knock on the door (Poppy just had to pick the one time when Rena doesn't have her femme fatal, party animal walls up to talk to her about King 😅). Poppy is at the door, a Tupperware box of a casserole or a pasta she made and asks if its a good time for them to talk. She's here for Rena, not King.
I'm just- i know it wouldn't happen, but I'm just picturing Poppy and Rena lying on the floor, their heads next to each other even though they're laid down in opposite directions (hopefully that makes sense 😅) and they're having a down to earth, heart to heart talk. Ehem. Just dropping in to let Poppy know that before Poppy- Kingston never even thought if women apart from Rena. Not even in a 'I'd hit' kind of way, even during those 'non monogymous stages' Rena put them through. Even Ryan thinks that about some women he sees. King just wasn't interested.

I'm just imagining King decides to bring this up randomly while they're cuddling on the couch, watching a nice movie, or reading together. Poppy laughs softly, very flattered but not really letting this information sink in, "Oh, King. You're too sweet to me." until Kingston tilts her head up so she can see the earnest love in his eyes, "No, darlin'. I'm serious. 'Yer the only other woman I've wanted. Ain't no one like 'ya."
And then Poppy stops, looks almost like a deer in headlights as she fully realizes the way he's holding her, how he's looking at her. And it hits her so hard that she's got someone who loves and treasures her THIS much. She has to look away and cover her face with her sweater or in his shoulder, feeling overwhelmed with this but so happy and loved, even if she has no idea how someone like her got a guy like King. And Kingston can't help but laugh and fall even harder for his adorable little lady, "King!" // "Haha, what, doll? I'm just tellin' the truth!" // *flustered, happy girlfriend noises* "I love you too!"
